Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 135: Chapter 126: Bullets Are No Longer a Threat

The experiment to test if one can withstand a bullet has a prerequisite, which is having a gun.

If an ordinary person faces this issue, they might really have no way to solve it.

Lu Li is different; he has a way to test without using a gun.

It’s quite simple; let an object with kinetic energy similar to a bullet hit his body, and he can get the final result.

Lu Li searched online.

He found out that small-caliber handgun bullets weigh three to four grams.

Bigger caliber handgun bullets weigh between ten to fifteen grams.

”Search for bullet kinetic energy.”

He continued his search online.

The result quickly appeared before his eyes.

According to online sources, normally only muzzle energy can be calculated.

Muzzle energy refers to the energy a bullet has at the moment it exits the muzzle.

In fact, muzzle energy is not the maximum energy of the bullet.

Strictly speaking, when a bullet just exits the muzzle, it’s in an accelerating state, and its kinetic energy is rising. After flying some distance, with inertia at play, that’s when the kinetic energy is at its maximum.

However, this kind of energy is hard to calculate.

So Lu Li temporarily ignored it.

He planned to first understand muzzle energy and then add some more energy.

Lu Li watched the information online for a moment.

He roughly understood handgun bullet muzzle energy.

According to the kinetic energy standards in our country, the kinetic energy required to damage a human body is 80 Joules, and 180 Joules to harm a horse.

So, most handguns, depending on the caliber, have a muzzle energy set between 220 Joules and 500 Joules.

”In other words, if I can withstand 500 Joules of energy, I can almost say I can resist the power of most handguns.”

Lu Li contemplated.

Joules and kilograms cannot be directly converted.

Joules can be converted to kilogram-meters.

One Joule equals 1.02 kilogram-meters.

Five hundred Joules equals 510 kilogram-meters.

Kilogram-meters is a unit of work, which can be understood as the product of kilograms and meters.

Lu Li remembered this data.

He started looking around the house for suitable items to test his defense capabilities.

Bullets are generally made of materials like brass and galvanized steel.

Brass is widely used in life and is relatively easy to find.

Lu Li discovered the hooks on several wooden hangers in the wardrobe were made of brass.

He unhesitatingly dismantled the hangers, took an appropriate amount of brass, and tried to shape it into as much of a bullet shape as possible.

This material has a relatively high yield strength, so even with Lu Li’s immense strength, it took quite an effort to shape it roughly into a bullet.

”This piece of brass is about fifteen grams. I’ll first test it with about 100 Joules of energy. If it can withstand it, then I’ll continue testing with higher Joules.”

Lu Li thought, opening the window.

Then he used Spiritual Power to control the brass.

Bringing it outside the window, about fifteen meters away from himself.

This distance is just right for the effective range of most handguns.

After determining the distance, he used Spiritual Power to control the brass, calculated the energy the speed could generate, and then swiftly propelled it towards his arm.

Hmm, he dared not test it on his body directly.

He didn’t want to fail before starting.

With a swoosh.

The brass fiercely struck his arm.

A strong impact force transmitted from the contact point between the brass and the arm.

At that moment, Lu Li felt the muscle on his arm seemed to cave inward slightly, but it didn’t break the defense, as if it was very resilient. It quickly bounced back to its original state.

Of course, some of this strong impact force did reach the bones in the arm.

Thud.

The brass fell to the ground.

Emitting a crisp sound.

Lu Li looked at his arm and found there wasn’t even a white mark.

”It’s not surprising that 100 Joules of energy can’t break my defense. Before I deeply evolved, I could already withstand an impact force of 150 kilograms, and 100 Joules doesn’t even reach that level.”

Lu Li felt a bit braver.

”Continue testing with 200 Joules of energy.”

He once again used Spiritual Power to lift the brass from the floor, moving it back outside the window 15 meters away from himself.

Controlled the brass to hit him again.

This time, the energy was doubled!

The brass, whizzing through the air, struck the arm in an instant.

Feeling very similar to before, it transmitted from the contact point between the brass and the arm once more.

Lu Li still did not feel any pain.

He knew he had no problem withstanding 200 Joules of energy.

When the brass fell to the ground, he checked his arm again, still not even a white mark.

”Even 200 Joules of energy couldn’t break my defense, so generally speaking, a small-caliber handgun is no threat to me anymore.”

Testing this result, Lu Li felt very excited.

Small-caliber handguns posed no threat.

This means he has truly stepped into the realm of the Extraordinary.

He never has to worry about getting injured by someone’s sneak attack again.

”200 Joules isn’t my limit yet; I’ll keep testing.”

Lu Li wanted to know where his defense limit lies, so naturally, he did not stop.

He once again used Spiritual Power to lift the brass and continued testing.

This time, he increased the kinetic energy of the brass to about 350 Joules.

Soon, the brass struck.

Still couldn’t break the defense.

This surprised Lu Li, ”350 Joules of energy is roughly equivalent to 357 kilogram-meters. Before the second deep evolution, my physical defense could withstand an impact force of around 150 kilograms. Has it doubled now?”

The most crucial fact is that he still couldn’t find his limit.

This indicates his defense is far beyond that!

Lu Li grew even bolder.

”This time test with 500 Joules!”

Just like before, he moved the brass, 15 meters away, then fiercely hit it.

Bang!

A muffled sound resounded.

Lu Li clearly felt a sensation of pain in his arm, but it wasn’t very severe, somewhat like being pinched.

The brass still fell to the ground, indicating it still hadn’t broken the defense.

He looked down at his arm and found a small red dot at the impact point.

It’s obvious that it was bruised by brass.

However, the extent of the injury is limited.

The skin still hasn’t shown any wounds.

Lu Li didn’t continue the test, ”Considering the situation, the impact my body defense can currently withstand should be around six to seven hundred joules. Exceeding this value might cause a wound.”

What does this mean?

It means that most handguns are no longer a threat!

”The muzzle energy of rifles usually ranges between fifteen hundred to twenty-two hundred joules, which I currently can’t withstand.”

Lu Li roughly figured out the strength of his body’s defense.

As long as I don’t intentionally seek death by hard-taking rifle bullets, it’s basically hard to be killed.

”This is just my body’s direct defense strength.”

He stood there pondering, ”In reality, I am a living person. Even if faced with a gun pointed at me, I don’t necessarily need to stand there and take the shot. I can completely rely on high reaction speed to dodge the bullet at the first moment.”

Earlier, when Lu Li used Spiritual Power to control brass towards himself, his eyes’ powerful dynamic vision was able to capture the trajectory of the brass.

With his super high reaction speed, he has the ability to dodge it.

He can even confidently say that he can achieve the same feat as the Fire Cloud Evil God in ”Kung Fu”, catching a bullet with two fingers when shot by a handgun.

This is only limited to handguns, not rifles.

”The defense test is done, but I don’t know how much my strength and speed have increased.”

After my second deep evolution last time, I immediately tested it. The hundred-meter sprint speed was a mere few seconds, and my strength reached a terrifying two to three tons.

Now that so many days have passed, it must have increased quite a bit again.

Lu Li decided to go out and test it.

He grabbed his car keys and went downstairs, driving the Cullinan away.

...

Arriving in the suburbs.

Lu Li first used a tape measure he just bought on the way to measure a straight-line distance of one hundred meters.

Marked it well.

He took out his phone again.

Activated the stopwatch function.

Soon after, Lu Li was standing on the road by the river.

At the moment of starting the stopwatch with Spiritual Power.

The whole person shot out like a cannonball.

Almost in the blink of an eye, he reached the other marked point.

At the first moment, Lu Li used Spiritual Power again to pause the stopwatch.

He checked the time with Spiritual Power and saw it displayed one point five seconds.

”Holy shit!”

Lu Li was fiercely surprised.

”I ran one hundred meters in just a mere one and a half seconds?”

Doesn’t this mean that my sprint speed has reached about two hundred and forty kilometers per hour?

If my physical strength is sufficient, I can completely surpass most cars just by running!

Imagine, with my terrifying strength combined with such a powerful impact, how much force can I unleash with one punch?

Lu Li didn’t calculate seriously, but he knows that even relatively thin steel plates might not withstand this powerful outburst.

The speed test is done.

He planned to test the increase in strength.

Unfortunately, there’s nothing around to test strength.

Lu Li thought he could buy a professional strength-measuring device and then test his strength properly.

”General strength-measuring devices might break instantly under my punch, seems like I need to have one custom made by a manufacturer.”

As for testing pulling and pushing forces, it’s relatively easier, just find something with corresponding weight.

Only punch strength is hard to test, requiring professional equipment.

Therefore, Lu Li thought of getting a specially customized strength-measuring device from a manufacturer.

...

Returning to Diamond Home.

Lu Li went upstairs into the bedroom.

First, he searched online for manufacturers making strength-measuring devices.

To see if he could contact one to customize a device.

After searching for quite some time.

He finally locked onto a target.

Lu Li called over to inquire.

As a result, the other party hung up immediately upon hearing that he wanted to customize a strength-measuring device capable of measuring thousands of kilograms.

No need to ask why.

The other party thought I was joking!

Alright, this matter can be discussed later.

Lu Li simply didn’t bother about the strength-measuring device anymore.

He half-lay on the bed thinking about other things.

”Developing the transformation skill is making my body continuously stronger, there might also be some additional ’superpowers’ being developed, it’s just that I haven’t noticed them yet.”

He pondered whether any additional superpowers have been developed at all?

At this moment, the familiar footsteps of Liu Kexin were heard coming from the staircase.

Lu Li’s train of thought was interrupted, and he instinctively glanced towards the stairs.

A moment later, the footsteps stopped outside his room, but there was no knocking sound.

Lu Li guessed that Liu Kexin was hesitating whether to knock and come in, being a shy girl and all.

He simply initiated, ”The door’s not locked, come in.”

”Oh.”

Liu Kexin’s response came from outside.

Soon, with a click, the door opened.

Liu Kexin, wearing the usual professional attire, appeared at the door.

Lu Li glanced up and found that today, although she was still in professional attire,

her lower half was not pants, but a suit skirt.

She was also wearing black stockings.

On her feet were black high heels with small flowers.

Liu Kexin frowned and said, ”It’s already dark, why haven’t you turned on the light?”

Lu Li casually replied, ”I was thinking...”

Hey!

Wait a minute!

It’s already dark.

There’s no light on in the room.

How could I see Liu Kexin’s outfit so clearly?

Could it be... the transformation skill has also developed night vision abilities?
