Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 123: Chapter 114: Can Souls Evolve Too?

Lu Li kept flipping through the Danjing and Daojing.

Zhen Hongyi was explaining all sorts of meanings beside him.

Finally, Lu Li found a method in these books that could possibly help him with his ”soul injury”.

Zhen Hongyi was explaining, ”Ghosts are yin, humans are half-yin and half-yang, immortals are pure yang without yin, and the Sun God is a product of the Alchemy Dao cultivated to a profound level, a result of the integration and sublimation of vital energy and spirit, it is ethereal and intangible, yet it has a form that can be used, able to gather to form shape, disperse as vital energy...”

Lu Li suddenly interrupted, ”Daoist Zhen, that’s enough, I think I understand somewhat.”

Zhen Hongyi’s face lit up with joy, ”You... can you manifest the Sun God?”

Zhang Hongzhong, Wang Duguan, and others, all showed a look of anticipation.

Beside them, Blaze Baby and Qin Liang also showed similar expressions.

Everyone wanted to know what the Sun God, something that only appeared in mythical legends, actually looked like.

Lu Li shook his head, ”I don’t know yet, I need to experiment for a while.”

Zhen Hongyi dared not disturb him and quickly said, ”Please, go ahead.”

Lu Li didn’t concern himself with the others and began pondering the Sun God cultivation method Zhen Hongyi had mentioned earlier.

There are roughly a few methods to manifest the Sun God, namely inner vision, holding the one, nurturing true vital energy, etc.

These three methods have a common point, which is that all require activating ”energy” to achieve the union of form and spirit, just differing in the means of energy transportation.

Simply put, using energy to saturate the so-called ”spirit” and make it reach the state of pure yang without yin.

Lu Li didn’t know about true vital energy, he only knew that a large amount of energy light was stored within his body, and as for where the Little Golden Man was.

He pondered if the Little Golden Man could absorb energy light, rather than just mobilizing it, would it help treat ”soul injury”?

With that thought, he decided to give it a try.

Without hesitation, Lu Li gave the Little Golden Man a command to absorb the surrounding energy light.

Perhaps receiving the command, the Little Golden Man immediately began to absorb the energy light surrounding it.

At this moment, Lu Li could clearly sense that the Little Golden Man was being repaired bit by bit.

Moreover, he had a feeling that the continued absorption of energy light by the Little Golden Man might make it stronger.

Of course, currently, the Little Golden Man was just in the repair process, whether it could become stronger was unknown.

Lu Li knew he would find out after the repair was complete.

Time passed slowly.

At first, Lu Li could feel that as the Little Golden Man absorbed energy light, his sense of ”soul injury” gradually faded.

”It works!” he thought with a secret delight, ”The energy light indeed can repair the Little Golden Man, and as the Little Golden Man is repaired, my feeling of ’soul injury’ weakens significantly.”

Lu Li seemed to understand something.

If one imagines his body as a computer.

The Little Golden Man is the core central processor.

Its main task is to execute programs and process data.

This conclusion can be drawn from the past when the Little Golden Man helped him develop various superpowers.

Whenever Lu Li evolved a new ability, as long as his body entered a deep sleep, the Little Golden Man would mobilize energy light to converge at a certain part, then complete the construction of the ”field,” finally providing him with the ability.

Although after the second deep evolution, no new ”field” seemed to be born within him when developing new superpowers, Lu Li knew that the Little Golden Man actually upgraded the way it developed superpowers, perfectly integrating the ”field” with the body.

This way, the workload of the Little Golden Man significantly increased.

It’s just that his body, the ”hardware,” had upgraded, but the Little Golden Man, the ”software,” had not.

Thus, when upgrading superpowers, the Little Golden Man was in an overloaded state and naturally got damaged.

Looking at it this way, it was quite clear.

The central processor was damaged.

The computer would obviously have issues running.

Generally speaking, there could be several problems when a central processor is damaged.

For instance, the task and instruction processing speed could decline, causing the overall system performance to drop, frequent crashes, inability to boot into the system, etc.

Hadn’t something similar happened to his body before?

The soul injury was like a system performance decline.

The coma was akin to a crash.

Essentially, the software couldn’t support the hardware.

If it were the hardware that couldn’t support the software, the trouble might be bigger.

As for the software not being able to support the hardware, just an upgrade would do.

Lu Li previously didn’t know how to upgrade the Little Golden Man.

Or rather, he had no idea that the Little Golden Man, like the body, could absorb energy light, hence there was no upgrade.

Having learned the content of the Danjing now.

He was greatly inspired.

This led him to wonder whether he could upgrade it.

And to be honest, the effect was really good.

In about five minutes, Lu Li could feel the Little Golden Man had returned to its normal operational state.

The feeling of soul injury in himself was also completely gone!

Lu Li couldn’t help but feel excited, ”The Danjing describes the Primordial Spirit absorbing energy through many complex steps, my Little Golden Man is different, it can directly absorb energy, without all those cumbersome steps.”

At this point, he could basically confirm that humans indeed have souls.

The Little Golden Man was his soul.

Only the souls of normal humans couldn’t manifest.

Because they are actually too weak, completely insufficient to support manifestation.

He was different, during the first deep evolution, most of the energy converged on the Little Golden Man, helping it manifest, and then reached the core region, controlling the energy light to evolve the body.

Then followed the completion of the first deep evolution, granting him a human peak body.

Lu Li remembered these vividly and could naturally recall them instantly.

As for the second deep evolution, why the Little Golden Man wasn’t upgraded, Lu Li felt it was related to the position where the Little Golden Man was located.

During the first deep evolution, the Little Golden Man was at the top gate, its ”home,” so it could naturally absorb energy.

During the second deep evolution, the Little Golden Man was in the abdomen, and without receiving his command to absorb energy light, it wouldn’t actively absorb, hence no upgrade happened.

Thinking of this, Lu Li roughly understood how to upgrade the Little Golden Man.

”Let’s try now and see if the energy light can help the Little Golden Man upgrade.”

He continued to instruct the Little Golden Man to absorb the energy light.

The disappointing thing was that, after being repaired, the Little Golden Man seemed unwilling to absorb the energy light again.

Lu Li thought for a moment and roughly understood why; the Little Golden Man was not ”home.”

He recalled the specific location where the Little Golden Man was initially positioned and hinted for it to return to the crown, in the Mud Ball Palace.

To be honest, up to this point, Lu Li did not know if the Little Golden Man could return.

However, in the next instant, something happened that delighted him.

After receiving his instructions, the Little Golden Man indeed soared back to the Mud Ball Palace at the crown.

”Oh, so the Little Golden Man is not fixed in the abdomen; it can move around freely.”

Lu Li suddenly realized and instructed the Little Golden Man again to absorb the energy light.

This time, unlike before, there was a reaction.

He sensed that the energy light within his body was like a warm current, constantly converging towards the crown.

When the energy light reached the crown, the Little Golden Man began to absorb it!

Lu Li quietly felt for a moment and discovered that this time when the Little Golden Man absorbed the energy light, it was almost completely different from when it was being repaired before.

Previously, the Little Golden Man absorbed the energy light on the surface of its body, repairing wherever there was damage.

This time, the energy light seemed more like the Little Golden Man was ”eating.”

It ingested the energy light into its internal core and then ”expanded” and strengthened from the inside out!

The speed of expansion was particularly slow.

Although the growth was slow, Lu Li could feel it becoming stronger.

”It turns out that not only the body needs to evolve, but the soul also needs to evolve.”

Lu Li pondered, ”Then, can the Little Golden Man leave the body like the Sun God?”

He wasn’t sure if it could.

He attempted to suggest to the Little Golden Man to leave the body.

In the past, the Little Golden Man had always obeyed his suggestions.

But this time, surprisingly, the Little Golden Man conveyed an ”opposition.”

It seemed unwilling to leave the body.

Or rather, Lu Li sensed that it was conveying the idea that it was not strong enough to leave the body.

”Could it be that once the Little Golden Man grows to a certain extent, it will become the Sun God?”

Lu Li wasn’t certain for the time being.

After all, the Little Golden Man hadn’t left the body yet.

He didn’t know the situation.

However, since the Little Golden Man conveyed to him that it wasn’t willing to leave the body because it felt it wasn’t strong enough.

Then, Lu Li had reason to believe that once the Little Golden Man became strong enough, it should be able to leave the body.

Hmm, there’s no rush for this now.

Let the Little Golden Man grow stronger gradually.

Lu Li turned his attention back to reality and pondered another matter.

Currently, it seemed that although the Little Golden Man was different from the Sun God described in the Inner Core Arts of Daoism, they were also quite similar.

Then, could he also perform ”spells” because of this?

Thinking of this, Lu Li looked at Zhen Hongyi, ”Daoist Zhen, are there any books here that record specific methods of spell cultivation?”

”Yes.” Zhen Hongyi stepped forward, searched, and pulled out a book with a blue cover, ”This ’Five Thunders True Method’ records the cultivation methods of water magic and thunder magic.”

Lu Li took the book, ”Let me have a look.”

Everyone continued to watch Lu Li’s face with great interest.

Although they didn’t see Lu Li ”leaving the body as Sun God,” but he had just performed a spell to control a teacup from a distance.

Now he was actively inquiring about spell cultivation methods.

Everyone naturally wanted to know if Lu Li could perform even more powerful spells.

Lu Li opened the book and read.

The first thing that caught his eye was a line of warning words: Alas. Without cultivating virtue and discipline, without hard work in meditation, desiring to transform into the Jade Emperor, North Emperor, or Celestial Master, without collecting the soul and essence, desiring to step into the star gang, without synchronizing spirit with spirit, without synchronizing energy with energy, without borrowing the true light of the Supreme Being, without relying on the power of celestial truth, recklessly seizing the righteous energy of the star gang, difficult indeed.

This was a line of warning words.

In fact, there was nothing much to study.

Lu Li continued to turn to the second page.

The second page bore the title ”Five Thunders Water Method.”

Below it was a short sentence: The mage sits upright, closes his eyes, regulates his breath, after a long time, the lower dantian becomes moist and water is generated, it gathers like steam, ascends to the Mud Nine, spreads throughout the void to form black clouds, horizontally covering the two lights below. Then, the mind’s fire is stirred, rushing directly into the black clouds, yin and yang harmonize, transforming into clouds and rain.

Below were a series of illustrations.

Seemingly instructing on how to cultivate.

Lu Li turned to the third page to continue reading.

He found at the top was a method for creating talismans, and below that was a spell.

He was so absorbed in reading.

Zhang Hongzhong couldn’t help but ask, ”Master, is there a way to perform thunder magic?”

Lu Li had only half-understood the meaning in the book and laughed, ”I haven’t gotten to the thunder magic yet; I’m looking at water magic.”

Zhang Hongzhong was still itching with curiosity, ”Then can you perform water magic?”

Everyone else stared at Lu Li, wanting to know the answer.

After a little consideration, Lu Li said, ”It should be possible to give it a try.”

Oh?

He’s really going to try water magic?

Daoist Zhen Hongyi, Zhang Hongzhong, and the other Daoists widened their eyes.

Both Lie Yan Bao Bei and Qin Liang were filled with anticipation.
