Eternal Thief

Ace quickly pushed his hand back the moment it was freed, but his expression was grim as he looked at the Martial Resonance Orb, which was now full of cracks and about to burst apart.

‘I knew this thing was unreliable. How could it have had seen through my avatar’s origin? And now it’s probably ruined; I hope this old man won’t blame me since I was only following his orders… ‘Ace thought as he was about to turn around to see Steward Jesper’s reaction when the Martial Resonance Orb finally crumbled into dust. Expression somewhat somber, Steward Jesper looked between the orb, which was now a pile of fine sand dust, and Ace, who had this innocent expression on his face; Jesper didn’t know what to think about this entire situation.

Although the Martial Resonance Orb was precious, it was still something the sect could recreate. After all, the actual core of the Martial Resonance Test was this entire chamber where all the knowledge about the fantastic physiques was stored, and the orb was used to project it.

In fact, this chamber and the tests within were all created from ancient evaluation trials of a mighty sect. Although they couldn’t completely imitate the entire trial since the records were incomplete, it was still more than enough to evaluate the talents of Mortal Ascension Heaven.

But now Ace has ended up destroying the Martial Resonance Orb, which had never happened before. This could only mean two things; first, Ace’s fantastic physique was something the orb couldn’t measure, but even if that was the case, the orb shouldn’t have been destroyed in such fashion.

On the other hand, the second reason was even more absurd, the orb had probably probed something it shouldn’t have and got destroyed by the backlash. After all, the Fantastic Physiques were mysterious, and the more powerful they were, the more powerful the tools needed to discover them.

“On to the next test!” The imposing voice rang again at this moment in Steward Jesper’s head.

Steward Jesper was surprised, but he could feel the solemnity in that voice, and he knew Ace had drawn the Matriarch’s full attention.

He took a deep breath with his eyes narrowed slightly, his expression unreadable. “Very interesting. Your physique is both profound and… unusual. There’s a hidden depth that even the orb cannot fully measure. Let us move to the next test.””

“So, do I have this fantastic physique?” Ace asked, seemingly full of anticipation, but inwardly, he was vigilant because Steward Jesper’s casual attitude irked him.

“It’s unclear at this point. But don’t worry about it.” Steward Jesper clearly have no intention of giving a straight answer, in fact he didn’t know himself.

He gestured to the second pedestal. “This is the Meridian Flow Soul Altar. It examines the quality of your spiritual meridians. Just like your physique, the Meridians are the key to cultivating Qi and the foundation of cultivation.

“Furthermore, just like Fantastic Physique, the Meridians can also have unique characteristics and traits, and so come the Fantastic Meridians. Anyone with fantastic meridians is blessed by the soul path.

“Just like Fantastic Physiques, there are 9,999 Fantastic Meridians, and they also ranked in the same way. Although it’s virtually impossible for someone to have both Fantastic Physique and Fantastic Meridians, sometimes, extremely talented

individuals blessed by the world emerge.

“Although they are only legends, the records call them Heaven’s Chosen, who have both fantastic physiques and fantastic meridians.”

Steward Jesper’s eyes shimmered as he looked at Ace at this point. He said, “Now, step onto the altar and circulate your spirit Qi as you normally would.”

Ace was surprised, but not so much since he had already expected this. After all, if they can measure fantastic physiques, they will indeed have ways to probe fantastic meridians.

But when he heard the name ‘Heaven’s Chosen,’ he nearly scoffed with disdain since this would also make him a Heaven’s Chosen, yet here he was, the Eternal Enemy of Heaven!

Furthermore, he was pretty sure that this altar might be destroyed, but at this point, he could do nothing about it. In fact, Ace was now sure that if these suspected him to be Heaven’s Chosen, his status in the sect would be extremely high, and for him, it was nothing but good news.

Ace moved towards the altar. It was a flat, circular stone inscribed with glowing runes that pulsed rhythmically. The runes came to life when Ace stepped onto it, spreading like veins across the platform.

Following Jesper’s instructions, Ace began circulating his Twilight Spirit Qi. Immediately, the altar emitted a vibrant spectrum of colors, but unlike the typical flow pattern, Ace’s Qi formed intricate loops and spirals, creating a mesmerizing projection.

But Jesper’s brows furrowed in contemplation because this Qi flow didn’t show anything extraordinary, ‘So, he didn’t have fantastic meridians? Then he isn’t the chosen…’

Just when Steward Jesper was about to sigh in disappointment, his expression flickered when the spectrum of colors suddenly churned, and projection released an intense shockwave before it burst apart.

But it wasn’t over, as the altar instantly cracked and Ace remained in his position with this dumbfounded look in his eyes since he never expected his avatar could cause so much disaster.

In fact, he also suspected that if he didn’t have a system, his real body might be able to cause even more destruction than his avatar. Smile wryly, he looked at Steward Jesper who now had this stiff smile, he was clearly feeling pain of these antiques’ destruction since they were as old as the sect and part of history.

Still, Steward Jesper had to continue since he could already tell from the voice he just heard that Matriarch was now quite excited and didn’t care about these little things at all.

Sighing, Steward Jesper said stiffly, “Your meridians are extraordinary. Their structure is not only highly efficient but also seems… adaptive. They’re unlike anything I’ve seen before. Alright, let’s move on to the last test.”

Ace quickly thanks Steward Jesper as he pretends not to see his stiff expression. On the other hand, he was quite curious about what the third test was about!

Finally, Steward Jesper pointed to the third pedestal. “This is the Talent Ascension Mirror. It will evaluate your innate potential and the latent abilities tied to your physique, bloodline, or other unique traits. Stand before it, and let it reflect your true

self!”
