Eternal Thief

The moment the ethereal voice rang, the phantom above Damien became even more vivid and imposing as an incomprehensible authority emerged.

Brittny was thoroughly shaken because she felt deep terror from deep within her bloodline and soul. She felt like an ant standing in front of a colossal tree. Even her law

was completely suppressed, and she showed no signs of resistance under the

presence of that terrifying yet mystical phantom.

She finally understands why Damien is so feared and revered by many people. His abilities are even more terrifying than she had previously learned. In fact, all the information she has on Damien cannot compare to the real thing.

Moreover, the moment Damien activated his ability and that voice declaration, foreign information appeared in Brittny’s mind, and to her shock, this information was precisely about this ‘trial’

As Damien said, he was a Defendant in this trial while she was the Advocate, and she could ask him any three questions related to her suspicions. If he lies or hesitates in answering any of them, Damien’s cultivation will be taken away from him, and he’ll be cursed to never be able to cultivate again. This punishment can’t be revered no matter what Damien does because this punishment will be acknowledged by all the laws in existence.

No matter how knowledgeable Brittny was, she had never heard or seen this kind of terrifying ability before. But what came as an even greater shock was Damien was using this ability on himself, which made him look like a madman.

However, as long as Damien proved himself to be innocent, nothing would happen to him, and Brittny would have no choice but to believe him. As for doubting this trial, she didn’t dare anymore because she knew what she was feeling and experiencing was real.

There weren’t any tricks involved, and as Damien said, this was a trial of true justice, which was impartial and absolute!

“Advocate, ask your First Question!” An ethereal, distinctive voice rang at this moment. It was emotionless and incomprehensible to anyone other than the person it was imposed on.

Brittny trembled slightly. Despite wanting to ask so many questions, she didn’t have the courage. Because of this ability, she knew she couldn’t sully this trial and profane its doctrine, or the consequence would be nothing but terrifying.

Brittny suppressed her feelings and finally spoke in a shaky tone, “W-where is Sky Stealer?”

She asked what came to her mind, which was also why she was hearing it. Since Damien was determined to do this, she decided to go along, and she had nothing to lose, nor did she have any choice.

“Defendant shall answer truthfully!” The voice sounded again.

Damien was as calm as a frozen lake and replied impassively, “I have no idea!”

At this moment, the scales suddenly started to shine, drawing Brittny’s attention. Subsequently, two beautiful feathers, one white and one black, appeared on each weighting pan.

The next moment, the scales moved, and the arm with the white feather started to tip down while the black feather scale arm seemed weightless.

At this moment, the voice rang, “Defendant is not guilty! The advocate may proceed with the second question!”

Brittny was astounded as she finally started to believe Damien, but when she considered how subtle her question was, she instantly discovered her mistake in her current state of mind.

She instantly gathered her thoughts and asked, “Do you know or have any relationship with Sky Stealer?”

“This question will reveal the truth!” She thought with a hint of agitation as she looked at Damien.

Although she believed in this ability, she had no idea if it would even work against its own owner. Still, she had absolute trust in it because of what she had experienced until now.

“Defendant shall answer truthfully!”

Damien replied, “I know Sky Stealer, but I never actually met him. As for my relationship with him, he’s my mortal enemy, and I can’t live unless I kill him. The same goes for the Sky Stealer. We are natural enemies, and I’m the only one he’s afraid of, and that’s why he tricked you guys into inducing trouble for me.”

Brittny was startled by this unexpected response since she wasn’t expecting such a relationship between Damien and Sky Stealer. But she felt guilty when she thought about how she wasn’t listening to Damien when he tried to explain and wanted to capture him.

At this moment, the same scene took place with the scales, as a black and a white feather appeared, and just like before, the white feather was heaver than the black one.

The voice rang again, “Defendant is not guilty. The advocate may proceed with the final question!”

Brittny was at a loss since she had already gotten the answers to the questions she wanted. This clarified not only Damien’s name but could also put him in the good graces of the bank because he was actually the enemy of the Sky Stealer, who the other part seemed to fear.

But she still doesn’t understand one thing, so she asked her third question, “You said Sky Stealer, and you are natural enemies? What kind of background do he and you have?”

Although Brittny’s question was simple, its implications weren’t so simple. Because her question directly touched on the origin of Damien and Sky Stealer, and after she personally witnessed Damien’s terrifying ability and Sky Stealer’s mysterious means, she wanted to know where these two came from.

Because both of them appeared out of nowhere, no one had any clues about their origin. Brittny even suspected that now that both of them seemed to have ancient inheritances, which made them enemies or something led to it.

However, the voice rang at this moment, but its words were different from before, shocking Brittny, “Advocate’s final question is overruled! Henceforth, the trial is over, and the Defendant is found not guilty of any crimes and shall no longer be implicated by this karma!”

“If the acquittal is again plagued by this karma, the providence of the accuser will be taken away!”
