Eternal Thief

The Talent Ascension Mirror was an imposing, full-length treasure with an obsidian frame etched with golden symbols. The surface appeared as liquid silver, rippling faintly as Ace stepped before it.

‘He said this mirror could evaluate my innate potential and the latent abilities tied to my physique, bloodline, or even unique traits. I can only think of one possible thing he’s hinting at…’

Ace’s eyes were sharp as he gazed into the depths of the mirror, but there wasn’t any reflection at all. But the silver surface seemed to continue to ripple rapidly before the reflection suddenly shifted!

Ace’s eyes suddenly contorted when he saw his Avatar’s reflection in the mirror appearing at this moment. He saw an ethereal cosmic tree filled with countless branches, colossal to no end and seemingly boundless.

‘Cherry blossom of divine twilight?!’ Ace instantly thought of his divine trait, and his heart beat wildly. For the first time, he panicked since he wasn’t expecting this third mirror to reveal this divine trait!

“What kind of divine trait is it!?” Steward Jesper was shocked as he was gawking at the mirror which showed the cosmic tree.

Although the Talent Ascension Mirror could reveal divine traits, it can only project something related to them not their entire details or what kind of divine traits they were.

After all, divine traits were not like fantastic physiques and fantastic meridians and were not finite. However, despite that, the cosmic tree was still terrifying, and Jesper hadn’t seen anything like it in his very long life.

However, the moment the cosmic tree appeared, it only lasted for a moment before the tree seemed to have trembled, and the next moment, the mirror instantly shattered, and Ace was now covered in cold sweat!

‘I should be fine! After all, they have no idea what that tree was, and they’ll think it of some kind of talent or ability! I’ll just pretend to be shocked and surprised!’ Ace’s mind raced as he turned around and looked at Steward Jesper.

Although he ended up destroying all three tests, Ace knew they should be only surface items and replaceable, or Steward Jesper wouldn’t be reacting so calmly.

But the Talent Ascension Mirror still gave him a massive surprise by revealing the Cheery Blossom of Divine Twilight. Although it only lasted for a vague moment, he can’t overlook the fact that his divine talent got probed!

Nonetheless, Ace’s only relief was they wouldn’t know what that tree represents, and they would only think that it was some kind of dormant talent that he couldn’t awake and control yet.

Steward Jesper’s calm demeanor was finally gone as he looked at Ace with disbelief and profound shock. After all, despite every single test being positive, they still have nothing except for Ace having gifts that can’t be uncovered.

At this moment, just when Steward Jesper was wondering what to do, the Matriarch’s solemn voice rang in his head, “Have him join the Evil Slaying Division and keep everything that happened here to yourself!”

Steward Jesper was alarmed when he heard this unexpected arrangement of the Matriarch and quickly sent a reply, “Why? Should he be in Prosperity Sky Division with his one-of-a-kind talent? Placing him in the Evil Slaying Division puts him in the middle of the lion’s den!”

“I don’t need your opinion in this matter. Although he might have some uncanny resemblance, it is still unclear if he’s really the one in the prophecy. Furthermore, don’t forget the one in the prophecy may be our savior, but his arrival also hinted at the impending doom of all.

“Furthermore, the biggest sign of the Chosen Son of Heaven is his sense of Justice, pity for myriad livings, and hate for evil! So, if he’s really the Chosen Son of Heaven, we can easily see through his real nature by putting him in the Evil Slaying Division! So, do as I said!” The Matriarch’s voice was cold and resolute as she wouldn’t listen to any more opinions.

Steward Jesper was also startled but didn’t dare to say anything more since he knew he couldn’t go against the Matriarch’s decision in the entire sect, not even the sect leader.

Furthermore, what she said also made sense, and since he was the only other person who knew about the prophecy, he knew if Ace was the Son of Heaven, he’d be the hope of the entire PHW Sect and could also lead them to new heights of glory.

Ace was unaware of the interaction between Steward Jesper and the Matriarch, and he was thinking if now he would be given some lavish treatment and exposed to sect treasures.

After all, despite the ambiguity of the tests, they neither prove nor reject anything, especially the last one. So, he was fairly sure he might also become a core disciple here, like the AIG Sect.

At this moment, Steward Jesper finally spoke in a solemn tone, “After all the three tests, you are proven to be extraordinary. That’s why you are completely qualified to join the PHW King Sect without anyone’s recommendation or any other tests according to the rules of the sect.

“Furthermore, as you can see, your talent is something we can’t measure, which is both a blessing and a curse. This means that it’s so high that it might never awake and remain dormant for the rest of your life.

“So, you need to work hard, discover yourself, and awaken your latent power. In light of that, I’m going to put you in the Evil Slaying Division of the Seven Prosperity Divisions of the PHW King Sect.

“Evil Slaying Division is the only division among the seven divisions that brighten justice on evil and impose rules on the PHW King Sect in its territory. This is a good place for you to temper yourself!” Steward Jesper solemnly stated, but there was a hint of guilt and worry hidden in depth in his eyes as he knew what kind of place the Evil Slaying Division was!

Ace was also startled by this anointment since this Evil Slaying Division clearly did not sound anything like he had imagined. But since he didn’t know much about the sect and Norman didn’t reveal much about the sect division, he accepted it without giving it much thought.

If only he had known that the Evil Slaying Division was the only place in the entire PHW King Sect that actually had an 80% mortality rate, and every disciple trembled in terror upon hearing its name. No one knew what kind of reaction Ace would have had!
