Eternal Thief

Vincent grimaced and winced his brows when he heard Bernard’s tactless words. Of all the Grand Elders, Vincent was most wary of Bernard because this old man was the youngest among the Grand Elders and the most ambitious.

When the bank fiasco happened, Vincent was glad Bernard wasn’t here; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been as cooperative as Edwin and Inez. But now that Bernard is here, and despite knowing that Vincent’s position at this moment in the sect is extremely strong, he still dares to speak up.

Furthermore, Vincent knew that Bernard was the most unwilling one to discuss Ace’s going to the King Sect, and Vincent had already expected Bernard to try making a move with Eleanor.

However, thinking at this point and glancing at Eleanor, who had this strange look in her eyes.

A peculiar light flashed past his eyes as he thought, ‘Old fool, if you’re trying to play a trick on that girl just because she’s young, then you can only blame yourself for not having eyes!’ His expression eased, and his lips rose slightly in a cold smile. He remained silent as if he was going to watch a great show.

It wasn’t just Vincent; Edwin and Inez also had the same thoughts as Vincent since they had seen Eleanor’s interaction with Norman. Chester was Bernard’s loyal supporter, so he was excited when he thought Bernard was going to make a move.

“Speak and make it quick.” Eleanor dismissively looked at Bernard.

Bernard quickly became happy and didn’t mind Eleanor’s change in tone. He only thought it was normal for her to show courtesy to the Sect Master, and she might not know his identity.

Furthermore, he already knew that Eleanor was a Quasi-Lord, so she was far stronger than him, so he didn’t dare expect anything here.

Taking a deep breath, Bernard bowed and respectfully said, “Your Excellency, this old man has a very talented great-grandson in my clan with dual runic talent and excellent virtues.

“You might not know this, but my great-grandson was also a nominal legacy inheritor of Forger Abyss just like George… I mean, Alan and his talent might not be lost to him by much. So, I was wondering if he could join our human race’s King Sect so he could serve his race!”

When Vincent heard Bernard comparing Nathaniel to Ace, his expression was somewhat comical, as if he was suppressing his laughter. Even Edwin and Inez looked strangely at Bernard.

After all, only these three knew about Ace’s terrifying bloodline. Under the Guardian Spirit’s ‘persuasion,’ they even signed Law Contracts to keep it a secret so Bernard and Chester didn’t know about it all.

However, what Vincent and the two Grand Elders didn’t know was that Eleanor also knew. Although she knew a different version of this ‘bloodline,’ she still knew. According to what she knew and personally witnessed, Ace’s specialty wasn’t just dual runic talent at all; he was a natural spy, assassin, or even thief.

But Eleanor also can’t tell anyone, and she will not even if there wasn’t a law contract between her and Ace since revealing it would only give away her advantage.

Still, a dual runic talent was rare, and if she hadn’t already recruited Ace, she might’ve given Bernard a chance, but now she wasn’t that interested.

Eleanor smiled faintly behind her veil as she said, “If that’s the case, then how about this…the Sun and Moon King Valley opens its gates every fifty years, and the top ten second-grade sects under our domain will send their best disciples to take the valley recruitment test.

“But there are only a hundred spots, and let me tell you, over ten thousand talented disciples always took part in it, including around a hundred dual runic talents.

“I can give the AIG Sect three spots. Whether they can pass the test and join the valley will depend on their own skills. What do you think?”

Not only Bernard but even Vincent was shocked when he heard this since they clearly had no idea about this at all. After all, the AIG Sect could be considered a mid-tier second-grade sect at most, so they naturally won’t be given an invitation or any quota for such an event.

Furthermore, a month ago, they didn’t even know that the Spirit Inferno Domain considered the Sun and Moon King Valley’s lands. But now, Eleanor was giving them three spots, which shouldn’t have been possible normally.

Vincent was now sure that there was someone more behind Eleanor’s generosity, or she wouldn’t have been so kind. But he still didn’t understand what she was after, and all the clues led to Ace.

‘Maybe she fell in love with him? Or did she want to create a bridge between the bank and her sect by using us?’ Vincent thought.

Bernard replied quickly, his eyes filled with joy, “That’s enough, Your Excellency. I couldn’t ask for more. You have our AIG Sect’s eternal gratitude!”

The other three Grand Elders were also thrilled since three spots meant they could also select disciples from their clans. They never expected that Bernard would succeed, instead getting humiliated, so they had no choice but to admit Bernard had given the entire sect a huge favor. Maybe this was also the chance for the AIG Sect to rise!

“Don’t celebrate too soon. Even after I gave you the three slots, you still need to reach the Sun and Moon King Valley, which is very, very far away from the Spirit Inferno Domain, and the path is riddled with dangers.

“Furthermore, the recruitment will start in three years, and if you hurry over now, you may reach in time. Consider this another test from me,” Eleanor revealed, instantly stifling the happy atmosphere.

Bernard and others panicked slightly before they all looked at Eleanor, and their eyes lit up.

“Don’t even think about it.” Eleanor coldly spoke before they could, as she had guessed what these old foxes were thinking, “I won’t help you take your disciples back except for giving you a map. Don’t be greedy, or you might lose everything. Now, you all may go back except for Sect Master. I’ll leave the details to him.”

The Grand Elders smiled stiffly with a hint of embarrassment when Eleanor easily saw through their thoughts, so they could only give up and quickly left after thanking her profusely.

“Forgive those senile seniors of mine if they offended you, Miss. They won’t know when to stop.” Vincent stated apologetically.

Eleanor chuckled, “The old men back home are also like them, so don’t worry; I’m used to it. Now, shall we?”

Vincent narrowed his eyes slightly, smiled amiably, and nodded, “Then I have to trouble you, miss.”

Eleanor’s smile widened as she couldn’t help but subtly glance at the side before she said, “No trouble at all. I’m just making sure the AIG Sect is taken care of after what it’s been through!”
