Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3196 Rewarding A Friend?

Myria distributed one pill each to him, herself, Vereina, Lea, Sophie, and Bylai, so there were three pills remaining that would be fed to Epsila.

He hoped that it would be enough for Epsila to regain her true essence and, perhaps, even break the bottleneck and finally enter the Exalted Tier. With her growing to Exalted Tier, the pill essence she could bestow would be one realm higher, allowing his soul to grow vastly powerful, perhaps even finally catching up with his Essence Gathering Cultivation.

ʼThat means only the body remains to be worked on…ʼ

Davis didnʼt know how to increase the power of his body other than creating the Chaotic Genesis Physique, but its ingredients sure were hard to find even in this bountiful abandoned realm. The other option was for him to merge destructive energy, but that seemed even harder than creating the Chaotic Genesis Physique. After all, it actually got him killed.

Nonetheless, with a clear view of the path for at least two of the cultivation systems, Davis was overjoyed.

He resumed cultivating with absorbing soul essences, refining the impurities, and collecting so many comprehension clouds that he discarded. It all belonged to Feral Beasts of low or mixed-quality blood and such runes, so there was no use in learning them other than flipping through them for a better foundation. If he took insights from them seriously, then attainment would fill his soul, and he wouldnʼt be able to better learn insights.

Thatʼs why he chose to stay away from these low-quality Laws.

However, the soul essences of two Kingly Monarchs of the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realmʼs Hexadra Clan and a few other soul essences that were worthy enough to be comprehended, he was willing to absorb the comprehension clouds, acquiring the insights from them.

Not only were their births superior, as they carried the blood from the descendants of Paragon Magical Beasts, but their Laws were completely of high quality. Otherwise, they wouldnʼt be heavenly geniuses.

As for the Celestial Luminescence Pill, Davis waited.

He was planning to use this pill while being with Vereina so that he could fully understand the intricacies of her physique, imagining that it was surely connected to some type of Law, perhaps Devouring Laws, a fusion between Darkness Laws and Space Laws, or it could be some other Law as well.

”Tch…”

Thinking about her, Davis felt some slight disturbance in his focus.

He was rarely ever that harsh to a woman, but he was done with offering supreme treasures to those who didnʼt have his best interest in their minds. He was fine with exchanging supreme treasures as long as they returned something of equal value, but Vereina offered no such value and just a promise.

If it only was a promise, anyone could do it and dip or die somewhere along the road, so for him to give such an offer, the value of the treasure must be negligible to him and not something like an Empyreal Monarchʼs soul.

But still, he felt like an asshole. After all, the other party was a Divergent.

He was also a Divergent, so he knew how difficult it would be to traverse the world while being scorned, falsely accused, and hunted down most of the time. He knew that she could have similar experiences to Myria, but he treated her quite coldly.

He did not regret his actions as he was angered by her audacity to ask for a supreme treasure after her level for already being under his protection, although he felt that it would be better if he approached it in a better way as she was also just looking out for her own survival.

Davis suddenly stood up, his expression full of irritation.

”The moodʼs spoiled…”

He wanted to take some fresh air as he walked outside, not that he could breathe, considering the heaven and earth energy rejected him. He wanted to test manipulating the heaven and earth energy around him to respond to his absorption, but before that, he went to see Myria, wondering if she was done with her cultivation.

He wanted to see her gorgeous, serene face after he would remove her veil from her face and hear her feminine voice that was once directed to him, full of affection for him. He knew it would help improve his mood, not to mention get closer to her.

ʼShe wouldʼve also absorbed the pill by now…ʼ

Davis thought, finally appearing before her chamber. However, he saw an icy-blue-robed woman standing before Myriaʼs chamber.

”Sect Master Bing Luli, is Myria still cultivating…?”

Bing Luli turned to look at Davis, her gaze flickering.

”Yes. Master is still cultivating.”

Bing Luli answered, causing Davis to become a bit disappointed, but he still nodded and smiled.

”Alright. Let her know that I came for her.”

Bing Luli nodded. Her nod made Davis feel a bit awkward as he forgot about giving Bing Luli a pill that would allow her cultivation to improve. Myria didnʼt recommend it to her either, and neither did Bing Luli ask for it, but he knew she was a trustworthy disciple and loyal friend to Myria.

ʼThis… she is an exemplary woman who asks nothing in return other than a loyal relationship…ʼ

Davis felt any person should be like this instead of asking for resources time and time again without settling their debts in the first place.

”…”

Bing Luli looked away, her cheeks slightly reddening as she felt like he looked at her too long. Turning to look at him again, her gaze shook as she saw that he had closed the distance between them.

”Do you have any wish that I could fulfill?”

”What…?”

”You have filled Myriaʼs loneliness and accompanied by her side for more time than anyone in her life probably, giving her warmth when I or Ellia couldnʼt. I wish to repay you, do something for you even if that isnʼt your intent in accompanying Myriaʼs side.”

Davis openly stated his wishes, causing Bing Luli to stare at him as though she was speechless. Nonetheless, she lowered her head and gave it a thought, pondering over his words when suddenly, she couldnʼt help but feel an emotion swelling in her heart.

Unable to control it, she raised her head, looking at him with wronged, cold eyes.

”I… I hate you.”

”…”

Davis became stumped as he saw Bing Luli turn her body and look elsewhere, her gaze distant.

”You know what exactly I want as you have Heart Intent, yet you act as though you know nothing and say to me that you want to reward me? Even if youʼre the strongest here, thereʼs a limit to how patronizing you can be~”

Her voice was icy, devoid of the usual gentle tone she always spoke with, adding further, ”Iʼm not afraid of you. I already died once. Twice wouldnʼt make a difference.”

Davis had the urge to scratch his head, wondering what he did wrong again.

”Sect Master Bing Luli, it seems like thereʼs a misunderstanding here.”

He smiled, reaching out his hand to grab her wrist, causing Bing Luliʼs eyes to widen as she turned to look at him.

”Itʼs not about taking you for a fool or taking advantage of your affection. Do you know what happens if I start acting on my smallest or cheapest desires I contrive?”

He pulled her closer. As a result, Bing Luli lost balance and almost tripped on him, but she didnʼt as his soul force lifted her up, stopping her from falling while he let her hand go and spread his hands.

”The world around me will crumble, and I will lose all respect from the women I love, finding myself destitute of the very warmth I yearn for. Sect Master, will you fall for such a lousy, undisciplined man?”

Davis grinned as he asked, causing Bing Luli to appear speechless. He turned around, appearing to shake his head.

”The duality of a womanʼs taste is quite the controversy. Donʼt you think so, Sect Master-”

”I have already told you not to address me as Sect Master.” Echoed Bing Luli, ”Itʼs like this always. You intentionally put some distance between us, disallowing me to even say a single word...!”

She clenched her teeth and voiced out, causing Davis to be dumbfounded before he turned to look at her.

There was an icy-blue-robed beauty with teary, aggrieved eyes. Turning away, she opened the door to the chamber and hurriedly closed it, leaving Davis behind, wondering if she was going to complain to Myria that he made her cry, but more than that, he felt his mood sour further.

”Just what do you see in this boring man…?”

He scratched his head as he only had cultivation and survival in his mind. As for romance, his heart was already filled as deep as it could be, seriously leaving no leeway for someone to enter that everything else became a nuisance. Even then, he didnʼt have time to entertain them all unless he reached the top, which was at least an extremely long wait time, according to his calculations.

From his perspective, all those who fell in love with him at this point were signing up for misery.

”Do you go grabbing and cornering every woman you see in your palace?”

Davis turned to look to the hallway and saw Vereina walking towards him with a smug smile.
