Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3168 A Real Exchange

”…”

Davis couldnʼt help but wryly smile.

He told them to continue ahead, but instead, they went ahead and attacked the Transcendents, completely evicting themselves from the hidden temple.

Lea stood beside him and held his sleeve, appearing to be a bit moved because of his actions. She didnʼt say anything, but her gaze conveyed her emotions of gratitude, causing Davis to raise his hand and pat her hand.

”Well, so what if weʼre failures? Weʼre still together.”

Davis chuckled, causing the others to laugh lightly.

”The path of least resistance is the path of weakness.”

Myria spoke, ”The Astral Pill Upper Realm and Forgeheart Peak Upper Realm probably designed this challenge in order to test the fortitude of alchemists and forgemasters so that they donʼt end up getting provoked when publicly concocting pills or forging armaments, easily losing control over their art.”

”But if this challenge is aimed towards all cultivators, then we still donʼt need to digest any provocation, holding ourselves back. Weak people holding themselves back when provoked isnʼt fortitude. Itʼs fear. When powerful people hold themselves back when provoked, it isnʼt fortitude either. Itʼs sympathy. Itʼs only when equals hold back against harming each other, would you call it mental fortitude. After all, the threat of death is equal on both sides.”

”Makes sense.” Davis nodded.

”Elder sister Myria is truly knowledgeable. I would like to learn more from you~”

Sophie echoed from the side, causing Myriaʼs gaze to fall on her. She looked at her strangely, but Sophie still had an innocent smile, causing Myria to look away.

Davis lightly laughed in happiness. Myria was trying to console him once again, but Sophie was just taking advantage, having made Myria one of them already, and with Myria staying silent, it was no different than tacit approval.

He was overjoyed but didnʼt let it show on his face or make things awkward as Myria did say to not let his guard down here and wanted to take it outside, which meant that she would most likely agree to become his once they return to the First Haven World.

He didnʼt want to force things now that it was almost, perhaps, already settled.

”In any case, how long are we stuck here?” Myria asked as she adjusted her white hair strands.

”An hour.”

Davis pursed his lips, ”Letʼs not dwell over what couldʼve been done. We may really have to resort to plundering the pill from the one who brings back the pill at this rate.”

”It could be the case.”

Myria nodded in acknowledgment and thought about his words.

The thought that she shouldʼve stayed and hurried to the fourth floor was also on her mind, but for some reason, when he made the choice to kill those hateful people who thought they wouldnʼt be harmed, she had also turned vindictive, unable to withstand those blatant attacks on their virtuous nature.

Indeed, they thought they werenʼt going to be attacked, and even if attacked, the formation present there would protect them, but it turned out that not even their own defensive talismans activated due to the blinding speed of his attack.

She also barely managed to kill those hateful people who tried to step up at the last moment, even if they were kidding because they joined people who said something they shouldnʼt have said, courting death together.

Nonetheless, having come to a conclusion, they began to wait.

Two disciples of the Onyx Shadow Lower Realm were here, but Davis merely glanced at them and looked away since they were not at fault, although if they wanted to take revenge, he didnʼt mind sending them off, which he made sure to tell them with soul transmission, causing their expressions to change.

After some time, he looked towards Aric Stormsongʼs fiancee.

”So you were also unable to hold back, Keira Stormsong Stormsong?”

”…”

Keira Stormsongʼs gaze shook as she saw Davis approach her, causing her to feel anxiety. However, she forcefully opened her mouth.

”You could say that. I passed the first level at the third time because so many made fun of me but still failed at the second level as my defensive talisman activated, causing the temple to transport me and the others out as they were also unable to endure.”

”I see.”

Davis stood before her, appearing to tower over her figure, causing her to tremble.

”Wha- what do you want?”

”Donʼt worry. Iʼm not interested in other menʼs fiancee. I have some free time, so I just wanted to know how your Stormsong Familyʼs white lightning can cause death energy to be affected negatively. Mind showing off some skills?”

”…”

Keira Stormsong didnʼt know what his plan was, but she also wondered why their white lightning didnʼt affect his death energy when it was used to kill Fiends all the time.

Was it so pure as he said? She couldnʼt even understand that concept when it came to death energy, so she made up her mind to test that so-called purity of his death energy and break it.

She sincerely started showing off her lightning arts, causing Davis to be impressed as he watched, dissected, and learned through his eyes.

While this was happening, Myria seemed to be teaching Tina and Dalila to expound on her knowledge while others also began listening to her, their expressions full of awe. The two Celestial Fairies who also made a move to attack and sent out were also intrigued by Myria, wondering who under the heavens she was for her to be this knowledgeable.

Within this time, she even conducted trade with the young geniuses from the true immortal world, having some unexpected gains. With her wearing a white robe and having a graceful air attracted them all, but little did they know that she killed two people inside the hidden temple.

Forty-five minutes later, many people went inside the temple as they seemed to have waited out their cooldown period to enter while a few were evicted from the hidden palace, one of them Fairy Nila.

Davis caught her in his gaze and wanted to say thanks for warning him but was worried that she might be bullied for it, causing him to look away. He was also done with Keira Stormsongʼs lightning show. Actually, she was lying on the ground before him, having attempted to murder him to get back Aric Stormsong but got punched in the gut, becoming faint and leaking blood from her mouth.

It didnʼt offend him but only made him respect her as she seemed to still hold feelings for that good for nothing.

ʼAs expected… heavenly geniuses with such karmic luck really donʼt fall out of grace…ʼ

But seeing this scene, her fellow disciples didnʼt even come to help or raise their voices, which made him wonder if they would even consider trading resources to get back Aric Stormsong.

Davisʼs thought was if he couldnʼt kill these heavenly geniuses because of causing the flow of fate to be heavily disrupted, then he was going to utterly treat them as merchandise that would enrich him, hostages or whatever that fitted the term as he was literally kidnapping and demanding a ransom.

Some people could be killed, but the heir or close to an heir of the throne cannot be taken lightly as karmic luck could gather on them if they had the fate to rule, just like he speculated Myria had fate with Fallen Heaven.

Thatʼs why Aric Stormsong, who was probably only second in line to the throne, couldnʼt be killed because he may rule the Thundering Serenity Upper Realm or might even be a big character in that realm who props it up and defends.

”Itʼs time…”

Myriaʼs voice fell on Davisʼs ears, causing him to stand up and dust his pants before leaving.

”Let me know what price youʼre willing to pay before the realm could completely collapse…”

He gave a thumbs up to Keira Stormsong, causing her to feel like spitting out blood once again as she truly felt humiliated, unable to do anything against him even though she was also as strong as Aric Stormsong if she used her Divine Technique, which she was about to use but got punched into fainting.

On the other hand, Davis narrowed his eyes as he entered the hidden temple along with his people again, his eyes filled with confusion.

Why wasnʼt the Celestial Luminescence Pill still obtained?

Could it be that they were stuck in the third level?

ʼOr is it the fourth level where luck is required?ʼ

Davis wondered, eventually stepping onto the first level again, but his brows twitched, seeing that it was empty.

”Pfft~”

Sophie almost burst out laughing, knowing all the Transcendents in this area decided to be silent and not provoke each other so that they could hurry to the next level and not meet the menace.
