Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 640: Chapter 639: The Fisherman’s Profit

The forces of the Sixth and Seventh Commanders instantly erupted into a massive battle. At first, no one knew why they were fighting. However, after the Monk and the Daoist killed one of the Divine Palace Warriors from the Sixth Commander’s side, the conflict inevitably exploded.

Lin Jianhong and Song Tianyang, each still plotting how to ambush the other, were stunned when they arrived at the designated meeting point and saw the scene before them.

’Why are the Sixth and Seventh Commanders both here? And they’re in the middle of a huge fight!’

Lin Jianhong wondered why the Seventh Commander was there. Meanwhile, Song Tianyang was asking himself the same question about the Sixth Commander.

”Young Master Lin, Song Tianyang arranged for the Seventh Commander to ambush you! We ran into them when we arrived,” the Sixth Commander, already locked in a bloody battle with the Seventh Commander, shouted to Lin Jianhong.

Hearing this, Lin Jianhong shot a fierce glare at Song Tianyang, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

Seeing this, Song Tianyang saw no more reason to hide. In an instant, just like the Sixth and Seventh Commanders, the two of them clashed.

Song Tianyang and Lin Jianhong were equal in Combat Power, so it was impossible to determine a victor between them in a short amount of time. This time, however, both were determined to kill the other, and neither showed the slightest mercy in their attacks.

Lin Jianhong’s Battle Intent, at the Great Success stage, soared to the heavens, while Song Tianyang repeatedly blasted out his Infinite Killing Fist. With their duel raging, the battle between the Sixth and Seventh Commanders grew even more inseparable.

People on both sides were being killed. Though they were all Divine Palace Warriors, they were now blinded by fury and could think of nothing else.

Song Tianyang threw a punch at Lin Jianhong. Facing this full-powered blow, Lin Jianhong brandished his longsword and slashed. The blade’s edge transformed into a gigantic eagle of Elemental Power, which clashed violently with Song Tianyang’s Infinite Killing Fist.

As their Martial Skills deadlocked in mid-air, Song Tianyang roared, ”Lin Jianhong, you hired assassins from the Death Row Shelter to slaughter my entire family! Today, you will pay that debt!”

Not to be outdone by Song Tianyang’s accusation, Lin Jianhong roared back in fury, ”Hmph! Song Tianyang, you know perfectly well what you’ve done! Ten years ago, assassins you hired from the Death Row Shelter slaughtered every last one of the several hundred people in my family! You’re the one who will be paying the debt today!”

Once a fight begins, people tend to overlook the details. This was the case for Lin Jianhong and Song Tianyang. The deep-seated enmity between them had already been stoked into a raging fire of hatred, leaving them in no mood to consider any inconsistencies in the situation.

The battle raged on. Who could have predicted that Song Tianyang and Lin Jianhong would end up in such a confrontation, dragging the Divine Palace’s Sixth and Seventh Commanders into a bloody conflict as well?

By now, the fighting had reached a point of no return. Seeing that the time was right, the Monk and the Daoist quietly decided to make their escape.

With the skills of the Monk and the Daoist, slipping away from such a chaotic scene was no difficult task.

Having escaped the battlefield, the Monk and the Daoist rushed into the nearby forest, where the Black-striped Tiger was already waiting. Without a word, they leaped onto its back. The three of them then sped off toward Divine Celestial City like a bolt of lightning. As for the battle between Song Tianyang and Lin Jianhong, there was no longer any need to concern themselves with it. Both men had finally unleashed years of suppressed rage; their fight would not end until one of them was dead.

Meanwhile, the ten Grand Commanders of the Demon Palace were leading five thousand Demon Palace Warriors in an attack on the Divine Palace’s city. In the main hall of Divine Celestial City, Qing Zhu received the news and immediately ordered his men to summon Song Tianyang, Lin Jianhong, and Wei Yunhang.

However, after a search of the entire Divine Celestial City, only Wei Yunhang arrived at the main hall. Song Tianyang and Lin Jianhong were nowhere to be found.

”What? The two of them left the city together today?” Qing Zhu’s brow furrowed upon hearing the report from the Grand Commander of the Divine Palace.

Seeing Qing Zhu’s simmering anger, the Grand Commander stammered, ”That’s right, and...”

”And what? Spit it out,” Qing Zhu pressed.

”And... one hour before they left, the Sixth and Seventh Commanders also departed from Divine Celestial City, one after the other,” the Grand Commander said.

Hearing this, Qing Zhu sensed something was wrong and his thoughts immediately went to Lin Yun. ’I’ve been so busy with the Demon Palace affair these past few days that I’ve completely overlooked him. Knowing Lin Yun’s personality, the fact that he’s been so quiet is the strangest thing of all.’

”Do you know where they went?” Qing Zhu asked.

The Grand Commander shook his head, indicating he didn’t know. A dark premonition grew in Qing Zhu’s heart. The Demon Palace was launching a frontal assault, yet Song Tianyang and Lin Jianhong were both missing—along with the Sixth and Seventh Commanders.

’Things are definitely not that simple.’ Taking Wei Yunhang with him, Qing Zhu led his men directly to the small courtyard where Lin Yun lived.

Qing Zhu had realized something was amiss, but it was clearly too late. By now, Song Tianyang and Lin Jianhong were locked in an inseparable struggle. With a feud born from the annihilation of their families, their hatred had been fully ignited. This was destined to be a fight to the death.

The Sixth and Seventh Commanders were likewise locked in a bloody battle. Over a hundred of the Divine Palace Warriors they had brought with them were already dead or injured, and both commanders bore several wounds inflicted by the other.

”Infinite Killing Fist...” A punch blasted toward Lin Jianhong’s chest. Seeing Song Tianyang’s ferocious, tiger-like punch, Lin Jianhong had no intention of dodging. His eyes had turned blood-red, and at the same time, he thrust his sword toward Song Tianyang’s heart.

The Infinite Killing Fist slammed into Lin Jianhong’s chest, while Lin Jianhong’s longsword plunged into Song Tianyang’s chest. In the end, however, the blade stopped just an inch shy of piercing his heart.

”Lin Jianhong, today you die!” Though he had been stabbed through the chest and blood was spraying from the wound, Song Tianyang roared with undiminished killing intent.

Not losing an ounce of momentum despite Song Tianyang’s roar, Lin Jianhong spat out a mouthful of blood and retorted coldly, ”Song Tianyang, you’re the one who’s going to die today! No one can save you!”

Both men were now covered in wounds. Gritting his teeth, Song Tianyang gripped the blade that Lin Jianhong had run through his chest and brutally yanked it from his own body.

Clutching Lin Jianhong’s longsword tightly in his right hand, Song Tianyang threw a vicious punch with his left. Unable to use his now-captured weapon, Lin Jianhong formed his left hand into a claw and swiped viciously at Song Tianyang’s chest.

They clashed again. Song Tianyang’s fist slammed into Lin Jianhong’s chest, instantly causing his entire sternum to collapse. At the same time, Lin Jianhong’s Celestial Eagle Claw tore savagely into Song Tianyang’s chest.

Four deep, bone-exposing gashes tore the flesh from Song Tianyang’s chest, leaving his white sternum exposed to the air.
