Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 630: Chapter 629: The One Who Will Not Yield

Xi Zijin took one last, deep look at Lin Yun battling the Divine Palace Warriors. Tear tracks still glistened on her face as she murmured, ”Lin Yun, you have to make it out of this. I’ll be waiting for you.”

After saying that, Xi Zijin bit her lip hard, turned, and flew off into the distance.

Everyone else had fled, leaving only Lin Yun behind. Surrounded by hundreds of Divine Palace Warriors, it would be no easy feat to carve a bloody path to safety.

To make matters worse, with everyone else gone, even more Divine Palace Warriors were now converging on Lin Yun’s position.

The Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear in his hand struck out again and again as Lin Yun reaped the lives of the Divine Palace Warriors. But their numbers were simply too great, and after the brutal exchange, Lin Yun was wounded nonetheless.

Two slashes from the Divine Palace Warriors scored his back, and a palm strike slammed into his chest. Watching the ever-increasing number of enemies, Lin Yun’s mind raced to find a way out.

’Xi Zijin left almost a hundred breaths ago,’ Lin Yun thought. ’She should be somewhere safe by now. Now... how do I get out of here?’

Their numbers were already approaching five hundred, with more Divine Palace Warriors still rushing to join the fray. They formed a tight encirclement several layers deep around Lin Yun. One by one, the warriors roared at him.

”You of the Demon Palace, surrender or die!”

”Even if you’re some heaven-sent prodigy, there’s no way you can escape from this many of us! Just surrender!”

Listening to the roars of the Divine Palace Warriors, a cold smile touched Lin Yun’s lips. He murmured, ”Surrender? Sorry, that word isn’t in my vocabulary.”

With those words, Lin Yun moved. Spotting a weak point in the encirclement, he shot forward like a bolt of lightning, his Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear wreathed in purple Flame.

Single-mindedly focused on breaking out, Lin Yun completely ignored the surrounding Divine Palace Warriors. In his desperate charge, he quickly accumulated several new wounds.

He spat out mouthful after mouthful of fresh blood, yet he neither dodged nor evaded the Divine Palace Warriors’ attacks, his mind set on one thing only: charging toward the city gates.

’He’s insane!’ The Divine Palace Warriors all thought Lin Yun had gone mad. No defense, no evasion—only attack. Soon, it looked as if Lin Yun would tear a hole through their encirclement by sheer force.

”Stop him! Hurry, stop him...!” many of the Divine Palace Warriors shouted, seeing the tide turn.

And yet, faced with Lin Yun’s relentless charge, the encirclement was finally breached. Without a moment’s hesitation after breaking free, Lin Yun activated his Qingfeng Body Technique and shot toward the city gates.

He had successfully broken through. But just as Lin Yun thought he was in the clear, having flown just over a thousand meters, he came to an abrupt halt.

There, blocking his path, were Wei Yunhang, Song Tianyang, and Lin Jianhong. Lin Yun’s expression remained unchanged as he looked at the trio, but inwardly he knew. ’I was a step too late.’

”Go on, run, Lin Yun. Why’d you stop?” Song Tianyang taunted with a laugh.

”Kneel and kowtow three times, Lin Yun, and I might grant you a quick death,” Wei Yunhang added.

The trio of Wei Yunhang, Song Tianyang, and Lin Jianhong had arrived even faster than the elite Divine Palace forces. Qing Zhu may have ordered them to capture Lin Yun alive, but that was the last thing on their minds now. This was too good an opportunity to pass up. Lin Yun had to die.

As Lin Yun faced the trio, the hundreds of Divine Palace Warriors caught up from behind, sealing his fate. He had no route of escape. But to expect Lin Yun to beg for mercy? Was that even possible?

”You pathetic ants think you can kill me, Lin Yun? Then come and fight!” Lin Yun snarled at the trio, his voice dripping with killing intent.

Though he was in a desperate plight, Lin Yun didn’t give up. ’If you give up on yourself, then all hope is truly lost,’ he thought. ’No matter what, you can never give up.’

He gripped the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear tightly. Sensing the unyielding will to survive in Lin Yun’s heart, the spear began to vibrate violently as the faint cry of a dragon echoed from it.

Seeing Lin Yun’s defiance, Wei Yunhang and the others simply sneered, showing no intention of joining the fight themselves. Lin Jianhong, who had been silent until now, chuckled as he looked at Lin Yun.

”Lin Yun, I know your Combat Power is impressive. But in a situation like this, do you really think we need to lift a finger? I’m quite interested to see just how many Divine Palace Warriors you can kill today.”

Wei Yunhang and the other two had no intention of acting. In moments, the hundreds of Divine Palace Warriors had surrounded Lin Yun once more. With a furious roar, the warriors attacked from all sides.

Hovering high above, Wei Yunhang’s trio watched with cruel smiles. They savored moments like this—watching a man’s hope slowly curdle into despair.

Facing the renewed assault of hundreds of Divine Palace Warriors, Lin Yun fought on, bathed in blood. The wounds on his body multiplied, but it seemed they had no effect on him; on the contrary, they only served to further ignite his Battle Intent.

His Great Success Battle Intent surged to the heavens. He brandished the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear, and every Divine Palace Warrior who charged him was mercilessly slain.

However, as the number of slain Divine Palace Warriors grew, Lin Yun’s own injuries grew more severe. After an hour of bloody battle, Lin Yun had cut down the hundreds of Divine Palace Warriors until only about a hundred remained.

By this point, Lin Yun himself was grievously wounded. Drenched in blood, he stared down the hundred-odd remaining Divine Palace Warriors.

He had single-handedly killed hundreds of Divine Palace Warriors. The ground where they fought was now covered with hundreds of silent corpses.

”Lin Yun, you’re running on fumes! Are you still going to resist?” Wei Yunhang shouted from above.

Lin Yun ignored him. His eyes merely swept dispassionately over the hundred or so remaining Divine Palace Warriors. As his gaze passed over them, a chill inexplicably rose in their hearts.

”Is that all of you?” he asked the hundred-plus men lightly. Even now, Lin Yun showed no sign of bowing his head, much less surrendering.

”Lin Yun, let’s see just how long you can hold out. Kill him!” Wei Yunhang’s voice turned to ice as he commanded again.

The Divine Palace Warriors could also see that Lin Yun was a spent force. After fighting desperately to kill so many of their comrades, the wounds he carried were already severe.

The entire area fell silent for a moment. The silence was broken by the charge of a hundred Divine Palace Warriors. Roaring in fury, they rushed at Lin Yun from all sides.

In his current state, Lin Yun knew he couldn’t handle another hundred Divine Palace Warriors. But just as they reached him, he suddenly let out a low, furious roar.

”Thunderfire Bombardment—Reverse!”
