Chapter 626: Chapter 626: Slaughter on the City Wall

Lin Yun and the others flew directly onto the city wall. When the Divine Palace Warriors saw them approaching, they didn’t question why there were so few attackers. On the contrary, they shouted in even greater shock.

”Light the red smoke signal! It’s one of the Descended from the Demon Palace! Hurry...!”

They didn’t have Sound Transmission Stones, but Qing Zhu had already planned for this. After all, she had taken precautions, fearing Lin Yun might launch a feint to deliberately lure away the Divine Palace’s elite forces.

This was also why Lin Yun had insisted that he and his companions act as the bait; Qing Zhu would hardly take the hook for ordinary Demon Race warriors.

Lighting the red smoke signal was a way to tell Qing Zhu that one of the Descended from the Demon Palace was among the attackers.

They landed directly on the city wall. The Divine Palace had only left two thousand warriors to defend it, but all two thousand were Martial Artists at the Celestial Spirit Realm Level.

”Kill...!” The moment they landed, Lin Yun and his companions were surrounded. With thunderous war cries, the Divine Palace Warriors swarmed them.

Facing the Divine Palace Warriors’ assault, Lin Yun and the others split up, each engaging the enemy in battle on the city wall.

They split their forces. Lin Yun and the humans fought on the city wall, while Little Ape and the Black-striped Tiger charged the city gate head-on. At the sight of a ten-meter-tall, burly War Ape and a ferocious tiger seven or eight meters long, the Divine Palace dispatched a large number of warriors to intercept and surround them.

Facing hundreds of Divine Palace Warriors by himself, Lin Yun’s objective wasn’t to kill as many as possible, but to stall for time. As such, he fought defensively, dodging and parrying to conserve his energy.

After dodging an attack from a Divine Palace Warrior, Lin Yun used the opening to thrust his spear at the man. Unfortunately, the blow wasn’t fatal and only wounded him.

The entire city wall descended into chaos. The combat power of Lin Yun’s group was formidable. This was especially true because in the past month, both Lin Yun and Xi Zijin had broken through to the Peak of the Celestial Spirit Realm, making their combat power several times greater than it was before.

Divine Palace Warriors charged relentlessly toward Lin Yun’s group. The space on the wall was too restrictive, leaving them no choice but to leap down and continue the fight with the Divine Palace Warriors inside the city proper.

Inside the city were many of the Divine Palace’s women and children. Upon seeing the great battle, the children didn’t react with the expected tears and wailing. They even attempted to launch sneak attacks on Lin Yun and his companions.

Just a moment ago, for example, Lin Yun had run past a child who looked to be only seven or eight years old. With his guard down, the child had actually pulled a dagger from his clothes and plunged it into Lin Yun’s back.

’I can’t believe a child this young would attack,’ Lin Yun thought. He sent the child flying with a palm strike and yanked the dagger out of his back.

He didn’t kill him. The child was simply too young, and Lin Yun couldn’t bring himself to land a fatal blow.

By this point in the battle, Lin Yun, the Monk and Daoist, and Xi Zijin had long been separated from each other. No one knew anyone else’s position; they were all fighting on their own.

Fighting as he retreated, Lin Yun fell back to the city’s central plaza. The dozens of Divine Palace Warriors who had been chasing him all this way took advantage of the moment he paused, surrounding him completely.

The reason Lin Yun had stopped was because of several massive iron cages surrounding the plaza. Imprisoned within them were many people from the Demon Palace.

There were men and women, old and young, and even a good number of Demon Palace warriors.

It appeared these were all people from the Demon Palace who had been captured by the Divine Palace. Judging by their condition, they had been imprisoned here and subjected to endless humiliation and beatings.

Each person was covered in wounds and filth, but the moment they saw Lin Yun, their eyes all flashed with excitement.

However, when they saw that Lin Yun was alone, the light in their eyes dimmed. How could one person possibly be a match for so many Divine Palace Warriors? Besides, more warriors would only continue to arrive as time went on.

’I’m not running anymore.’ Having seen them, Lin Yun decided to save them. As for whether they could successfully escape to Demon City, that would depend on their own luck.

Faint draconic roars began to echo from the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear in his hand. Its bone-white shaft radiated a heart-stopping aura.

For now, only a few dozen Divine Palace Warriors surrounded him, but he knew more would be arriving soon. He had to end this quickly.

He executed his Red Flame Spear Technique. In an instant, the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear was wreathed in dazzling, purple flames.

Wielding the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear, Lin Yun took the offensive. The Divine Palace Warriors held weapons of their own, but how could they compare to the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear? On contact, their weapons were sliced apart by the spear as if they were made of tofu.

Facing dozens of Celestial Spirit Realm Martial Artists at once, the true terror of the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear was on full display. Thanks to it, Lin Yun’s combat power became monstrous. The Divine Palace Warriors, lacking Spirit Soldiers of their own, stood no chance at all.

In the short span of a dozen breaths, Lin Yun had already slain no fewer than ten Divine Palace Warriors. They were all men who, not understanding the terror of the spear, had foolishly tried to meet the Demon Stock Heaven-Dominating Spear head-on.

After felling more than ten warriors, Lin Yun began to gather power for his Dual Dragon World Destruction. After charging for several breaths, he let out a low growl, ”Dual Dragon World Destruction.”

Instantly, two dragon shadows, each over two hundred meters long, erupted from the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear. As his own strength had grown, so too had the terrifying power of his Dual Dragon World Destruction.

These two Dragon Shadows were now practically indistinguishable from True Dragons. Their Dragon Scales, claws, and Lung Xu all looked incredibly lifelike. Even the might they radiated created the illusion that they were two actual True Dragons.

The Dragon Shadows rampaged across the plaza. The Divine Palace Warriors had never witnessed such a terrifying Martial Skill. Utterly powerless to retaliate, they were devoured whole by the Dragon Shadows.

As he successfully slew dozens of Divine Palace Warriors, the Demon Palace captives in the iron cages stared, completely dumbfounded. ’Who is this man? He took down dozens of Divine Palace Warriors all by himself!’

The key to defeating dozens of Divine Palace Warriors so easily was, in fact, the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear.

Without Spirit Soldiers, the Divine Palace Warriors stood no chance against Lin Yun in a direct confrontation. The difference between a Mortal Soldier and a Spirit Soldier was as vast as that between heaven and earth.

Furthermore, the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear had an awakened Artifact Spirit, making it an invincible weapon among Celestial Spirit Soldiers.

A full hundred breaths passed before the two Dragon Shadows finally dissipated. While the massive phantoms had eliminated so many Divine Palace Warriors, they had also attracted the attention of many more. Already, scores of Divine Palace Warriors were rushing toward his location.
