Chapter 638: Chapter 637: Lin Yun’s Plan (Part 2)

Lin Jianhong looked at Xi Zijin but said nothing. The two of them just stood there, facing each other. In the end, it was Xi Zijin who broke the silence.

”I didn’t expect you to come.” Xi Zijin’s expression was calm. She was doing this of her own free will and had long since resolved not to disappoint Lin Yun.

Hearing this, Lin Jianhong replied, ”Did you call me here to ask me to rescue Lin Yun?”

Ever since seeing Xi Zijin, Lin Jianhong had been secretly observing his surroundings. He noted that there was no one else nearby, and he couldn’t sense even a hint of killing intent from her. From his perspective, that left only one possible reason for her to summon him: to ask him to rescue Lin Yun.

However, to Lin Jianhong’s surprise, Xi Zijin simply shook her head and said, ”No, I don’t want you to rescue Lin Yun. Besides, you couldn’t do it anyway, could you?”

Xi Zijin’s tone remained as icy as ever. Hearing her words, Lin Jianhong was confused. ’If not to ask me to rescue Lin Yun, then why am I here?’

Seeing the confusion on Lin Jianhong’s face, Xi Zijin said, ”Lin Yun was poisoned by a Celestial Demon Pill, wasn’t he?”

Lin Jianhong nodded.

”And there is no cure in this world for the Celestial Demon Pill’s poison, correct?”

Lin Jianhong nodded again.

”So in that case, even if Lin Yun were rescued, what would be the point? To just wait for the Celestial Demon Pill’s poison to flare up and kill him?” Xi Zijin said.

Faced with Xi Zijin’s string of questions, Lin Jianhong found himself pondering. ’She’s right. Poisoned by a Celestial Demon Pill... even if we did rescue Lin Yun, what then? Even an Alchemy Grandmaster can’t neutralize its poison.’

In Lin Yun’s current situation, leaving Qing Zhu was equivalent to suicide. Thus, Lin Jianhong didn’t doubt Xi Zijin’s words, as they were factually correct. Of course, that ”fact” was based on the premise that Lin Yun didn’t have the Demon Emperor’s Blood Pool. But now that he did, everything was different. Lin Yun paid the Celestial Demon Pill’s poison no mind at all.

”Then why did you ask me to meet you here?” Lin Jianhong asked. He wasn’t foolish enough to believe Xi Zijin had invited him for a romantic chat.

”Since Lin Yun can’t be rescued, I want to do something for him,” Xi Zijin replied coolly.

’One thing?’ Lin Jianhong had no idea what Xi Zijin wanted him to do. However, once he heard her request, he fell silent.

What Xi Zijin wanted Lin Jianhong to do was kill Song Tianyang. In her eyes, Lin Yun’s capture and subsequent poisoning with the Celestial Demon Pill were all Song Tianyang’s fault.

Upon hearing Xi Zijin ask him to kill Song Tianyang, Lin Jianhong was silent for a long moment. Finally, he spoke slowly, ”You should know that Song Tianyang and I are both members of the Qing Zhu Association now. Do you really think I can kill him?”

”It is possible. You and I have been two of the Eastern Domain’s Five Great Demon Fiends for so many years; did you think I was unaware of the grudge between you and Song Tianyang? Besides, even though you’re both in the Qing Zhu Association, given your relationship, a battle between you is inevitable sooner or later...” Xi Zijin said slowly.

From the very beginning, Lin Yun had planned for everything, including how to persuade Lin Jianhong.

Lin Yun knew from the start that Xi Zijin’s request alone wouldn’t be enough to make Lin Jianhong take action. It was obvious that to get him to move against Song Tianyang, they would have to exploit the history between the two men.

This was because Lin Yun knew that Lin Jianhong and Song Tianyang shared a deep personal feud. The two had always kept it suppressed, but even now, after both joining the Qing Zhu Association, the hatred in their hearts remained unresolved.

As for the source of their hatred, there were many reasons. Part of it was due to Xi Zijin, and part was the competition between them as fellow Demon Fiends. But there was one key incident that had turned their rivalry into a blood feud.

Lin Jianhong was the Demon Fiend from Celestial Eagle Valley; this was common knowledge. However, few people knew about his family background.

Lin Jianhong’s family had once been a major power in the Southeast Domain, on par with a family like the Yanhuang Royal Family. But one night, ten years ago, his entire family was slaughtered by assassins from the Death Row Shelter. Not even a single maid or servant was spared.

The incident was not widely publicized, and because the Death Row Shelter had been the perpetrators, no one knew who had actually hired them to annihilate Lin Jianhong’s family.

But while others didn’t know, Lin Jianhong did. Because he had returned the favor in kind.

Just like Lin Jianhong’s family, Song Tianyang’s family had also been completely wiped out overnight by the Death Row Shelter.

This was a well-kept secret, but Xi Zijin knew it. Both men carried the hatred of having their entire families exterminated. And in both cases, the Death Row Shelter had been hired by the other to do the deed.

As Xi Zijin recounted the past, Lin Jianhong’s expression grew darker and darker. In the end, he agreed to kill Song Tianyang, but on one condition: after they left the ruins, Xi Zijin must marry him.

They spoke for more than an hour. In the end, Lin Jianhong left with a grim face. The memories of the past caused his killing intent to surge uncontrollably—it was, after all, the hatred born from the annihilation of his entire family.

As Lin Jianhong was leaving Divine Celestial City, he was unaware that Lin Yun had already sent a maid to summon Song Tianyang.

Song Tianyang and Lin Yun already had a feud. Initially, Song Tianyang didn’t want to come, but he was curious about why Lin Yun would summon him, so he showed up in the end.

Song Tianyang didn’t bother to put on a pleasant face for Lin Yun, but Lin Yun paid it no mind. He simply repeated the same words that had been said to Lin Jianhong, verbatim.

After hearing Lin Yun’s words, Song Tianyang’s reaction was identical to Lin Jianhong’s: he left the small courtyard without saying a word.

The next morning, Song Tianyang also left the city, accompanied by his trusted subordinates—the Seventh Commander of the Divine Palace and several dozen Divine Palace Warriors.

On a hillside two hundred meters west of Divine Celestial City, Song Tianyang met with Xi Zijin.

As for what Xi Zijin said to Song Tianyang, it was, of course, the same as what she had told Lin Jianhong. And Song Tianyang’s decision was also identical: he agreed, but on the condition that after they left the ruins, Xi Zijin must marry him.

The deed was done. Song Tianyang had returned to Divine Celestial City. Lin Yun sat alone in a bamboo chair, his expression devoid of joy or sorrow. Word had come from Xi Zijin that both men had agreed. Lin Yun felt no surprise at this; it was all within his expectations.

”Song Tianyang, Lin Jianhong... I’ll be waiting for this battle of yours,” Lin Yun muttered to himself, his gaze fixed on the distance.
