Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 397: Chapter 214: Everyone Must Kneel Before Him! (First Update)

Edward Foster’s face turned livid, and he yelled, ”Lucas! Don’t hit someone’s face! Who hasn’t had a youthful and foolish phase? Though I’ve had many ex-girlfriends, they were all serious relationships, not kept or toyed with! Get it straight!”

Lucas Harlow chuckled, speaking slowly, ”If you were keeping or toying with them, you’d have been kicked out of my circle long ago.”

”Glad you know that!” Edward Foster glared at him, then turned away, reminiscing about his past ”glorious achievements,” and narcissistically touched his face, saying, ”Can’t help it, I’m just too good-looking. Since I was sixteen, girls have been chasing after me. You know how enthusiastic foreign white girls can be.”

Lucas Harlow snorted at him, ”The door’s over there, get out.”

Edward Foster knew that Lucas Harlow had agreed to his demand and wouldn’t undermine him anymore.

But just to be safe, he said, ”I’ll confess my past to Lawrence, but I don’t want her hearing about these things from others.”

Lucas Harlow didn’t even look at him, saying, ”As long as you don’t provoke me, I couldn’t care less about your nonsense, it’s beneath me.”

Edward Foster chuckled, leaving at ease.

He returned to his office and had just made himself a cup of cappuccino when the company’s Head of Talent Department, Zoe Johnson, knocked on the door.

”Mr. Foster, there’s something urgent I need to discuss with you.”

Edward Foster glanced at her, ”Have a seat, what is it?”

Zoe Johnson was a plump middle-aged woman, once a top agent at NewHuman Corporation. After a fallout with Lawrence Winters, although she lost, with Lawrence speaking on her behalf, Edward gave Lawrence face and appointed Zoe as the Head of Talent Department.

She indeed had a knack for promoting talents.

Sitting down in front of Edward Foster, Zoe Johnson spoke with a worried expression, ”Mr. Foster, our top talent, Arthur Johnson, is making a fuss about terminating his contract...”

Edward Foster was momentarily stunned, ”Arthur Johnson wants to terminate his contract? Is it because the company isn’t providing him enough resources, or are his awards not prestigious enough? Or does he feel he’s earning too much money?”

Zoe Johnson sighed, ”To be fair, Arthur Johnson is heavily promoted by the company, but...”

She discreetly glanced towards the office door, then got up to close it.

Edward Foster quickly exclaimed, ”Hey, what are you doing closing the door? Our company has an anti-harassment policy. Whenever a superior and a subordinate are speaking in an office, the door must be open! — Don’t create trouble for me!”

He glared at her, went over and reopened the door.

Zoe Johnson looked at Edward Foster in surprise, thinking for someone her age and figure, he was certainly flattering...

She jokingly said, ”Mr. Foster, are you worried that I’d ’harass’ you?”

She even fluttered her eyelashes flirtatiously.

Edward Foster: ...

Feeling quite offended!

But as the company president, he chose to turn a blind eye, sternly saying, ”It’s company policy. As the president, if I don’t follow it myself, how can I expect others to?”

Zoe Johnson quickly flattered, ”Right, right, right! With a president like you, Mr. Foster, who sets an example, our company can keep thriving!”

”Okay, enough, continue... about that person.” Edward Foster said, also glancing at the door, worried about being overheard.

Zoe Johnson got the message and didn’t mention Arthur Johnson’s name again, only lowering her voice to say, ”The main reason is that Lucas Harlow’s rise has been too rapid lately!”

”In just a few months, he’s rocketed from an unknown to almost a top-tier talent, and everyone knows how good Lucas’s acting is, so it’s natural for others to feel threatened.”

Edward Foster wondered, ”But even if Lucas Harlow gets famous, it doesn’t clash with others, does it? They don’t even have the same style. The resources meant for that person aren’t suitable for Lucas Harlow. Similarly, the market Lucas occupies doesn’t overlap with that person’s at all.”

”Logically, that’s the case,” Zoe Johnson said with a smile, ”But when it comes to those people, they don’t think like that.”

”In their eyes, the market is only so big, resources are limited, and the more others get, the less is left for them.”

Edward Foster nodded, ”Makes sense. Have you asked that person what his terms are? If he wants a raise, it’s not impossible. We can increase his profit share by another percentage point.”

”Alas, if money could solve it, I would have brought it to you,” Zoe Johnson sighed and shook her head, ”His condition is for us to terminate our contract with Lucas Harlow.”

Edward Foster’s eyes widened, leaning in slightly, ”What? Say that again?!”
