Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 373: Chapter 203: I’m a Born Genius (Second of Two Updates, 6K-word Chapter)

Francis Johnson, a man well-versed in the ways of the world, was momentarily bewildered by Lawrence Winters’ words, forgetting to speak for quite some time.

It wasn’t until she shrugged and said ”I don’t understand” that he snapped out of it, chuckling as he said, ”Just a joke. We believe in ’my fate is determined by me, not by heaven.’ All your Purple Star Divination System and Star Charts don’t work on me.”

Ian Lothrop, upon hearing this, immediately fixed his sharp gaze on Lawrence Winters, his face clearly displaying a ”defy him! defy him!” vibe, as if brewing a storm from calmness.

Unexpectedly, Lawrence Winters showed no desire to win or lose. She merely shrugged, ”That’s possible. I’m quite average in this area. I’m lucky if I have a thirty percent success rate predicting romance. I’m not as good as my uncle; he at least has a steady fifty percent success rate.”

Lawrence Winters extended a fair hand, showing a ”fifty percent” success rate.

Ian Lothrop was quite disappointed, muttering, ”...only fifty percent? Maybe I was wrong?”

He stood up from the sofa, walked to the long table, pressed a button, and the virtual screen reappeared in front of him.

Ian Lothrop repeatedly reviewed the route that the car took, then watched the process of that double-lobed lotus blooming and disappearing, frowning as he said, ”...I don’t believe it’s just a coincidence.”

Lawrence Winters curiously craned her neck to peek from behind Ian at the scene on the virtual screen, thinking to herself that she was truly impressive.

She laughed and said, ”Of course, it wasn’t a coincidence. My uncle taught me a mnemonic. Once you memorize it, you calculate the position based on actual circumstances, and then drive through at the appointed time.”

Ian Lothrop, Kenneth Osborne, and Francis Johnson all turned to look at her, their expressions being quite indescribable.

Lawrence Winters awkwardly retracted her neck, saying, ”What’s wrong? Don’t look at me like that. I’m timid and can’t handle a fright...”

Then she pretended to pat her chest, putting on a ”I’m so scared” look.

Ian Lothrop looked at her thoughtfully and said, ”...memorize the mnemonic? Then calculate the position based on the actual circumstances, and drive through at the appointed time?—Little girl who can tell fortunes, did you also calculate this position?”

He felt a bit thirsty as he spoke and took a bottle of mineral water from the table to drink.

”Yes, calculated according to the mnemonic,” Lawrence Winters said naturally. ”It’s not particularly difficult. It sure was tough at first, but my uncle and I... use it quite often.”

She had intended to say they were frequently followed, but suddenly remembered Francis Johnson’s identity and swallowed her words.

Unexpectedly, Francis Johnson perceptively noticed her unsaid words, smiling as he said, ”...You and your uncle are often followed? Tsk tsk, are you really just doing feng shui and not anything illegal or against the law?”

”No no!” Lawrence Winters stood up in fright, hurriedly waving her hands in denial, ”Really not! It’s just that my uncle and I are so exceptionally brilliant and talented! We’re like cranes among the chicken crowd of geomancer masters who only have primary school education, so it’s inevitable we’d be targeted for collaborative elimination by the chicken crowd...”

Pfft—!

Ian Lothrop couldn’t help but laugh, spewing the water he was drinking onto the virtual screen.

The double-lobed lotuses on the screen became more vividly splendid and dazzling under the moisture of the water.

Lawrence Winters, at this moment, was particularly well-behaved, standing with her hands against her pant seams like a student in detention, continuing, ”So, when running for my life, numerous survival instincts were unleashed, and I learned this mnemonic through these repeated ’near-death experiences.’

Kenneth Osborne hadn’t expected that Lawrence Winters had experienced so much while following Nick Zeller around for feng shui.

His heart ached as well as he felt puzzled, and he couldn’t help asking, ”...Nora, is this true? Is there no more justice?”

”It’s not about justice,” Lawrence Winters sighed. ”The law even states a life for a life. Do you see it stopping murderers from appearing?”

”Besides, there are always people who are envious of talent, especially since my uncle and I are so good at what we do, affecting other people’s livelihood. You see, as the saying goes, cutting off someone’s way of making a living is like killing their parents. When we take their living, of course, they fight back.”

Kenneth Osborne silently looked at her, thinking he really needed to earn a lot of money so Lawrence Winters wouldn’t have to go out for feng shui anymore...

He didn’t realise this line of work was so dangerous, and thought it might be better if her ”family business” was shut down.

Kenneth Osborne made up his mind but said nothing, only moved to stand a bit closer to her.

Francis Johnson didn’t add anything, simply glanced at Ian Lothrop.

Ian Lothrop didn’t seem to be concerned with the conversation between Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne; he pondered for a while, then couldn’t help but ask, ”Lawrence, this flawlessly perfect so-called ’Nine Palace Lotus Formation,’ can it really be learned just with a mnemonic?”
