Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 367: Chapter 200: A Lifetime of Smooth Sailing (First Update)

Lawrence Winters didn’t expect Madwoman’s mother to react this way and thought no wonder Madwoman planned to ”act first and ask later.”

Facing Madwoman’s mother’s skepticism, Lawrence didn’t lose his temper, smiled, and said, ”Auntie, don’t worry, we’ve thought about these things for her, so we plan to set up a fifty million trust fund. Do you think that’s enough?”

Madwoman’s mother was momentarily stunned.

Her suspicious gaze flitted between Kenneth Osborne and Lawrence Winters, a bit incredulous, ”...Fifty million?! Did I hear wrong? You’re all just graduated, where did you get so much money? Let me tell you, if it’s illegal income, we won’t take it!”

Lawrence thought to himself, she knows ”A gentleman loves money, and takes it properly,” still somewhat salvageable.

She explained with a smile, ”Of course, it’s legal income.”

Kenneth Osborne nodded, just about to speak.

But Lawrence Winters tugged at Kenneth’s sleeve, gave him a look, stopped him, and said with a smile, ”He invested in a company, it was recently sold, and he received a dividend, so he gave half to Joyce Shaw.”

Kenneth Osborne had actually received a billion, but Lawrence didn’t plan to be too honest, so vaguely said it was half for Joyce Shaw, thus avoiding further thoughts from the others.

Madwoman’s mother was very surprised, ”Aren’t you just graduated like Joyce Shaw? How did you invest? Is your family very wealthy?”

Probably only the rich second generation have such capital and can spend like this...

Lawrence quickly caught onto Madwoman’s mother’s idea and said, ”It’s okay, not particularly wealthy, but my family gave some resources, so we invested.”

Kenneth Osborne nearly said ”a billion” earlier, but when Lawrence tugged at his sleeve and interjected, he understood.

To avoid future trouble, it’s best not to explain everything in detail.

Besides, he’s doing this for Joyce Shaw’s sake, Madwoman’s mother is a stranger to him.

There’s no need to tell everything to strangers.

Kenneth Osborne smiled without speaking, standing leisurely aside, really looking like a wealthy young gentleman.

Madwoman’s mother now relaxed, as long as it’s not ill-gotten gains, her daughter can take it.

Thinking this, her eyes reddened, saying, ”For you to consider so much for Joyce and his child as classmates, indeed isn’t easy. To give fifty million, this kind of favor is something a regular working family can’t repay in a lifetime.”

”But despite this, I still hope Little Mandarin Duck can let go of Joyce’s hurdle...give up the child... really, raising a child isn’t just about having money. It’s a lifetime of commitment.”

”If Joyce were still here, I definitely wouldn’t stop them, I’d even rush them to get married early, and I’d retire and help take care of the child.”

”But Joyce isn’t here; how will my girl manage with a child? Can she still find a good man?”

Madwoman’s mother rambled, tears streaming down.

Lawrence Winters listened and felt some sympathy for Madwoman’s mother, just about to speak when she glimpsed Madwoman helping Joyce’s grandma over, hurriedly interrupting the mother and said, ”Auntie, I understand your concerns. For now, let’s just focus on letting Madwoman have the baby.”

”Joyce Shaw is a martyr; the state won’t ignore this child. Even if Madwoman wants to remarry in the future, this child will absolutely not be a burden.”

Lawrence glanced at Kenneth, feeling the urge to say something.

Kenneth Osborne heard what she said earlier and understood what she wanted to say next, giving her a slight nod.

Lawrence Winters, encouraged, smiled even sweeter, and said, ”Auntie, if Madwoman finds it inconvenient to remarry with the child, Kenneth and I can adopt this child. The child will definitely have the last name Shaw; we won’t change it.”

Kenneth Osborne then said, ”Joyce Shaw was my good friend, and both Nora and I know him well. This child growing up with us would be just like growing up with Madwoman and Joyce Shaw themselves.”

Madwoman and Joyce’s grandma came over, both stunned by what they heard.

”What?! Why would you want to adopt our child?” Madwoman thought she heard wrong, ”Did I say I want to give away the child?”

Lawrence quickly gave her a look.

Madwoman opened her mouth but ultimately changed the topic, saying, ”Grandma is here too. Do you want to say anything?”

Lawrence then repeated the part about setting up a trust fund, and added, ”This is Kenneth’s first investment yield, offering half, that’s fifty million to set up a trust fund for this child, so you won’t have to worry about raising expenses. In the future, when the child grows up, this trust fund will be his own.”
