Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 395: Chapter 213: If You Like Her, Stay Away from Her

”Lawrence, didn’t we agree to have lunch together? How come you came alone without calling me?” Edward Foster walked over, pretending not to see Lucas Harlow, and slightly bent over with a smile, speaking to Lawrence Winters.

Lawrence Winters put his hand down, his lips twitching slightly, and said with a smile, ”Mr. Foster, didn’t you say over the phone that you forgot? Since you forgot, it means it’s not important. You’re so busy; how could I waste your time?”

Lawrence Winters used ”you” in a very polite yet distant way.

Edward Foster felt uncomfortable hearing this, but with Lucas Harlow watching, he couldn’t lose face.

He reluctantly coughed, turned to sit at their table, and pretended he had just seen Lucas Harlow, laughing, ”So you were having a meal with Lucas! I understand, it’s a working lunch. You’re Lucas’s agent, it’s only proper! Completely proper!”

As if her lunch with Lucas Harlow was entirely work-related.

Although this reason was reasonable, Lucas Harlow found it quite awkward.

He looked at Edward Foster with indifference and said lightly, ”Mr. Foster, you seem quite free lately. Not having meetings with celebrity women to discuss work?”

”When have I ever scheduled meetings with celebrity women to discuss work?!” Edward Foster denied flatly.

”Hmm, if meetings with celebrity women aren’t for business, then it’s for personal matters. Understood.” Lucas Harlow said, keeping his head down while serving a bowl of soup to Lawrence Winters, ”This is their specialty creamy white carp soup, a homemade dish. It’s rare to have such fresh ingredients, and the chef’s skills have nearly returned to the basics. I think it’s the most worthwhile dish here.”

Lawrence Winters picked up the spoon, tasted the soup carefully, and after a while, she exclaimed, ”This fish is really fresh!”

”Just pulled out from the water, they keep black fish to maintain the activity of the carp group, not thawed fish,” Edward Foster introduced, unwilling to be outdone, ”I was the one who first brought Lucas here to eat this dish.”

”Mr. Foster has good taste and a keen palate.” Lawrence Winters said with a smile, without favoring anyone.

Edward Foster finally felt a bit better.

Lucas Harlow looked at Edward Foster and said, ”These four dishes are for the two of us. If you want to eat, you need to order two more dishes.”

”I’ll order then,” Edward Foster raised his hand to call a waiter over and said, ”Bring me a beef platter. I’m a bit hungry today, so I need to eat more.”

The beef here is really fatty, almost entirely composed of fat, with a texture that melts in the mouth, giving a taste reminiscent of foie gras.

Lawrence Winters dared not try such a high-calorie food. Eating a bite means running on the treadmill for an extra half hour.

But Edward Foster ate it with great enjoyment.

Lawrence Winters looked at him with a touch of sympathy, as if she saw a man more beautiful than women finally becoming a fat person...

This is truly a human tragedy.

Edward Foster finished a bite and looked up contentedly, just in time to meet Lawrence Winters’ gaze.

Her expression was gentle with a trace of faint sympathy, lacking any particular facial expression, yet that soft gaze lightly swept over, giving him a feeling of floating and ecstatic, absolutely irresistible!

Edward Foster dazedly paused before Lawrence Winters moved on with the conversation, continuing to speak with Lucas Harlow.

”Lucas, have you considered acting in a TV series?”

Edward Foster snapped back to attention and quickly said, ”Our Lucas has only acted in films since debut, which is a well-known fact in the industry.”

”Only films? And he’s done just a few...” Lawrence Winters pursed her lips, somewhat unimpressed.

Edward Foster laughed and said, ”Initially, he wasn’t well-known, but his acting skills are top-notch, and he doesn’t charge much, so directors in the industry like to use him.”

”And he’s fine with making one movie a year, neither fighting nor competing. In the industry, although he’s not familiar with many people, no one deliberately blacklists or steps on him, so he has particularly good popular appeal. Isn’t that why you’re fond of him, Lawrence?”

Lawrence Winters smiled and looked at Lucas Harlow, saying, ”But now our Lucas is getting famous, and I can happily see that people disliking him are growing increasingly plentiful!”

”... What’s there to be happy about?” Edward Foster shook his head.

”Only famous people get more controversies.” Lawrence Winters playfully tilted her head, appraising Lucas Harlow, ”Mr. Foster, haven’t you noticed? Fame nurtures someone... Our Lucas is even more handsome now!”

”I don’t see it...” Edward Foster glanced at Lucas Harlow’s face, ”All I see are dark circles!”
