Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 338: Chapter 185: The Grand Competition现场 (First Update)

Edward Foster: ”...”

Lucas Harlow: ”...”

They both thought they finally understood where Lawrence Winters got his talent for ”lying with his eyes wide open, not fearing the wind.”

It’s family tradition, family tradition...

However, they were both worldly-wise and cooperated wholeheartedly with the performance.

Edward Foster shook Nick Zeller’s hand and said sincerely, ”Uncle, I understand. I’ll be sure to look after Lawrence from now on. She’s diligent, responsible, hardworking, progressive, unites her colleagues, and is invaluable in supporting her superiors. She’s truly an outstanding employee.”

Nick Zeller’s eye twitched.

Was he talking about his niece, Lawrence Winters?

If you didn’t know better, you’d think he was talking about one of the nation’s top ten youth...

Even those old-fashioned lines about building the four modernizations could be used here.

Kenneth Osborne stood with his hands behind his back, frowning and silent, showing a bit of disdain for Edward Foster’s opportunism.

Lucas Harlow maintained a refined, scholarly smile and shook Nick Zeller’s hand, saying lightly, ”Miss Winters is intelligent, vivacious, and full of cunning. My career in the entertainment industry owes much to her.”

Edward Foster rolled his eyes dramatically, thinking if you wanted to be famous, you’d have been renowned ages ago, and might even have an Oscar by now. Are you not ashamed to say this?

Do you want me to list out all the troubles that Lawrence’s big fan club has caused you?

As if he heard Edward Foster’s thoughts, Lucas Harlow glanced at him sideways, unperturbed.

Edward Foster could only swallow back all his complaints.

Nick Zeller was almost bursting with joy. He felt proud and delighted with his niece, thinking she at least had three men ”under her thumb,” truly worthy of being the fine young woman he personally taught!

Feeling smug, he glanced back at Kenneth Osborne in a show of defiance.

Kenneth Osborne wore a faint smile, stood straight, and slightly to the side, presenting his best angle to Edward Foster and Lucas Harlow.

He didn’t say anything, but his posture exuded confidence.

Although Lawrence Winters’ large living room was quite spacious, it was filled with tension at this moment.

Nick Zeller seemed oblivious to the undercurrents between the three, smiling as he said, ”Please, have a seat. Would you like something to drink? We have tea, coffee, juice, and water.”

Lucas Harlow said, ”A glass of water, please. Thank you.”

Edward Foster followed, ”Coffee, if it’s not too much trouble.”

”Alright, it’ll be right up.” Nick Zeller happily walked to the kitchen, conveying everything that had happened outside to Gabrielle Winters with gestures and laughter, almost doubling over from amusement.

Since they were far from the living room, Nick Zeller wasn’t worried the guests would overhear him.

In fact, once Edward Foster and Lucas Harlow sat down, the old Daoist began analyzing their facial features.

Edward Foster sat down first, choosing a spot relatively close to the old Daoist.

So, the old Daoist began with Edward Foster.

After a moment’s observation, the old Daoist couldn’t help but let out a slight exclamation.

He asked, ”Are you the supervisor of my junior disciple? How old are you this year?”

Being asked your age when visiting a girl’s house was a good sign!

Edward Foster laughed even more happily and respectfully said, ”Hello, old Daoist. I just turned twenty-three.”

”Oh? And your birthday?” The old Daoist asked again. Seeing Edward Foster’s surprised expression, the old Daoist added, ”I noticed you have a full forehead and a bright glabella, indicating good fortune, so I couldn’t help but want to verify.”

”Is that so...” Edward Foster smiled, nodded, and revealed his birthday.

Kenneth Osborne was slightly taken aback, realizing Edward Foster was actually three months younger than him.

Yet Edward Foster was already the CEO of a large integrated entertainment company and the heir to the fifth-ranked on the national rich list, the Foster Consortium.

It’s truly infuriating to compare oneself to others.

Though he sighed inwardly, Kenneth Osborne didn’t feel discouraged or inferior.

The old Daoist didn’t ask detailed questions about Edward Foster’s birth time; instead, he roughly calculated using his birthday, exclaiming as he slapped his thigh, ”What a good Ba Zi! I’ve never seen such a good Ba Zi in all my years of fortune-telling!”

Kenneth Osborne couldn’t resist, saying lightly, ”He’s the only son of the chairman of the Foster Consortium. If his Ba Zi wasn’t good, there probably wouldn’t be many good ones in the country.”

The old Daoist, rather than feeling offended by the retort, was even more delighted, saying, ”Oh my! You’re the heir to the Foster Consortium?! Hahaha! I knew my face-reading and Ba Zi skills were unmatched! - I say your Ba Zi is good, so it must be!”

Nick Zeller came over with coffee and water while the old Daoist excitedly declared to him, ”Disciple, look at what I just deduced! I saw at a glance that young master’s aura is extraordinary! Then, matched with the Ba Zi, it’s just unbelievably good! And guess what happened?! He’s actually the heir to the Foster Consortium! - You know the Foster Consortium?!”

Nick Zeller rolled his eyes and said irritably, ”Who doesn’t know? Lawrence must have mentioned it at home, hasn’t she?”

”When did she say that? I didn’t hear!” The old Daoist huffed, ”Unfilial disciple! I’ll use a mantra to deal with you later!”

”Master, you’re not Tang Monk, and I’m not Monkey, so save your energy.” Nick Zeller said, taking a seat on the sofa beside Lucas Harlow and handing him a bottle of unopened mineral water.

Lucas Harlow accepted the bottle, took a sip after opening it, and then set it down on the coffee table in front of him, smiling and nodding, ”Thank you.”

Nick Zeller gave him a look and was slightly surprised.

There were subtle signs on Lucas Harlow’s face suggesting alteration by a skilled hand.

It wasn’t plastic surgery or makeup, but subtle adjustments to parts of his face, like a discreet mole at the corner of his eye or a drawn line among the brows.

Such modifications wouldn’t affect his fate but could alter facial readings.

Which meant, if someone was skilled at face-reading, this alteration could mislead them into drawing incorrect conclusions.
