Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 311: Chapter 173: The Hidden Side Unknown to All

Boom!

Her car crashed hard into the left guardrail.

The airbags deployed with a whoosh, hitting her in the face.

She was hit so hard she was disoriented, and because the speed was too fast, the impact didn’t ease. The car was light, and instantly, through inertia, it flipped over the guardrail and landed in the opposite lane.

An oncoming truck in the opposite lane couldn’t brake in time and rolled over her car.

Mary Palmer suddenly saw the sky go dark above her, a massive weight fell from the sky, she let out her last breath, and closed her eyes forever.

Joseph Saunders saw Mary Palmer in trouble and became even more aggressive, slamming the gas pedal, recklessly closing in on Joyce Shaw’s Hummer SUV ahead.

But his car was larger, although the engines were similar, it didn’t accelerate as quickly as Mary Palmer’s car, always a bit behind.

By this time, cars in the adjacent lane had slowed down, and some on their side also realized this was no ordinary chase, and called the police one after another.

Joyce Shaw saw Mary Palmer’s car flipping in the rearview mirror and became even more tense.

Sweat poured more profusely from his forehead, dripping down from his eyebrows and blurring his vision.

He started to feel dizzy again; it seemed the blood he had just lost had clotted.

Joyce Shaw wiped his face with the back of his hand, reopening a slit on the cut on his wrist.

Blood flowed out, and he gradually regained clarity. He quickly adjusted the navigation and drove forward again.

...

Kenneth Osborne wasn’t idle either; he quickly called Francis Johnson, but Francis was mysteriously out of service.

He had no choice but to call the police as well. Fortunately, the police operator told him they had already dispatched officers to handle it.

Still feeling uneasy, he started calling Joyce Shaw.

Joyce Shaw, whether unable to free his hands or encountering some issue, wasn’t answering his call.

Only location sharing allowed him to see Joyce’s route.

Kenneth Osborne immediately shared Joyce Shaw’s route with Francis Johnson.

Just as he was feeling anxious, Joyce Shaw finally called him back.

”Joyce! How are you? I’m coming to get you now!” Kenneth Osborne said as he grabbed his car keys and headed downstairs.

Joyce Shaw’s voice was ethereal and distant, he spoke intermittently, ”I’m sending you something to your email, if I don’t make it, make sure you give it to the police...”

Kenneth Osborne’s heart tightened, he forced himself to stay calm and said in a deep voice, ”Don’t think too much, focus on driving. I’m coming to find you now. You must hold on!”

”Okay, I’ll try my best,” Joyce Shaw said, and hung up the call.

Meanwhile, Joseph Saunders’ car was getting closer. Joyce, being distracted by the call, was carelessly caught up.

He immediately slammed the gas pedal, but it was still a bit late.

A high-speed chase is a matter of seconds.

Joseph Saunders drove his car straight into him!

Joyce Shaw’s hands grew increasingly sore, and his strength was gradually drained. Even though he didn’t lose consciousness again, his physical strength was already exhausted.

Boom!

Joseph Saunders finally rammed into him from behind.

The impact was so great that Joyce was thrown forward uncontrollably, the steering wheel smashing into his chest, almost breaking his ribs.

Seeing the car in front starting to slow down, Joseph Saunders immediately drove forward and rammed it again.

Once, twice, three times!

Until Joyce Shaw’s car was rammed against the guardrail, almost turned into a heap of scrap metal.

If it weren’t for the sturdiness of the Hummer’s frame, Joyce’s car would have been crumpled like an accordion’s bellows under Joseph’s relentless battering.

The cars on the highway almost came to a halt, seeing a car frantically ramming the SUV in front, everyone realized something was wrong. Not only did they call the police, but some even drove forward to try stopping this atrocious act.

Joseph Saunders still wanted to continue rolling over when suddenly a warning came through his Bluetooth earpiece: ”The police cars are here! Get out now!”

He immediately turned the steering wheel, drove past Joyce’s car, and sped away like a flash.

A highway exit was not far away; he drove down without a glance.

Reaching a wooded area nearby, he drove straight in, abandoned the car, removed his disguise while walking down a path.

This trail had no surveillance, and by the time the police found his car, they wouldn’t be able to find him.

They had studied this route for a long time, and it was virtually foolproof.

...

Francis Johnson happened to go to a meeting with Christopher Mason and Richard Shadow today.

Such meetings made it impossible to bring any phones or electronic devices.

Coming out of the conference room, after retrieving his phone, he first saw Joyce Shaw’s SOS text, and then Kenneth Osborne’s urgent messages.

Francis Johnson immediately called back, but Joyce wasn’t answering, he instantly felt something was wrong.

He put on his jacket while dialing Kenneth Osborne’s number on his Bluetooth headset.

Kenneth Osborne was already in his car, anxiously saying, ”Mr. Johnson, this matter is quite complicated, and it’s said to be related to the blackout at the State Grid the other day. I can’t explain clearly now. Please, save Joyce! He said there’s something important that needs reporting to the police!”

”I’ve shared Joyce’s location with you. His car seems to have stopped now. I saw on the news that stretch of the highway is closed, and I can’t get on it!”

Francis Johnson read the few words Joyce sent him, his heart tightened, he quickly started the car, saying succinctly, ”Stay in touch, leave it to me.”

He promptly got in the car, simultaneously sending some messages to his subordinates to have police cars follow up.

Francis Johnson drove onto the highway at the fastest speed, even displaying a special pass on his car dashboard.

This way, he was unimpeded on the road, almost arriving at the scene along with the local police.

The entire highway was blocked, surrounded by police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks.

On the other side of the highway, a few cars had also collided.

Via his Bluetooth headset, Francis Johnson spoke with Kenneth Osborne, calmly asking, ”Is Joyce’s car a Hummer SUV? License plate number XXXXXX?”

Kenneth Osborne hurriedly nodded, anxious, ”I know he bought a new car, it’s a Hummer SUV, but I don’t know the license plate number.”
