Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 316: Chapter 176: Leave Professional Matters to the Professionals (First Update)

Francis Johnson’s seemingly effortless smile concealed a hidden ruthlessness.

Kenneth Osborne silently watched him, pursing his lips, and said, ”...Is there anything I can help with?”

Francis Johnson glanced at him in surprise and shook his head, saying, ”No, don’t get involved, we can handle this ourselves.”

”Joyce is my good friend, and his position was originally mine...” Kenneth Osborne said with great remorse, ”I think you know that.”

Francis Johnson came to his senses, thought for a moment, and said with a faint smile, ”It seems Lawrence Winters is indeed lucky. You gave up what seemed like a great job opportunity for her and ended up avoiding a disaster.”

”If it were me, perhaps...” Kenneth Osborne couldn’t help but say, ”I’m more vigilant than Joyce. Would the outcome be different?”

”No, fundamentally, you and Joyce are no different. Once targeted by those people, there’s truly only one path - death. So don’t interfere, leave professional matters to professionals, and we are just the right experts in this field.”

Francis Johnson said meaningfully, as if revealing the bottom line to Kenneth Osborne.

Kenneth Osborne felt a bit excited, but only for a moment, then calmed down and said quietly, ”I only know your expertise is in investment, you’re the CEO of SSA Private Equity Fund. If I want to help, it will only be through legitimate channels.”

After a pause, he added, ”...And as you said, I also work in the AI field, and because I hold patents, the danger is less than Joyce’s. Given that, do you think I can remain completely uninvolved?”

Francis Johnson raised his eyebrows, gave Kenneth Osborne a once-over, and smiled, ”You make valid points. They all know Joyce’s connection to you, if you do nothing, it’s too detached, not only appearing cold but also in the eyes of professionals over there, it’s almost like ’the scene where no silver is found’. – Alright, I’ll give you a chance to get involved, but only through legitimate channels.”

Kenneth Osborne nodded calmly and said softly, ”Thank you for giving me this opportunity, I just don’t want Joyce’s life to be lost in vain.”

Francis Johnson nodded and waved to him, ”Sit next to me, I’ll show you something.”

Kenneth Osborne got up and walked behind Francis Johnson, looking at his computer.

”Look, these companies are the AI companies that Victory Wise Corporation under Spencer Group wants to acquire.” Francis Johnson forwarded the names of these companies to Kenneth Osborne, ”You research them, see how you can impede them and cause trouble.”

Kenneth Osborne squinted at those companies, and found a familiar company name.

On the last day of his life, Joyce was still working on ’restoring’ the visual video of this company’s robot...

”Alright, I understand.” Kenneth Osborne nodded slightly, then discussed some details with Francis Johnson before leaving his company.

He drove along the streets of Capital City, feeling very downhearted, but there was much to do, he couldn’t afford to brood.

Kenneth Osborne drove back to his company, and the first thing he did was to share the news of Joyce’s passing in the university group.

[Kenneth Osborne]: Obituary: Our classmate Joyce Shaw passed away in a severe car accident at X:X am today. Seven days later, a memorial service will be held at the Shan Zhou Funeral Home. Please contact Blake Leaf if you wish to attend.

Then he posted Blake Leaf’s phone number in the group.

After sending the message, he said to Blake Leaf, ”Blake, Joyce just passed away in a car accident.”

Blake Leaf was just wrestling with a bug in the program, and couldn’t react for a moment upon hearing this.

He looked up, dumbfounded at Kenneth Osborne, until a sudden phone ring startled him awake.

He picked up the phone and swiped to answer, hearing the person on the other side asking, ”Are you Blake Leaf? Are you the contact for Joyce’s memorial service?”

Blake Leaf jumped as if stung by a bee, ”What?! What did you say?! Joyce passed away?!”

Only then did he connect Kenneth Osborne’s earlier words to this phone call, sharply raising his head to ask Kenneth Osborne in front of him, ”...Joyce really...?”

Kenneth Osborne nodded, his expression calm and solemn, ”Yes, I was just about to tell you, in seven days I will hold a memorial service and funeral for Joyce at Shan Zhou Funeral Home, and I’ve asked those who wish to attend to contact you. You tally up the numbers, see if the funeral home’s middle hall is enough, if not, book the main hall.”

Blake Leaf’s tears immediately welled up, as he scrambled to grab tissues from the box on his desk, wiping them awkwardly, he began to tally the numbers.
