Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Back in the office, the three of them went to have lunch together.

After Huo Jinnan ordered the dishes, he passed the menu to Shen Mubai, ”When do you get out?”

Shen Mubai pushed up his glasses and said, ”I should be almost ready to leave when I get back, but I’m worried about prying eyes in the hospital. You and sister-in-law go back first; wait for me to get back to the hospital and use Youzi’s email to send the picture of the test report to Brother Huo.”

”Mm.”

Huo Jinnan saw the red wine served and poured a glass for Shen Mubai.

...

At half past one in the afternoon, back at the hospital, Shen Mubai checked the ward once and arrived at VIP ward 17, ”Are the test results out yet?”

The family member said, ”They should be.”

Shen Mubai picked up the slip of paper in front of the hospital bed and took a glance, ”Go get it, I’ll have a look.”

The family member quickly went and returned in less than ten minutes, passing the slip to Shen Mubai.

Shen Mubai looked at it and pushed his glasses up, ”She should not be pregnant.”

Just as the family member was about to speak, Shen Mubai’s phone rang.

He looked at it and his gaze fell on the family member, ”Let me take a call first, please wait.”

Shen Mubai saw the alarm reminder on the screen, swiped it, opened the camera, saw that the flash was turned off, quickly took a photo of the test report, put the phone to his ear, and paused, ”Alright, I understand.”

After finishing the ”call,” he handed the report back to the patient’s family member, ”The hCG levels are not ideal, we’ll draw blood and do another check the day after tomorrow.”

After leaving the ward, he returned to the office, called Shen You to get the email and password, added the photo as an attachment, looked it over, his fair fingers resting on the laptop keyboard, wrote down some precautionary notes, and sent them to Huo Jinnan.

Huo Jinnan had just walked in the door when he received the email notification, glanced at it, and his gaze landed on Che Huan, ”Isn’t this a positive result?”

Che Huan leaned in to look.

Huo Jinnan unlocked his phone and handed it to Che Huan.

Che Huan downloaded the attachment, opened the picture inside, and couldn’t help but recall the feelings she had the first time she received the report—completely different emotions of panic and fear, her first reaction was to go to the hospital and terminate the pregnancy!

Huo Jinnan looked down at her, ”What, you don’t want it?”

Che Huan steadied her emotions, looked up at Huo Jinnan, ”If you don’t want it, I do.”

Huo Jinnan grasped her chin, tilting it towards himself, ”You do?”

Che Huan bit her lip and nodded.

Huo Jinnan glanced around, ”Uncle Lu and Aunt Rong are here, and besides, you’re pregnant right now, it’s not convenient, just hold on.”

”...”

Che Huan took a deep breath and looked at Huo Jinnan.

Huo Jinnan had already let go, put on his slippers, and walked towards the stairway.

Che Huan looked over at Uncle Lu and Aunt Rong.

Aunt Rong was focused on wiping the table, as if she had heard nothing, and Uncle Lu had already walked towards his room, appearing even less aware of anything.

...

At dinner time, Huo Jinnan came down from the study and looked at Che Huan.

Che Huan ignored him, turning away to look at the little guy.

The little guy remembered the phone call Huo Jinnan made before school ended and glanced at Che Huan’s stomach, which was flat and didn’t look like that of someone with a baby at all.

He then looked back at Huo Jinnan, ”Is little sister really coming?”

”Mm.”

Huo Jinnan acknowledged and turned to Aunt Rong, ”From now on, pay more attention to madam’s diet.”

Zhong Qin also listened happily, ”Huanhuan, I’ll give them a heads-up on that side, shall we talk about school after you’ve had the baby?”

Che Huan thought of the recent contract and several car accidents, nodded, ”Mom, I’ll listen to you.”

Huo Jinnan sat aside, his eyebrows furrowing slightly, his voice chilling, ”Let’s keep Huanhuan’s pregnancy within Nanyuan Villa.”
