Daddy Always Gets Jealous

He understood Qin Shaojin’s meaning, unpleasant memories could easily be erased with hypnosis, but forcibly wiping part of a person’s memory was not easy to achieve.

Looking at Qin Shaojin, he flicked the ash from his cigarette, ”Back in the military, a comrade from the Warhawk Team fell into the hands of foreign spies and was hypnotized, exposing some of our important information. Afterwards, I specifically studied psychology for a while, and I found that such a situation is difficult to achieve.

First, it requires a very strong hypnotist.

Second, the depth of the hypnosis and the subject’s ability to comprehend.

Third, Huo Jinyun doesn’t know anyone in this field.”

Qin Shaojin looked at Huo Jinnan, thinking that the military is usually full of capable people, ”Could it be that your old man knows someone?”

Huo Jinnan shook his head, ”I know him, he would only help clean up messes, but he wouldn’t go so far as to do such a thing.”

Qin Shaojin tossed his cigarette butt away, sitting there deep in thought.

Huo Jinnan looked at him, ”After deep hypnosis, make him recall that traumatic event, imagine what it was like before the event occurred, and then imagine what it was like after the event. It’s like finding the corresponding frames before and after on a tape, and having him cut out the bad frames in the middle with scissors, then splice the good frames before and after back together, and play it from beginning to end, making his memory skip over them. Until he can no longer see those frames. Do you think it’s possible?”

Qin Shaojin was silent, indeed it was not easy to achieve, and someone with that ability wouldn’t help Huo Jinyun erase a woman from a man’s memory—too demeaning!

Huo Jinnan looked at Qin Shaojin, ”The unpleasant memories typically referred to by hypnosis are those of acute traumatic events; the shorter the event, the better, not a prolonged stimulus over an indefinite period. The key lies in the depth of the hypnosis and the subject’s comprehension. Hypnosis sessions must be at least three times, with no more than three days between them, until the subject completely erases the memory. I had Huo Bei look into it, and your uncle couldn’t have been involved in such matters after the 20th.”

Qin Shaojin looked at Huo Jinnan, ”So, it was still that day, the 20th.”

Huo Jinnan watched the smoke curling around his fingers, and spoke softly, ”Yeah, Huo Jinyun went out that day. Although I was young at the time, I remember clearly how good her mood was when she got back. She was so happy she gave me a hundred-dollar bill, the largest sum of money I’d ever seen until I was ten, so I remember it very well.”

Qin Shaojin couldn’t help but laugh, ”You remember something from twenty-three years ago so clearly.”

Huo Jinnan looked at Qin Shaojin.

Qin Shaojin, pinching the cigarette butt between his fingers, joked, ”Should I sign you up for that ’Super Brain’ show—”

Huo Jinnan didn’t pick up on Qin Shaojin’s banter, his voice turned colder by a few degrees, ”Back then Hong Kong didn’t have electronic surveillance, nor car navigation systems, otherwise, we could’ve checked where your uncle went.”

Qin Shaojin smiled, ”Brother Huo, back then my uncle was still a graduate student, not as flamboyant at university as Miss Huo who had a chauffeured car when she went out. I asked him, he only rode an old bike.”

Huo Jinnan looked at Qin Shaojin; he hadn’t thought of that before—it meant it was even harder to trace where Qin Moting had been or what he had done, ”So that’s why you went to Law University?”

”Yes.”

Qin Shaojin licked his lips and threw away his cigarette butt, ”My grandfather said, actually, the night before the Wen Family’s incident, your aunt’s mother had already died. It wasn’t as we found, suicide out of guilt. The cause was a car accident, and the driver fled the scene.”
