Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Mother Rong looked at Che Huan. Why did the madam suddenly ask so many questions today?

She remembered the master saying that the madam was the mistress of the house, so she spoke carefully, ”When it comes to Huo Bei, Uncle Lu and I had joined him alongside master. I heard that even when the master was in the military, he was with the master. I am not sure how long exactly he has been with master.”

Che Huan smiled amicably, ”How does the master usually treat you all?”

At this, Mother Rong’s face broke into a smile, ”Although master seems a bit cold, he is really good to us. He takes care of us whenever something happens at home.”

Che Huan looked around. According to her intuition, Mother Rong shouldn’t have any problems. Could it really be Jinxue?

After thinking for a while, she turned to Mother Rong, ”It’s also thanks to you all. When master is not around, it’s you who take care of Xiaowei.”

”That’s what we are supposed to do.”

Mother Rong pinched the cloth in her hand and, remembering her previous misunderstanding of the madam, now saw how amiable the madam had become, felt somewhat embarrassed. She smiled at Che Huan, ”The young master is also quite nice. He never throws temper tantrums at us.”

Thinking of the little one, warmth filled Che Huan’s heart. In fact, she was truly grateful to Mother Rong. In those four years of her absence, Mother Rong had spent more time taking care of the little one than Huo Jinnan, right?

Sitting there, she listened to Mother Rong talk about some things from the little one’s childhood—

”When the young master was brought over, he was so fair and handsome...”

”The young master had jaundice when he was just a few days old. He was sent to the hospital and stayed for over a week. Master visited every day, couldn’t see the child, only got updates about the situation from the doctor...”

”When the young master was a month old, his head was so big, having grown by seven centimeters. Back then, master did not dare to hold him. I remember clearly, the day after he turned one month, master was holding the young master while I changed his diaper, and the young master ended up peeing all over master’s face.”

Hearing this, Che Huan could not hold back her laughter. As she laughed, tears inevitably fell.

Seeing this, Mother Rong thought hard, and recounted more of the young master’s amusing childhood stories, ”The young master was so funny back then, had such a personality. He would straighten his legs up high when doing his business, pursing his lips and straining.”

Che Huan imagined the little one’s antics, her heart aching yet sweet.

Mother Rong went upstairs and brought down an album of the young master’s photos, ”Look, all these pictures were taken by the master. At first, he took one every day, then once a month, and later it became once a year.”

Che Huan bit her lip and remained silent, flipping page by page, watching the little one grow bit by bit. From the time he started to smile, to lifting his head, teething, crawling, learning to walk...

Her heart ached, suddenly envious of Huo Jinnan, suddenly wanting another child, to be with him, slowly watching the child grow!

After a while, she wiped away her tears and looked at Mother Rong.

When Mother Rong talked about Xiaowei, her voice was filled with warmth, obviously having cared for him from a young age and developed a bond.

Che Huan squeezed Mother Rong’s hand, ”Thank you for taking care of him for me all these years.”

Mother Rong smiled, ”The young master is quite good to me, don’t mind his cold expression. Once, when I accidentally cut my finger while chopping vegetables, the young master helped me put on a Band-Aid. Of course, he was scolding me for being clumsy while doing it.”

...

The cellphone rang, and Che Huan looked towards Mother Rong, ending their conversation.

Hearing Wen Nuan’s voice not quite right, Che Huan frowned, ”Nuannuan, what’s the matter?”
