Daddy Always Gets Jealous

”Okay, I’ll take care of it right now.”

Uncle Guan glanced at the old master before leaving the visitation room to make a phone call.

The next day

Huo Bei entered the study and looked at Huo Jinnan, ”Sir.”

Huo Jinnan put down the photo in his hand.

Huo Bei approached the desk, ”I just received news that the old master has instructed Uncle Guan to deal with Miss Che.”

Huo Jinnan lit a cigarette and twirled it between his fingers.

Huo Bei stood quietly to the side, waiting. Although Miss Che and cousin had already cleanly divorced, the possibility of them being together openly didn’t seem very likely.

He anxiously glanced towards the Sir, wondering what the Sir planned to do in the future?

After a moment of silence, Huo Jinnan looked up at Huo Bei, ”Pack up, we’re going to Li City in a few days.”

Li City?

Huo Bei looked at Huo Jinnan.

Huo Jinnan stood up and walked towards the floor-to-ceiling window. He took a drag from his cigarette, his voice deep, ”Rent a small courtyard there, I might stay for a while.”

Huo Bei, recalling the call from the Miss just now, hesitated before speaking, ”Sir, the Miss just called and said cousin wants to meet you.”

”Just say I’m busy, I’ve gone out,” Huo Jinnan flicked the ash and looked back at Huo Bei with a somber gaze.

Huo Bei acknowledged and left the study.

Huo Jinnan thought about the words Wen Hua had said, his long fingers snuffing out the cigarette before he picked up the phone to call Qin Shaonan, ”I want to know about the Wen Family’s situation.”

After hanging up, he picked up the phone, entered Che Huan’s new number, glanced at it for a few moments, then turned and went downstairs.

He found the little one in the living room, texting hurriedly on a phone. Upon seeing Huo Jinnan, the child quickly put away the phone.

Huo Jinnan glanced over and took a seat nearby.

The little one pursed their lips and looked at Huo Jinnan.

Huo Jinnan didn’t speak, picked up the remote and turned on the TV, flipping to the news channel.

After a while, the little one peeked over and stealthily took out the phone, sending a quick text, ”Huanhuan, good night.”

Che Huan received the text, glanced at it, and thought of the little one, her feelings mixed.

Just as she replied with ”Good night,” Wen Nuan came back from her shower, snatched Che Huan’s phone away, and hid it behind her, curling the corners of her eyes and whispering with a smile, careful not to be overheard by Wen Hua and Bi Fu, ”Sister Huanhuan, are you chatting with your male god?”

Che Huan’s expression shifted, ”You’re overthinking, it’s just a sick kid.”

Wen Nuan observed Che Huan for a while and, seeing she didn’t seem to be lying, returned the phone to her, then sat down on the bed with a much softer voice, ”Sister Huanhuan, how did you meet your male god?”

Che Huan glared at Wen Nuan, ”I don’t know him!”

”If you don’t know him, how did he end up in your bedroom? Don’t think I’m clueless!” Wen Nuan kept pressing for answers but got nowhere and sat down, disgruntled, staring back at Che Huan.

Che Huan smiled subtly, ”Your eyes are already so big, if you keep glaring, you’ll become a big cat.”

”Cats are cute, though.” Wen Nuan rubbed her own round, oval-shaped face and suddenly hummed a song, ”The roof tiles, his piano keys, step by step, little by little, wandering on the edge of love... Falling for him, danger danger, not loving him, longing longing, he’s always silent...”

She sang while observing her cousin’s expression.

For some reason, as she listened, Che Huan suddenly thought of Huo Jinnan and felt a discomfort in her breathing, jabbing Wen Nuan forcefully, ”Alright, I’ve hit the pause button, stop!”
