Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Chapter 213: 213 Divorce, Car Accident (3)_1

Gu Jizhou’s breathing was erratic, ”The timing was too tight, and I didn’t get the chance to say anything.”

”You’re crazy!” Huo Jinyun scolded, all at once completely alert, feeling that something significant had happened.

”Mom, what did you mean by the words you said outside the old house that day?” Gu Jizhou involuntarily pressed down harder on the accelerator, pressing it more and more firmly!

”What... what do you mean?” Huo Jinyun’s voice lowered significantly as she got out of bed and put on slippers.

”You said that if I took Che Huan into the old house, I would get divorced the next second. What did that mean?” Gu Jizhou thought of his mother’s words from that day. He had carefully checked afterward but found nothing and assumed she was just bluffing him!

Huo Jinyun clearly didn’t want to say more, ”Why are you asking this?”

”I just transferred to military status...”

Suddenly, a ”boom” sounded, and there was silence.

Huo Jinyun said ”hello” several times, but there was no response.

She called again, only to be informed that the number dialed was in use and couldn’t be reached. Then she remembered the ”thunderous bang” from just before. Could it be that there was a downpour in Winter City?

She held her phone, quickly opened the browser, and checked the weather. Indeed, there was a thunderstorm in Winter City today, along with a typhoon.

Could Jizhou’s hasty trip here be unsafe?

Huo Jinyun called Huo Qichang, worried, but couldn’t get through to him either!

Anxious, she hurriedly called the family patriarch.

The family patriarch turned pale as he sat there after receiving the call, knowing that Jizhou had just left and had now gone AWOL from the army!

What could be so urgent that he braved the storm to rush back to Hong Kong?

After a moment of silence, he tried to call that side, but couldn’t get through either.

With the typhoon and downpour assaulting simultaneously, fierce in their arrival, it was certain that communications would be affected.

Just as he stood up, Huo Jinyun had already arrived.

Huo Jinyun looked at the patriarch, ”Grandfather, I was on the phone with Jizhou, and suddenly a thunderclap interrupted our call, and since then I haven’t been able to get through!”

The family patriarch’s hand clutched the walking stick tightly, his complexion worse than before, ”Don’t panic just yet. It’s normal to lose signal in this kind of weather.”

That’s what he said, but the patriarch was more anxious than anyone else.

Jizhou had always been impulsive, and now that he was returning to Hong Kong in such weather with no way to reach him, how could the patriarch be at ease? His grip on the walking stick tightened little by little.

Huo Jinyun sat on the sofa, appearing restless as she looked over at Gu Yunping.

One hour later, she finally got through to Huo Qichang, ”Dad, why did Jizhou suddenly return to Hong Kong?”

Huo Qichang was already angry about the situation, and his expression changed upon hearing from Huo Jinyun that Gu Jizhou had returned to Hongcheng, ”What did you say? He’s back in Hong Kong?”

Huo Jinyun, sensing the tone, knew it wasn’t good, finding herself suddenly breathless.

Huo Qichang, not wanting Huo Jinyun and the patriarch to worry, tried to reassure her, ”Ayun, it’s still alright here. You don’t need to worry. He probably hasn’t gone far, and I’ll have someone bring him back.”

Huo Jinyun’s voice changed in pitch, ”Dad, I was just on the phone with him when the call was suddenly cut off and I haven’t been able to reach him ever since.”

Huo Qichang calmed himself for a moment, his voice steady, ”The signal is always poor on the road back to Hongcheng, and with the bad weather, this is normal. I’ll call you and your grandfather as soon as he is back, okay?”

After hanging up the phone, he glanced outside at the sky. Although it was daytime, the dark clouds were oppressively blanketing the sky, making it look like deep night.

Torrential rain poured, accompanied by the rumble of thunder...

This weather had already persisted for two whole days!
