Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Che Huan looked at Huo Jinyun with angered eyes and smiled sweetly, ”Mrs. Gu, at least for now I’m still not divorced from your son. You call your son’s lawful wife someone else’s plaything—won’t it be laughed at if others hear it?”

Huo Jinyun’s face heated up, not expecting that in such a short time, Che Huan had become sharper with words, leaving her speechless. ”Very well, Che Huan, listen to me, there will be a time when you’ll cry!”

Her expression turned cold as she turned to get into her car and called out to the butler, ”Let’s go!”

Che Huan stood there, watching Huo Jinyun leave, her brow furrowed—what was Gu Jizhou doing at the military base?

Thinking about the divorce, if he went to the military base, would it be delayed again?

As soon as she returned to the bedroom, Che Huan called Qin Shaojin, ”Lawyer Qin.”

Qin Shaojin was reviewing materials and hummed while flipping through them.

Che Huan hesitated for a moment, ”I wanted to ask about the progress of the divorce case.”

Qin Shaojin put down the materials in his hand, remembered the slap on Huo Bei’s face, his peach blossom eyes squinting slightly, ”The trial will be before the end of this month.”

Che Huan asked worriedly, ”But it seems like Gu Jizhou is going to the military base—will it affect the progress of the case? I want to settle this matter as soon as possible.”

Going to the military base?

Qin Shaojin picked up a coffee cup nearby and rubbed its surface with his fingertip. ”How do you know that?”

Could it have an impact? Che Huan’s breath tensed involuntarily, ”Mrs. Gu just came to see me.”

Qin Shaojin rubbed the coffee cup with his long fingers and mused for a moment before speaking softly, ”It’s okay, it won’t affect the case.”

After hanging up, he quickly called Huo Jinnan, his voice somber, ”Huo Bei, Gu Jizhou is heading to the military base.”

Huo Jinnan’s eyes turned cold when he heard Qin Shaojin’s words, recalling what Gu Jizhou had said to him that day!

And, thinking about Uncle Guan going to investigate Gu Jizhou—it was because of this!

There had been no stir from grandfather’s side; it seemed he did not want to make a fuss.

”I understand.”

Huo Jinnan spoke in a deep voice, then hung up and stood up to leave the study.

When Huo Bei saw him coming out, ”Sir.”

Huo Jinnan glanced at Huo Bei and whispered a few instructions into his ear.

”Understood, sir. I’ll go check on it right away.”

Huo Bei hurried down the stairs and left Nanyuan Villa, personally making a trip to Winter City.

By the time he returned, it was already the next night.

Huo Jinnan took a drag of his cigarette, his gaze intensifying as he looked at Huo Bei.

Huo Bei spoke in a low voice, ”The young master previously terminated his military status. This time, his return to the base was arranged by the old master after a phone call; whether he will reenlist has yet to be confirmed. However, we’ll immediately receive a message as soon as there is news.”

”Hmm.”

Huo Jinnan flicked the ash from his cigarette and looked down at it as his gaze grew even more somber.

Huo Bei had already roughly guessed the young master’s thoughts; he didn’t want to divorce Miss Che. Once enlisted, his marriage would be a military one, and the divorce would require organizational approval. With the old master’s involvement, even if sir intervened, it would be difficult to get a divorce.

What was sir planning to do?

Could he really just let the young master join the military and reenlist?

Huo Jinnan looked at Huo Bei, ”You may go.”

...

In the blink of an eye, the day arrived for Gu Jizhou to leave for the military base.

Huo Bei had received no orders. Recalling the day Miss Che had left sir in tears and how he had rushed over to embrace her and help her into the car, Huo Bei spaced out, finding sir’s thoughts more and more elusive. Could he have been mistaken?

Did sir have no other intentions toward Miss Che?
