Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Huo Jinnan’s slender fingers rested the cigarette, his head bowed as he glanced at the sparks above without making a sound.

I knew it would be like this!

Gu Jizhou paused for a while, holding a breath before speaking out, ”Uncle, I got married.”

”Married?” Huo Jinnan lifted his gaze, his eyes coolly sweeping over Gu Jizhou, reflecting a dark gleam.

That look was like a pair of icy hands, wrapping around his neck and slowly tightening, making it involuntarily difficult to breathe, ”It’s been five years; I shouldn’t have kept it from uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, but my mother disagreed. Now that I think about it, it’s really absurd, so for the Mid-Autumn Festival, I plan to bring her to the old house.”

Huo Jinnan gently tapped off the ash from his cigarette, his voice chilly, ”Not Miss Du?”

”No! Her name is Che Huan.” Gu Jizhou lifted his head, looking at Huo Jinnan as if just uttering a few words had drained him of all his strength.

Huo Jinnan’s large hand landed on Gu Jizhou’s shoulder, patting it, neither too heavy nor too light.

Gu Jizhou stood there, feeling as if this arm wasn’t his own, numb and on the verge of collapsing!

Huo Jinnan glanced at the stiff smile on Gu Jizhou’s face, then passed by him and went straight into the yard.

Gu Jizhou turned his head to look in the direction Huo Jinnan had left, staring motionless, until the man’s tall and straight figure disappeared little by little, and his face gradually turned pale green.

One day, I still had to face it!

He stood there for a while, not knowing how long it had been, when he came to his senses and picked up his phone to call Huo Jinyun, ”Mom, I’m working overtime at the office tonight, I won’t be coming back.”

Upon hearing this, Huo Jinyun frowned unhappily, ”Come back earlier. Yuesheng will be coming over later. You can go back to the office after we’ve had dinner.”

Gu Jizhou raised his head to look at Huo Jinnan’s bedroom upstairs, noticing the light was on, then opened the car door and sat in the driver’s seat, ”There are many things still to be dealt with, and in time, I need to go to the military.”

”What?”

The cup in Huo Jinyun’s hand dropped to the floor with a ”bang,” shattering.

”In a while, I must go to the military. I’ve already talked to great-grandfather about it.” Gu Jizhou glanced back at Nanyuan Villa and started the car.

Huo Jinyun stood in the living room, suddenly feeling chilled to the bone, ”Why do you suddenly want to go back to the military?”

”Over the years, I’ve realized that I don’t like doing business; perhaps the military is more suitable for me.” Gu Jizhou spoke while driving.

”You’re crazy! How could you discuss this with him? Don’t you know your great-grandfather has three highs? If something happens to him, who will we rely on, just you and me?”

Huo Jinyun stood there, feeling a surge of unease, unsure whether Jizhou had water in his brain or what, but why would he want to return to the military?

As far as she knew, Jizhou didn’t like the military at all. He had tried all means to get her to plead with his grandfather to let him come back, feigning illness, breaking rules, talking back to superiors, fighting... what hadn’t he done? Today the sun really did rise from the west!

Gu Jizhou murmured lowly, ”Mom, I’ll hang up first.”

Returning to her senses, Huo Jinyun said sternly, ”Wait, don’t make trouble. Call your great-grandfather right now and tell him that what you said just now was nonsense.”

”Mom, I’ve made my decision.” Gu Jizhou hung up the phone, turned it off, slammed on the brakes, and stopped the car on the road, sitting in the driver’s seat and staring at the vast night outside, muttering to himself:

Che Huan, want a divorce to be with him?

No, I will not let go!
