Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 145: Revised: Volume 3, Chapter 42, Thunderbolt Tactics

Fatty didn’t care how the crazy woman would feel. He tucked the handgun into his waist and headed to the energy controller with the mechanical arm in hand. There was not much time left; he had to connect the electronic valve to the safety control system as quickly as possible.

Since the engine was already shut down, the liquefied energy in the energy duct had been reclaimed into the liquefier, eliminating the issue of energy spillage when opening the duct. With an unbelievable speed, Fatty opened the energy controller, yanked out the safety control system, dismantled the electronic valve in the duct, pulled out two tiny wires ten times thinner than a hair with No.18 fine pliers on the mechanical arm, opened the sealed cover of the safety control system, connected the wires to the two components of the safety system, and restored everything to its original state. The entire process took less than a minute.

Ivan, Audrey, and the crew present were all dumbfounded by Fatty’s operation, unable to believe their eyes. Not to mention that they couldn’t understand Fatty’s actions; just this technical skill alone was an artistic enjoyment in itself. Smooth as flowing water, accurate as a precision machine, swift as lightning... words couldn’t describe this dizzying and dazzling performance.

Everyone felt that the time was too short; they wished that this Fatty could continue with these actions elevated to an artistic level. Old Ghost Ivan’s mouth hung open as he mumbled, ”Master! Master, indeed!”

Fatty angrily shouted, ”Master your ass, hurry up and start it! Waiting for others to kill us all?”

Old Ivan snapped out of his daze, rushed to the console, and hurriedly started the power system. With a ”buzz” of the engine, the [Apollo] Transport Ship, which was previously gliding in space by inertia, regained its power. In just a few minutes, the engine was running at maximum power, the electronic valve in the duct opened fully, and the injected liquefied energy quickly flowed into the auxiliary thruster and the Main Engine. The whole ship accelerated forward like a fast horse whipped fiercely, at an unbelievable speed.

Old Ivan practically jumped three feet high. Such speed, not to mention seeing it, he had never even heard of it, but it was happening right here on the [Apollo]. The crew in the power cabin, feeling the crazy speed boost, were overjoyed, erupting into cheers of wild joy.

”Oh my god, a top-notch mechanic, I almost shot him dead.” Audrey’s slender, boneless hands covered her mouth, her heart filled with a hundred emotions, like riding a roller coaster. She stared unblinkingly at Fatty, recalled the embarrassing scene of being searched by him earlier, and her anger flared, but a blush rose on her beautiful face, making her look charmingly delicate. In a moment, the girl who only had the ship in her heart made a decision—to keep this person at all costs. For the [Apollo], short of a mechanic, Ivan was already old, and they desperately needed someone like him. As long as there was a one-in-ten-thousand chance, she must strive for it.

The [Apollo] was accelerating wildly, from despair to ecstasy, finally settling into calm as Audrey quickly ran to the communicator to inquire about the ship’s various data from the command room. When her nearly doubled data was reported by the ecstatic deputy, everyone in the power cabin could hear the cheers from the command room. A smuggling ship able to escape from the Redbeard Pirates was previously unthinkable.

Tian Xingjian secretly breathed a sigh of relief; narrowly escaped death! The distance between them and their pursuers was gradually widening. Even a modified high-speed boat couldn’t match [Apollo]’s current speed. The pirates could only watch in disappointment as this rundown smuggling ship raced away at an incredible speed.

After a moment of jubilation, Old Ghost Ivan grabbed Tian Xingjian and asked urgently, ”Quick, tell me, where is the problem? How did you know?” Tian Xingjian pushed away Ivan’s hand, dodged the question, and said, ”Well, this time, I guess I saved everyone?” Old Ghost Ivan was stunned, then nodded, ”Of course, if it weren’t for you, we definitely wouldn’t have escaped.” Fatty smiled modestly, then showed a greedy face, ”So, how should we settle the fee? I worked so hard...” He glanced at Audrey and said, ”Almost got killed too, the reward can’t be low.” Ivan was speechless, and the crew in the power cabin exchanged looks, all thinking: ”A top-notch mechanic like him can get anything anywhere; does he really care about money that much.”

Audrey felt a bit embarrassed, knowing he was angry about what happened earlier. After a long silence, she finally smiled sweetly and said, ”Since you’re our benefactor, the reward won’t be lacking. Money is just an external thing; just name your price, Mr. Zhang.” She stood there, her expression calm and composed, once again becoming the strong and serene female ship captain.

Tian Xingjian deliberately annoyed her, grinning naively, ”I don’t really know how much to charge. I heard smuggling profits are pretty high. This power equipment can help you make a lot of money without hindrance in the future. Charging eight to ten million shouldn’t be too much, right?”
