Chapter 102: Revised: Volume 3 Chapter 12 Russell Assassination Attempt

Ann Lei was both embarrassed and anxious, her ears turning red. She pounded Fatty’s chest with her small fists in a flurry, but suddenly she felt herself being hugged tightly by Fatty. Realizing this man was naked, her strength evaporated, her clothes soaked by the water droplets from Fatty’s body and clinging to her, revealing her curves.

Ann Lei had already considered herself Fatty’s person. Since their reunion, she became increasingly happy. The perpetual gray mood she had before disappeared, and as long as she was with Tian Xingjian every day, she felt completely satisfied. Sometimes, while watching TV, the two would squeeze together, their bodies touching or just barely apart, giving off a sense of intimate ambiguity.

Who knew, today Fatty was direct and bold, making Ann Lei flustered and at a loss. Her delicate heart felt as if he had kicked open the door to her heart forcefully. Leaning weakly against Fatty’s chest, her face burned with both embarrassment and urgency. Yet she didn’t think about breaking free at all; instead, she wrapped her arms around Fatty’s waist and buried her scorching cheeks into his embrace, too shy to open her eyes.

Fatty chuckled and asked, ”Eh, why did you come in? I’m showering! If you wanted to peep, you should’ve just told me.” His hand slipped inside Ann Lei’s clothes as he spoke.

Ann Lei couldn’t withstand such teasing. When Fatty’s large hand stroked her firm, smooth breast, she couldn’t help but slightly tremble, feeling both tender and numb, her body entwined around Fatty’s like jelly. She twisted and turned, not knowing whether to resist or welcome his touch, and as she was about to speak, Fatty’s kiss silenced her.

The two entangled in the bathroom, this kiss made them forget everything around them. The kiss melded the longing, love, grievance, and heartache over the ten years they’d spent apart. Ann Lei clung tightly to Tian Xingjian’s neck, knowing that she would never be able to leave this man for the rest of her life.

Suddenly, the sound of Mother Ann coming downstairs echoed from outside the bathroom. Both awoke with a start, and Ann Lei somehow found the strength to quickly push Fatty away, stomp her foot, and run out.

Fatty was startled too, nervously leaning against the door to eavesdrop. He heard Mother Ann’s voice from the living room: ”Leilei, why are your clothes so wet?”

Ann Lei’s voice was slightly flustered: ”I accidentally got wet just now, I’ll... I’ll go up and change.”

The hurried sound of Ann Lei running upstairs, thud, thud, thud.

”Why is your face so red, Leilei? Are you sick?” Mother Ann’s voice was noticeably raised, questioning Ann Lei with some confusion.

”Bang!” The sound of a door being closed followed, then Ann Lei’s embarrassed and anxious reply came, as if from a distance.

”No, I’m fine!”

Fatty had just breathed a sigh of relief when he suddenly heard Mother Ann’s voice outside the bathroom door. She knocked and asked, ”Who’s inside, is it Little Jian?”

Fatty’s heart nearly jumped out of his chest. If she knew he was showering, even if Mother Ann was dense, she’d understand why Ann Lei’s clothes were wet just now! This would be a disaster. In a desperate bid, Fatty used ventriloquism to mimic Big Head Karl’s voice: ”I’m the plumber. The showerhead in your bathroom is broken, I’m fixing it, it’ll be done soon!”

Seeing a stranger at home, Mother Ann hurriedly ran upstairs and knocked on Ann Lei’s door, asking, ”Is the plumber in the bathroom called by you?”

Ann Lei had heard the conversation between Mother Ann and the ”stranger” previously. After hearing the faint sound of tools inside the bathroom, she finally understood and suppressed her laughter, ”Yes, he’s fixing it now, don’t worry about it.”

Mother Ann shook her head, ”No wonder you got so wet. Let the worker fix the shower, why did you rush in?”

Ann Lei felt a sharp pain in her stomach, barely holding back her laughter, ”Mom, I want to eat six-flavored fish today, can you make it for me tonight?”

Mother Ann chuckled, ”Little brat, since when did you start liking six-flavored fish again? You’re asking for Little Jian, aren’t you? He’s been working hard lately, it makes me feel bad. I’ll go buy it now.”

Mother Ann left, and Fatty finally let out a deep breath upon hearing the sound of the main door closing. He dressed quickly, wiped his head with a towel, and walked out of the bathroom, only to be pounced on by the already eager Ann Lei standing guard at the door.

”Tian Mimimi, you dastardly villain!” She giggled as she jumped on Fatty’s back, pounding him with her small fists, laughing and scolding: ”You’re so bad, so bad! My mom treats you so well, and you deceived her. I’m telling you, you’re finished! Today, I’m going to rid the world of villainy!”

Fatty suddenly stooped down, causing the hanging Ann Lei to scream loudly, and the two wrestled into a pile.

Ann Lei was no match for Fatty. After a while, she was overwhelmed by his shameless wicked hands, her face reddening and her eyes filled with emotion. She bit Fatty hard, then jumped up and said, ”Get up, you’re taking me shopping this afternoon.”

For many men, accompanying women on shopping trips is a chore, but Tian Xingjian relished it. As they strolled along the bustling and vibrant streets of Gallipalan, watching his beloved woman indulge in childlike joy, he basked in seeing the mixed looks of surprise and envy from passing people, growing ever more smug.

Indeed, a man with a beauty by his side is always satisfied and proud, though he didn’t consider that people usually thinking upon seeing a beauty and a beast together often exclaim, ”Damn it, a fresh flower stuck in cow dung!” or ”Damn it, good cabbage gets mauled by pigs!” Whether cow dung or pig, the compliments never landed on him. One can imagine that where there’s pride, there’s also disappointment; things are never perfect.

The only thing Fatty regretted was that an entire shopping trip didn’t encounter any robbers or molesters, making the experience a bit lacking. Robbers could naturally be beaten up to showcase his heroic nature, as for molesters... Fatty narcissistically thought, ”If a beauty were to molest me, should I comply or resist?” This question was quite vexing, and after pondering for a while without any conclusion, he let it go.

Shopping continued all afternoon, and Fatty eagerly played the adviser role in the underwear section. Everyone could hear him exclaim: ”This one is great! Nothing is covered by this design, it’s fantastic!” Ann Lei blushed furiously and dragged him out of the store.

When Ann Lei finally left with the lingerie Fatty had chosen, she saw Fatty engrossedly staring at a virtual mannequin in the display window with another old pervert. Only when the saleslady helping dress the mannequin glared did Fatty reluctantly glance at the old pervert, and they walked away separately, disappointed.

Ann Lei was half laughing, half crying.

By evening, as the two finally returned home and prepared to eat, Tian Xingjian suddenly received a call, his face changing upon hearing the news. The call was from Hamid, informing him of an assassination attempt on Russell! Russell had incurred a shoulder scrape, fortunately not life-threatening.

There was no time for dinner. Fatty reached the academy at top speed, where it was already under lockdown. Guards checked his identification and let him through. Fatty inquired about the situation and quickly ran to Admiral Bernadotte’s office. Russell had encountered the assassination attempt along with several generals in a small conference room on the same floor as the office. There were at least two attackers! One could be confirmed as being in the female dormitory two hundred meters away, and another was possibly in the distant academy rear mountain, over a thousand meters away. Search efforts were underway.
