Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 116: Volume 3, Chapter 26: Logic and Tai Chi

The hand-to-hand combat of Mecha, after a period of training, Fatty finally completely changed his previously habitual command combinations. Now, he fully uses basic commands to form actions, reaching a level where having no moves is better than having moves, making him ecstatic. The martial arts training in the gravity chamber has also seen significant improvement. Techniques from Ancient Earth’s grappling combat, Eight Diagram Dragon Steps, Tai Chi Boxing, and Muay Thai using elbows and knees, even Hard Qi Gong, have made groundbreaking progress! Now Fatty, with a breath held in, his whole body is hard except for one part. Fatty instantly fell in love with Hard Qi Gong because after practicing, his whole body softens, except for that one part! Practicing such Qi Gong feels invincible!

Fatty excitedly thought that if the Ox Pushes the Cart couldn’t take down an opponent in the future, he could simply get up, practice a set of Hard Qi Gong, disperse the energy, and lie on the bed. No matter how many thousand moves the female hero uses, he would remain unfazed, wouldn’t that be awesome!

However, while studying traditional martial arts, Fatty discovered that there is a fundamental difference between Mecha combat and human combat, which is response speed!

This response speed not only includes Mecha maneuvering but also the natural reactions of the Mecha. The human nervous system can transmit brain commands and bodily sensations at the fastest speed. As long as you think about it, you can do it. But Mecha is different. Although it also has a Mechanical Computer, and the computer processes faster than humans, Mecha is ultimately mechanical. Its internal structure dictates that once it’s electronically attacked, the Mechanical Computer becomes useless. Electronic attack and counter-attack have always been the main research theme of human military technology. Neither side can surpass the other in this field. As soon as the attacking side’s methods are exposed, the defending side will study corresponding countermeasures and resistance tactics.

In Mecha combat, once the brain sensor, visual scanner, and auto-balancer, which can significantly enhance Mecha’s performance, are paralyzed, humans replace computers as the core of Mecha. All commands are implemented through human hands. Whoever has better basic performance, more reliable Mecha, and higher control skills will prevail.

Though control can be managed by humans, what about Mecha sensors? Originally, some auxiliary systems that could be realized by computers become practically useless under electronic attack suppression. For instance, balance: a Mecha maintains its balance by sensing the terrain. With the assistance of a balance system, the operator only needs to perform actions while the Mechanical Computer handles other auxiliary commands. The same applies to Mecha coordination. If the coordination system fails after an attack, then to execute a kick, the operator must command the upper body to stretch. Otherwise, the Mecha’s posture would be uncoordinated. Such control wastes commands.

Fatty discovered that under electronic attack suppression on the Mechanical Computer, traditional fighting from Ancient Earth greatly benefits Mecha combat!

Especially Tai Chi, which emphasizes smooth circular movements, overcoming strength with softness, defeating skill with simplicity, and using minimal force to achieve maximum impact! These techniques are founded on substantial power, like the inch force in Tai Chi. Without sufficient strength, one can’t exert inch force and may even injure oneself. Other moves like pushing, pulling, diverting, extracting, blocking, and leading focus on the explosive power of continuous and gentle streams. For humans, it’s using minimal force to achieve maximum impact, but for Mecha, it’s using substantial force for substantial impact! There’s no need to worry about pain, strength, speed, etc. The continuity of these techniques compensates for the drawbacks caused by computer paralysis in Mecha! These techniques have been refined through countless tests. Mastering them allows one to achieve twice the speed of others in combat! Especially when the opponent’s vulnerability is exposed, a continuous set of combat moves can devastate them!

Moreover, Tai Chi fits Logic perfectly. By slightly modifying Logic, Biological Dual State Metal can mimic Tai Chi’s smooth movements and the principle of overcoming strength with softness, alternating soft and hard characteristics!

Just imagine the opponent launching a move, balancing and preparing for the next, but your moves have already followed up. Or Logic’s arms suddenly wrap around the opponent’s Mecha’s arm like noodles, then inner strength is unleashed, breaking the opponent’s arm joints, making Fatty grin from ear to ear! Damn, no wonder the old saying goes, ’No one can stop a hooligan who knows martial arts!’

Looking at Fatty’s smug expression, Milan was also very happy. Now, she no longer looked like a female scientist. Her youthful nature, completely dug out by Fatty, made her more like Fatty’s devoted nanny than a research lab personnel! Women in love usually aren’t too rational, but Milan was different. She treats Logic like her child, finding any issue from the slightest clue. All the instruments and components on Logic are the best. The Mechanical Computer has been upgraded to a more powerful one. No matter what it is, if Milan thinks Fatty might need it, she’ll desperately mount it on Logic. If it doesn’t work after installation, she’ll remove it. For over-sized equipment, Milan issues tasks for miniaturization, leading to rapid advancements in laboratory equipment miniaturization.

Since she learned about the start of the battle in the Galileo Star System, she has been very worried, fearing that Fatty might suddenly be deployed to the frontlines again. Whenever Fatty left, she was on edge, praying that he would return safely. Upon hearing about new conflicts, she clings to Fatty with teary eyes every day, fearing that he would be sent to the frontlines unexpectedly.

When Fatty is not around, Milan works around the clock, nearly emptying the lab for Logic to better protect Fatty. Milan even spent little time with her father General Mickey when he arrived at Miloke.

As a result, Mickey called Fatty out alone and gave him a severe scolding, venting his anger before leaving. The Major General didn’t provide reasons during the scolding, just berated him and left. It wasn’t until Mickey’s transport ship landed in the capital that Fatty, still dumbfounded, realized... Is this how fathers-in-law usually treat their sons-in-law?

The Intelligence Bureau was also working overtime. Ann Lei hadn’t gone home to sleep for several days, continuously moving between the front command and the bureau. Fortunately, this allowed Fatty to see her frequently. Each meeting, their eyes would meet with a knowing smile, making the tense atmosphere even more memorable.

Waiting is the most torturous. The tense atmosphere at Miloke escalated step by step. Soldiers were on high alert, the warning lights growing deeper in color each day. With the 4th Fleet finally completing its engagement, the Space Jump Point revealed a flaw at last.
