Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 143: Volume 3 Chapter 41 Critical Moment_2

Old Ghost saw Fatty standing nearby with a puzzled expression and felt a bit strange, so he asked, ”Is something wrong?” Fatty did feel that something was wrong. From a piece of data on the power system terminal, he saw that this power system was only exerting sixty percent of its power. You have to know that this is equipment on a military destroyer, which is much larger and more advanced than a medium-sized transport ship, even if it’s retired, this data reflects the actual condition of the power system. But moments ago, Old Ghost Ivan clearly told Audrey that this system was fully operational. Fatty shook his head, thinking, ”Could it be because of side effects from transplanting onto different types of ships?” Old Ghost Ivan saw Fatty shaking his head and said angrily, ”If nothing’s wrong, hurry up and help check the system equipment. Did you think I called you here to stand around and play?” Fatty was startled by Old Ivan’s suddenly raised voice and, under the old man’s angry eyes, sheepishly entered the power equipment room.

”Damn it, just a bunch of smugglers. If I didn’t have this mission, I could wipe them out on my own. Sooner or later, I’ll pay them back for this!” With these indignant thoughts, Tian Xingjian followed two mechanics, checking the operation of the power equipment step by step. When he reached the connection point between the power equipment’s propulsion port and the energy controller, Fatty noticed a strange phenomenon: the electronic valve of the energy controller was only half open, while the control knob had been adjusted to the maximum.

After examining carefully for a long time, Tian Xingjian finally understood why the system index showed that this power system was only exerting sixty percent of its power. Without professional military personnel guidance, some issues during the transplantation process would never be discovered. Especially with the energy controller, which shows normal while only one side opens the electronic valve halfway. You must know that half of the power of this system already exceeds that of ordinary transport ships greatly. No one who hasn’t studied in the military system would know that the true purpose of such a destroyer is to make high-speed penetrations into enemy warship clusters. The speed provided by its power system is unimaginable for ordinary people.

The system onboard Apollo clearly had technician operation issues during the transplantation process. The electronic valve must be connected to the safety control system to be fully opened. It’s estimated they didn’t know how to activate the safety system or simply didn’t know what that black box was. So during installation, they directly connected the electronic valve’s circuit to the energy control system while leaving the safety system idle. Although it can still be used this way, the computer’s driver program won’t detect the safety system and will only supply stable energy within safe limits. No matter how high they adjust the electronic valve knob, the energy output won’t exceed the computer program’s control boundary.

Fatty pouted and thought, ”These idiots don’t know how long they’ve used this system, spent a fortune but left half of it idle, what a waste!” Just as he sighed and walked out of the power equipment room, he saw Audrey on the communication screen, no longer feigning composure. She was pale-faced as she spoke to Old Ghost Ivan, ”...They’ve sent a message demanding we immediately stop the ship, if we continue to flee, once caught, everyone will die. Their speed has already surpassed ours, at our current speed, we’ll be caught in no more than two days.” Old Ghost Ivan exclaimed, ”Who are they?” Audrey, ultimately just a girl under twenty, couldn’t hide the terror in her eyes. She said trembling, ”It’s Redbeard!”

”Redbeard!” Old Ghost Ivan’s face turned deathly pale instantly, he shivered and couldn’t utter a word. Seeing Ivan’s expression, Fatty couldn’t help but be scared too, he asked, ”Who is Redbeard?” Ivan’s eyes were blank, he mumbled, ”It’s over, it’s over! If only I hadn’t been lazy and had installed those auxiliary thrusters!” Seeing Ivan’s state, Fatty immediately realized they were in big trouble this time. Anxious, he grabbed Ivan’s collar angrily, ”Old Ghost, damn it, speak up!” Old Ivan seemed to have been scared senseless and didn’t even notice who dared talk to him like this. He trembled uncontrollably, saying, ”Redbeard is the most brutal pirate, nine out of ten times they leave no survivors. If they catch us, there’s only death! It’s over! It’s over!”

Seeing Fatty suddenly go mad and grab Ivan, Audrey in the communicator cried out anxiously, ”What are you doing! Let go of Uncle Ivan now!” Fatty turned a deaf ear, kept shaking Ivan and yelled, ”The control password of the power system! Give me the password! Stop the ship immediately!” The power cabin’s crew and mechanics, seeing this idiot Fatty bullying their supervisor, rushed forward to pull Fatty aside. Without looking, Fatty grabbed Ivan’s collar with one hand and kept shaking, with the other hand he grabbed a crew member’s arm, dislocated it, side-kicked and back-kicked two others sending them flying ten meters away, finally he grabbed a mechanic’s throat, gave a backhand slap, knocking him to the ground. The power cabin’s crew had never seen such violence; they were a bunch of ordinary workers familiar with machinery, and the fiercest among them were taken care of within seconds. They scattered in fear, not daring to approach.
