Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 103: Revised: Volume 3, Chapter 13, Girls’ Dormitory

In the office, several generals were sitting there with grim expressions. Russell didn’t seem to have any major issues; his injured shoulder had already been treated, and his spirit didn’t seem to be affected much. In the entire room, he seemed the most normal.

Now that Russell was fine, Fatty felt relieved. During this period, he had developed a sense of friendship or even kinship with Russell. Russell had devoted himself to teaching Fatty tirelessly, explaining battle cases and providing wise analysis of situations, which completely dissolved any barriers between them. The frequent intense debates, where the sparks of their military genius clashed fiercely, brought them even closer.

Fatty couldn’t help but admire such a general! Perhaps, subconsciously, he had already regarded this mentor as a surrogate father, alongside Mr. Ann. Both of them embodied that kind of manly grandeur and depth.

Russell recounted the events to Tian Xingjian with a smile.

It turned out that at the time, Russell and several generals were discussing the Federation Army’s initial landing plan on the main star Lucerne Planet in the Galileo Star System. Just as Russell thought of a question and moved his chair to stand up, a bullet grazed his shoulder. It was an armor-piercing round that went straight through the bulletproof glass window of the meeting room. Russell reacted quickly, immediately diving down. The second bullet passed through the spot where he had just been standing and hit the wall, leaving a hole.

Luck and Russell’s long-nurtured quick reflexes saved his life. Either of the two bullets hitting a vital part would have been fatal.

The school’s guards quickly sealed off several buildings from which the meeting room could be targeted, ensuring the assassin could not escape. Meanwhile, the garrisoned troops around the academy immediately surrounded it and enforced a lockdown.

Ballistic analysis indicated that the two bullets came from different shooting locations: one from the rooftop of the girls’ dormitory and the other from a wooded area behind the school.

This building where the front command is located should be heavily guarded. Outside the academy, there are mobile patrol posts, and the academy itself is equipped with biological radars and energy burst device detectors. The area within several kilometers around the academy is under radar surveillance!

Both bullets were fired by sniper rifles driven by energy burst devices. The one from the girls’ dormitory was quickly found, as the assassin did not take it away but abandoned it on the rooftop.

There were no fingerprints on the gun. At the time of the incident, there were hundreds of people in the girls’ dormitory, and no one saw anyone go up to the rooftop.

How did the assassin sneak in? Such a heavy sniper rifle couldn’t have easily passed detection, and the energy burst device could not escape the detector’s scan! And how did he know that Russell was attending a meeting?

In Russell’s calm and indifferent narration, the entire academy was shrouded in a mist of mystery.

Forget about the back mountain for now!! Fatty immediately made a decision and focused on the girls’ dormitory! That was the place he most wanted to visit!

When Fatty applied to Admiral Bernadotte to participate in the search, he was immediately approved. Firstly, he was Russell’s student, and secondly, the generals knew Fatty’s capabilities. Perhaps this sensational Federation incident could be solved smoothly with his involvement.

The girls’ dormitory was in chaos. This dormitory happened to be the building opposite Fatty’s old dormitory, where Catherine and her friends lived. The girls were still calm, though their faces were a bit pale. Such a serious incident had occurred, and the assassin might still be hiding among them. These aspiring female soldiers, who had just entered the military academy and hadn’t been tested by war, were understandably a bit scared.

The dormitory building had a total of six floors, with each floor having a life teacher and a student elected to be in charge. At the request of the guards, the girls stayed in their rooms writing statements about their whereabouts during the incident. They had to clarify what they were doing at the time, along with the time, place, and witnesses.

Fatty wandered around the girls’ dormitory with great interest, as this had always been his dream sanctuary. Sneaking into the girls’ dormitory using the invisibility technique had been the greatest motivation for him to learn disguise and stealth skills. Now, it was incredibly exciting to be able to walk in openly. However, this excitement only lasted for a short while. After all, there were many guards in the dormitory, and the place had lost its lively and charming atmosphere. Only the various undergarments hanging on the fast-drying racks still told tales of past erotic memories.

Tian Xingjian first saw the sniper rifle. It was a special sniper rifle from the Leray Federation, energy-driven, weighing ten kilograms, with immense power, capable of penetrating 20 centimeters of composite armor. Piercing bulletproof glass was no problem. The gun was made of steel, and scanning through special alloys shouldn’t be an issue, but its energy burst device absolutely couldn’t evade the detector’s scan! How did the assassin smuggle the gun in?

Fatty carried the gun from room to room, carefully observing each girl’s facial expressions and subtle body movements.

No matter how psychologically strong the assassin was, seeing the weapon they used would cause an involuntary psychological reaction. This reaction couldn’t be controlled and was a conditioned reflex. The only thing the assassin could control was their emotions and expressions, suppressing the conditioned reflex through various self-suggestions. However, Fatty was confident he could see through the assassin’s true face!

He checked every dormitory, but found no clues. He did notice that the female cadet from the Special Forces Camp, who often competed with him, lit up with surprise upon seeing him, as if he were her friend, not an enemy. Fatty shook his head and walked away. Women were indeed strange.

Meanwhile, the classmate known as Big White Rabbit burst into tears upon seeing him. Her dorm mates said she had been crying for a long time, scared by the guards. Fatty looked at her chest, worried she would cry out all the moisture from her bosom, too.

As time passed, the wooded area behind the school was already surrounded, and the search was underway. However, hopes weren’t high. The assassin had only fired one shot and likely slipped away before the guard troops reacted.

Detailed statements from the girls’ dormitory were collected. After thorough screening, thirteen girls couldn’t clearly explain their situations during the incident. Since the dormitory space was so limited, mutual verification was relatively easy. If there was any collusion, that would be questioned in the next step. For now, the most important thing was to clarify these thirteen girls’ issues first.

The questioning took place in a temporarily vacated dormitory, which happened to be that of the Special Forces Camp female cadet, who was also one of the thirteen girls. Fatty, a police officer from the Galipalan Central Police Station responsible for criminal investigation, and a Constitutional Soldier Colonel co-presided. Fatty sat on Catherine’s bed and suddenly saw a very seductive piece of underwear. He let out a comfortable moan and sprawled lazily, suddenly wondering if things got ugly, would the scene become quite fragrant?

Candles... or whips?
