Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Cheng Zhan remained silent.

He loved making money, asking him to give it away was like killing him.

”If it’s too difficult, at least we can hide underneath and watch the show, it’s not easy to see the Business Alliance trying to curry favor, hehe...”

Cheng Zhan didn’t disturb the Ruble’s joyful moments anymore.

He exited City Hall.

Through the streets and alleys, he returned through a hidden door to the bottommost temporary resting room for gladiators in the arena.

These rooms were cold and rudimentary, called resting rooms, but they were more like cages. Even the lowest-tier gladiators besides Cheng Zhan were unwilling to stay here.

This room was slightly larger, with a few pits gouged out on the walls, candles burning halfway with wax tears merged on them, nearby a spear was stuck with half of it embedded into the wall, besides there were hand axes, shields, short knives...

The material of these weapons was varied, some were beast bones, some were plants, and there were the Skull Crusher’s war hammer and Slaughterer’s bone whip.

Bloodstains were splattered on the weapons, the gathered lethal aura made everyone who entered the room feel shivers from their hearts.

These were Cheng Zhan’s spoils.

He drew out two of the most frequently used curved sabers, sitting cross-legged on the earthen kang under the weapon wall.

The cold seeped in from all directions, provoking the muscles to contract slightly, a surge of warmth flowed from the shoulder blade spine through his body, beginning to maintain body temperature balance, thick blood started racing through the vessels, it was like an internal furnace, warming the entire room like a spring.

Cheng Zhan felt alive again.

Only here, in the arena, did he feel alive.

Every day watching gladiators fight, feeling the cold, feeling the blood boil with fear in the instant of life and death, feeling the post-catastrophe survival and satisfaction, this was the only way he could feel alive.

He had to stand here, fight to the end.

Even though this choice seemed foolish to ordinary people, it didn’t matter.

He would still stand to the end.

Some live on the road, some live in the arena, none of it means anything, it’s just finding a reason to stay alive anyway.

...

”June 1, 2037, Metal Corrosion.”

”A new month, a new day, I’m curious to see what they’re up to!”

The conductor stayed calm on the train for a day, partly to help the young cook stabilize her pregnancy, partly for appropriately stabilizing the energy fluctuations of the train.

Two people advanced to Tier Two together.

Su Reya and Professor Ma.

The former is not much to say, although Su Reya was somewhat bitchy, the fact that she could enter Shu Wei’s elite squad already indicated her ability.

The people Shu Wei brought onto the train initially all have the potential to advance to Tier Two, it’s just a matter of speed.

But what truly amazed everyone was Professor Ma, quietly breaking through the Tier Two barrier.

Let alone the crew, the entire train has countless people stuck before Tier Two.

Low basic attributes or skill levels are understandable, at least there’s hope, but lacking life force is tough, like Director Xu and Lao San.

No matter how hard they try, they can’t surpass the natural chasm of life force.

Though Professor Ma is already in his sixties, his life force is as vigorous as a typical young person, even now his temples are white.

Su Huan suspected his advancement might be related to the correlation between Professor Ma’s ability and the rules.

There are four types of stones on the train: [Energy] [Gravity] [Enlightenment] [Fear], and Fear has been sealed by him, commonly people research the first two.

With so many experts studying those few rule stones every day, yet only Professor Ma advanced, saying the ability had no connection is impossible.

Now several old guys are attempting this path, the [Energy] stone has been moved to the energy supply room, which is filled with ”Power Suppliers,” best suited for the energy rules.

However, observing results will at least take half a year, Su Huan prepared, planning to probe into the depth of the Dragon Gate again.

Huayang still acted as his guide.

After a few steps, the lad couldn’t hold back, ”Brother, heard you didn’t like the gift last time?”

Su Huan chuckled inwardly, smiling insincerely, ”Like it, like it very much, I’ve also prepared a gift for you.”

”Really?” Huayang showed a bit of surprise, followed by concern, ”But I feel like your smile is a bit fake, like my uncle’s when he plans to spank me.”

”Why spank you, you’re doing great.”

”That’s fine, by the way, my uncle says he’s inviting you to dinner tonight...”

”No problem.”

”Alright, then we’ll wander a bit before heading over, this time I’m taking you to a good place!”

Huayang excitedly led the way, unaware that the conductor’s mouth had almost reached the back of his ears.

Five minutes later, Su Huan felt something was off.

The attractiveness of the people on the street seemed to have risen greatly.

Walking through a street, not a single ugly person was in sight.

Each one was clean, well-dressed, Su Huan almost thought he had wandered into a bustling pedestrian street before the apocalypse.

Watching the blonde, blue-eyed, long-legged girl selling fruit by the roadside, Su Huan stopped in his tracks.

”Want to buy some fruit?”

The woman flashed a radiant smile at Su Huan, speaking fluent Donghuang Chinese.

Before Su Huan could voice any doubts, Huayang beckoned in front of a restaurant.

Su Huan chuckled inwardly, ’Unveiling the dagger after the plan, huh.’

Upon entering, he was enveloped by a fragrant breeze; the restaurant was over 100 square meters, filled with more than thirty people, over two-thirds were women in their twenties and thirties, the rest were young, beautiful ladies.
