Armed Train in the Apocalypse

”This life energy is enough for me to advance to Tier Three, but it’s too high up for me to reach. Maybe this guy could help; he must have a way...”

”But what if he doesn’t share it with me? Should I not tell him?”

”But what if he asks me?”

”Then I just won’t speak.”

Traveler’s Tree had just thought of this foolproof plan and was about to greet Su Huan when he saw him hanging two soldiers on his branches, then looking at him with a strange expression, ”Why whisper so loudly?”

Traveler’s Tree: ”...”

Forgot this guy can understand tree language.

Occasional flashes of fire appeared in the jungle, creating an anthropomorphic and eerie atmosphere between the man and the tree.

Traveler’s Tree didn’t know how to handle such complex matters, so he shook his canopy, refreshed his memory, and said with a particularly joyful emotion, ”You came fast again, is this food you brought for me? But I don’t eat living creatures; they would disturb my consciousness.”

Su Huan pondered; it seemed that previous mutated Banyan Tree came about this way.

Absorbing too many living beings disturbed its main consciousness, turning it into a bizarre-shaped tree.

However, Su Huan wasn’t planning on letting him off so easily; thinking of using his tree, not to mention tricking him into doing hard labor.

It was truly rebellious pressing upon him.

”You haven’t answered my question yet.”

”What question?”

Feeling the sincere emotion from Traveler’s Tree, Su Huan narrowed his eyes, suspiciously, ”Are you the one who knows the method to seal memory?”

”How do you know? After all, I am a tree, and I’ve lived for a long time and seen much, so instinctively, we compress and preserve useless memories to avoid wasting life on them.”

”That’s so miraculous.”

”Of course, by the way, why do you ask, did something happen just now?”

”You can think about it yourself.”

Facing Su Huan’s enigmatic gaze, Traveler’s Tree searched for the recently sealed memory.

The awkward atmosphere rose again.

Traveler’s Tree shook his canopy once more.

”Hey, you came so fast again...”

Su Huan slightly smirked, ”You can look at your earlier memory.”

Traveler’s Tree hesitated for a moment but still complied.

...

”I feel like I’ve met you many times before?”

”Really? Did you forget something?”

”Never mind, it’s not important. Speaking of which, I sensed a pure life energy, what is it?”

”Are you sure you don’t want to know what happened just now?”

”I always feel like something bad will happen.”

”Tsk tsk.”

Seeing his sluggish consciousness, Su Huan stopped teasing him and walked to the two soldiers nearby; they were embarrassed, trying to stand up but almost fell off the branch.

Su Huan looked at them with sympathetic eyes, ”Eliminated in a minute and a half, you two should think about how to handle Lao Er’s trial.”

”Keep an eye on them for me.”

After instructing Traveler’s Tree, Su Huan once again flew to the location where the signal flares appeared.

The mutated plant that was gobbling up sensed Su Huan’s atmosphere and obediently spat out the soldier.

The soldier gasped for air, face full of shame, ”Train Captain...”

Su Huan was about to say something when his expression suddenly turned calm, and as the soldier was about to speak, he grabbed and flung him onto the rooftop several hundred meters away.

In an instant, he floated into the air.

Thirty kilometers away, the plant-filled jungle was still dark. The winds swept through, rustling the trees, seeming no different from the beginning. Even Traveler’s Tree hadn’t noticed a thing.

But in Su Huan’s perception, hundreds of units were rapidly surrounding the area where Traveler’s Tree and the soldier’s assessment were held.

Their aura didn’t differ from the surrounding plants much; if not for the distinct speed of movement, Su Huan wouldn’t have sensed their presence.

”Su Huan, it seems something is approaching.”

Yu Yue’s worried voice echoed in his ear.

”Yeah, just sensed it.”

”Should I notify He Jie to cancel the assessment?”

”No need, the strongest don’t even reach Tier Two, let them come down and fish themselves, I’ll go check it out.”

Su Huan was about to leave when Yu Yue stopped him.

She jumped out of the train carriage holding the City Breaker, landing on a treetop, eyebrows slightly furrowed, ”I’ll go with you.”

Seeing the woman with lowered eyes silent, Su Huan recognized her determination as stubborn as a little chef, hesitated, and called Lin Jin over.

Pang Tu went to the combat group as conductor, and Lin Jin naturally became Yu Yue’s adjutant.

Although using a Tier Two to protect a Tier Two might seem amusing, Yu Yue’s state made him wary of splitting focus.

He Jie heard there were enemies and immediately mobilized the entire regiment, combat group included, planning to test the new recruits’ strength, and claimed to eliminate 90 percent.

Lao Er betted only ten percent.

By the time everything on this end was arranged, that group of things was already twenty kilometers away.

In the Plant Zone, such advancing speed could be considered terrifying.

Su Huan and Yu Yue set off.

...

Mist seeped out from the rotting leaf layer, dampening everything in the jungle to a blur.

Heavy breathing sounded like wind brushing through the vegetation, without any abruptness.

Three fully armed soldiers walked through the jungle, leaning on each other, moving forward, ensuring each step was firm before proceeding to the next.

The soldier in the middle quietly said, ”Straight ahead, there’s an explosive plant 20 meters away, shield.”

The soldier on the side had a tall, thin stature, and eyes like a black panther’s, without any response, but he already appeared shield in hand at the front, none other than the ”new recruit” Ding Hui who joined the Armed Train.
