Armed Train in the Apocalypse

After waiting a while, there was no response.

Su Huan looked up at Li Han, who awkwardly said, ”I don’t have enough energy, I can only initiate the preliminary growth.”

”Oh, just preliminary...”

Su Huan tried to communicate with the newly sprouted willow branches, but there was no response.

He glanced at the Crown Pear Tree; today, Prince Pear was obviously stingy, not willing to grant even a bit of extra Life Energy.

Could it be that the mutated willow tree doesn’t count as purebred in his concept?

Or does he have a special fondness for the first Traveler’s Tree?

Su Huan didn’t bother to explore further; everyone on this train has their own ideas anyway. As for whether Uncle Xiaoya would sprout, he didn’t care—it’s something done casually, if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t—consider it as bad luck.

While the two were talking, a sneaky yellow figure emerged from beside Su Huan, with deer-like eyes staring earnestly at the willow branches on the ground, and about to take a bite.

In the next second, Su Huan grabbed it by the nape and tossed it out.

The little kangaroo didn’t mind, stood up, shook its orange-yellow fur, and hopped away to play elsewhere.

Li Han looked on with awe; only the conductor could toss a few hundred kilograms of kangaroo like a ball.

”Then I’ll leave this to you, keep an eye on it, don’t let those random things eat it,”

Su Huan instructed.

Li Han solemnly said, ”Alright, I’ll immediately plant a circle of fresh grass nearby.”

Su Huan thought about it—that vine was supposed to purify the air. What’s the use of planting those?

Especially with the Crown Pear Tree here, the air in the Cultivation Pod shouldn’t be too bad.

Li Han smiled, ”This grass is quite sensitive; it hits back if touched. The evolutionary lifeforms on the train are quite afraid of it.”

”Alright.” Su Huan suddenly remembered something, and asked with a gentle smile, ”I heard you got the highest reward last month?”

Li Han scratched his head, ”Serving the train, it’s all in a day’s work.”

The two chatted a little more, Li Han seized the opportunity to inquire about some issues regarding the usage of reward evolutionary resources. Although Su Huan rarely used them later, his understanding of rules and energy made even casual advice significantly enhance their efficiency.

There were also minor issues like points expenditure, train goods prices, and more.

Su Huan listened carefully; while these were trivial to him, seeing his established system being refined through operation was quite a peculiar feeling.

Su Huan was not genuinely idle; Li Han had long passed the observation period and was one of the seniors. Before entering the Plant Zone, Hu Shuo had already submitted a project about setting up a separate department for the Cultivation Pod, with the chief candidate being Li Han.

Through repeated upgrades, the train farm and Cultivation Pod had long surpassed their initial goal of ”providing small quantities of vegetables.”

The train farm and Cultivation Pod could provide more than thirty types of fruits and vegetables, accounting for eighty percent of daily consumption.

Among the several thousand people on the train, only twenty percent of consumed resources were reserve supplies, greatly alleviating the train’s reserve and resource pressure.

Additionally, the Cultivation Pod integrates functions for oxygen supply, materials, experimental planting, breeding, observation, research, etc., and staff numbers have continually expanded. Maintaining ecological balance in the Cultivation Pod alone requires over a hundred people, not to mention those mutant plants and animals requested by the various laboratories.

The seeds of two additional Traveler’s Trees are undergoing preliminary cultivation by Li Han.

Providing materials alone is impossible; Li Han and the team spend everyday with plants and animals, and their observational experience accumulates into expertise. Over time, they naturally undertake part of the research work.

A department ensuring survival and acting as a technological core cannot indefinitely remain doing menial tasks at the bottom.

It’s proper to quickly elevate them to work hard under the conductor’s leadership.

After today’s conversation, Su Huan found Li Han to be a decent young man, with desires and ideas, and exploitable space. Listening to his plans, it sounds like he’s trying to court a girl, then marry, and then have a ”big three single” compartment, and bear a child, which would increase his pressure significantly!

Can’t he save a bit?

On the train, without even an independent dormitory, how do you chase a girl?

Both of you inside making sauce, while a few roommates squat outside listening in—is that conducive to intimacy?

The basic requirement for an independent dormitory is to be promoted to management level, which grants a narrow, single-person room.

Level 5 Crew like Li Han have relatively better accommodation, their single-person dormitory is two-story, essentially doubling the space.

Upon reaching the head steward level, one side can be opened, doubling the space again, with a bedroom upstairs and a complete living room downstairs, even allowing for a small kitchen to cook.

At He Jie and Yu Yue’s level, both sides can be opened, allowing for upper and lower levels with space for a complete three-bedroom, one living room, kitchen and bathroom.

This is what train people commonly refer to as ”big three single,” capable of providing private accommodations for an entire family.

A standard train dormitory is three meters wide, four meters long, with a net height of two meters and twenty centimeters—similar to a small bedroom on the ground.

Three standard dormitories make 36 square meters, and with two levels, it totals 72 square meters. In a post-apocalyptic environment, living in a 72-square-meter room on a safe train is simply luxurious.

In fact, aside from the few like He Jie who bring their families, most of the upper management won’t live so extravagantly.
