Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The resources in Dragon Gate Market exceeded Su Huan’s expectations.

The Rust Area is right next to the Plant Zone and Wind Snow Zone, the former providing food and the latter offering various materials buried under the ice and snow.

Here, you can see not only basic items like food and materials, but also a large quantity of preserved freeze-dried vegetables, meats, and pre-apocalyptic tobacco and alcohol.

While food isn’t scarce on the train, tobacco and alcohol are, especially with He Jie, a smoke enthusiast, setting the trend, leading to a great consumption of these stimulant products. Most point redemptions revolve around them.

Although many plants used as tobacco leaves have been found in the Spore Zone and Plant Zone, it’ll still take some time before they become finished products.

Su Huan directly ordered a batch to replenish the inventory.

Huayang wanted to pay for it, but Su Huan refused, throwing him some Tier Two Pan-energy Crystals at market prices.

Energy isn’t valuable to him. Were it not for the fact that his handmade ”Energy Crystals” explode upon leaving his hand, Su Huan’s energy reserves could buy the entire Dragon Gate City.

After wandering around, Su Huan saw many novel things in the market, like weapons used by gladiators.

They’re mostly made from high-tier materials rather than armed weapons.

These gladiators’ weapons often sell for higher than the materials themselves, especially those of ranked gladiators.

It’s a bit like pre-apocalyptic celebrity merchandise.

Constantly reminding Su Huan that this is a gladiator city.

”Bro, aren’t you going to check out the Colosseum? I hear there’s a particularly fierce newcomer who has won ten consecutive victories and is starting to challenge the rankings.”

Huayang leaned over to Su Huan, saying excitedly.

”Tell me about it,” Su Huan replied indifferently.

Ever since entering Dragon Gate, the word ”Colosseum” has been ringing constantly in his ears. The entire combat system of Dragon Gate might be built around this Colosseum.

”To increase the utilization rate of the Colosseum, Mayor Lu redesigned the rules. All gladiators, regardless of their origins from the wilderness or major forces, can gain a platform by winning ten consecutive matches in the regular competition.”

”The entire Dragon Gate Colosseum has thirty-six platforms, which means thirty-six rankings. Anyone who achieves a rank can obtain positions in Dragon Gate City, recruitment from major forces, and the higher the rank, the higher the worth, and the more benefits gained.”

”To achieve a higher rank, you must defeat the strong ones up front. This process is called ’ranking challenges.’”

”The top ranks are occupied by gladiators nurtured by major forces, with only a few from the wilderness...”

Su Huan glanced at the distant Colosseum. The building wasn’t tall, with the exposed walls only about four meters high, enough for a Tier One Evolver to jump over with effort. But underneath was a giant pit over twenty meters deep. While above, Su Huan thought it might be some underground fortress.

”What does a major force need with this ranking?”

Su Huan asked with slight puzzlement.

”Show strength, sell Genetic Potions. The higher a gladiator’s rank, the more impressive the family’s Genetic Potions, leading to better sales...”

Su Huan looked around the market, skeptically asking, ”Can citizens afford high-tier Genetic Potions?”

Huayang shrugged, ”A little adds up. A scavenger might never accumulate enough for a complete set of Tier One Profession Potions in their lifetime, but Dragon Gate has a population of ten thousand people. Over decades, they can sell ten thousand potions.”

”After all, there are only a few major forces, and it’s just resource swapping between their left hands and right hands. The endless stream of Scavengers in Dragon Gate is the real wealth code.”

Su Huan restrained the divine light in his eyes. At this moment, he sensed the demeanor of the family’s young master in Huayang.

”Is the Business Alliance ranked first?”

”Oh, that’s not it.” Without waiting for Su Huan to ask, Huayang spoke out, ”The first is Cheng Zhan of Dragon Gate, Tier Two ’Death Gladiator.’ The name of Dragon Gate Colosseum is derived from his nickname, reigning as the undefeated champion for half a year, with no one able to challenge him yet.”

”So when they often say ’leap through the Dragon Gate,’ they’re referring to defeating Cheng Zhan!”

”My uncle mentioned that as long as Cheng Zhan stands in the Colosseum, Ruble can sit steadily in the town hall counting money.”

”It’s safe to say without Cheng Zhan, there would be no Dragon Gate...”

As Huayang explained, the outline in Su Huan’s mind became increasingly clear.

No wonder the ”Gladiator” series was so widely spread in the previous life, from the Rust Area to the Acid Rain Zone.

Turns out there’s such a formidable person holding it up.

Huayang evidently highly admires this person, with eyes shining when talking about him.

However, Su Huan didn’t visit the Colosseum, since it’s merely a Tier Two, not worth his time.

If it was the previous life, Cheng Zhan might have been a legend.

But at this point in time, anyone pales in comparison to the train conductor.

Picking up a few more items and eating some fried vegetables, Su Huan returned to the train.

Huayang said he had something to deal with his uncle, so they temporarily separated.

Just as he landed on the deck, Su Huan felt a subtle atmosphere.

The energy didn’t fluctuate much, but they sensed a hint of unfriendly intentions towards Su Huan.

Su Huan squinted slightly, not moving forward directly but entering through the Cultivation Pod, checking through each compartment. The people on the train continued busy as usual, with their attitude towards him mixed with respect and awe.

Before reaching the compartment, he saw the little chef standing outside, her eyes downcast. She asked softly, ”Did you eat outside?”

Su Huan felt slightly uneasy but didn’t know where the problem lay.
