Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The naming issue is temporarily resolved, but we’re still far from fully equipping the train with the Four Elephants Battle Armor.

Yu Jing is becoming more obsessive day by day, and the mechanical laboratory’s output relies entirely on Zhou Qing and Tan Yunxi.

Industrialization within the train’s space is impossible, even as a small workshop, each component has to be meticulously crafted from scratch. The only advantage is the Evolvers, each Evolver equates to a versatile production line; with guidance, they can assemble a Power Armor from a pile of materials.

”Also, regarding the matter of upgrading the Cultivation Pod level that I mentioned before...”

Hu Shuo timely brought up a new topic.

”Proceed as planned.”

Su Huan had long made up his mind on this matter and agreed on the spot.

Then there’s the adjustment of the combat group’s tasks; previously, the combat group only needed to perform train guarding and emergency support tasks, but with the train upgrades, miscellaneous tasks are increasing.

For instance, manual operation of train weapons, daily patrol vigilance, Crown Pear Tree guard duty, and prison watch...

Especially the prison watch. Initially, Director Xu’s prison population was not large, so it only needed soldiers stationed at the Crown Pear Tree to watch over them. But as the conductor’s heart softened, the number of prisoners increased.

New Eden’s three priests, one Chongying Tier One Evolver, Wei Dong, Longyan, a White Elephant Tier Two female captive, Number 1, and a Tier One mutant leader.

Most of them don’t need much attention; they are either incapacitated or cooperative.

Like the High Priest and Number 1.

But the White Elephant Tier Two woman’s injuries are gradually healing; she will eventually wake up. Combined with the increasing number of dangerous individuals, high-tier Evolvers with clear responsibilities must guard them.

It’s not enough just for Mirror to glance over occasionally.

Such negligence will sooner or later lead to a mishap.

Su Reya, who habitually slacked off, questioned, ”If it’s such a hassle, why not abolish the prison?”

Director Xu, as the main administrator, explained, ”The existence of the prison accelerates my research progress by 30%. More evolver samples can propel research in various domains like skill matching, Evolution Potion, monitoring equipment, and Life Force, so it cannot be abolished.”

”Not only should it not be abolished, but I even suggest expanding the prison to collect more professional samples and perfect the train’s ability lineage.”

Hearing the word ’lineage,’ Su Huan sighed slightly.

In his memory, those lineages belonged solely to large factions; he never thought the train would someday use them.

Other matters might hold little interest for him, but when it comes to evolution, he is more passionate than anyone.

Upon Director Xu’s proposal of ”perfecting the train’s ability lineage,” he agreed without a second thought.

”Since it can be utilized, let’s expand it. As for the guarding aspect...” Su Huan pondered, ”Mirror doesn’t have much to do, so let her lead a group of soldiers to specialize in this task. The department will be under the combat group, Lao San, you’re in charge of arrangements.”

”Yes!”

Lao San seriously acknowledged.

Thus, the train’s administrative structure underwent subtle changes once more.

The Cultivation Pod was separated from the logistics group and became the fifth major group, the production group, alongside logistics, combat, research, and manufacturing.

The combat group added a department.

Administrative affairs were mostly dealt with, and a major goal was set to leave the Plant Zone by mid-May, along with the phased goals for each department.

Once everyone dispersed, Hu Shuo returned to the conference room shortly after. Seeing Su Huan still there, he greeted respectfully, ”Conductor, you wanted to see me.”

”Ah, sit,” Su Huan, leaning his cheek on his hand, casually invited, ”Do you have any insights regarding gifting?”

Hu Shuo tentatively asked, ”Who is the recipient of the gift?”

”Lord Lian gave me a Tier Three pelt, is it appropriate for me to give her a Tier Two yellow pelt?”

The incident of Yu Yue getting jealous reminded him that she had already sent a gift; he must reciprocate. Otherwise, once Lord Lian personally comes to see him, this won’t be a problem that mere goods can solve.

Hu Shuo shook his head, ”When gifting women, you can’t just consider value, but you can’t ignore value either. It doesn’t have to exceed, but at least equal.”

Su Huan scratched his head, ”Tier Three for Tier Three, what’s left in the warehouse, right, there are still plenty of Tier Three locust trees, should I package them and send them?”

”Raw materials are too rough; they lack thoughtfulness. It’s best if there’s some sign of your craftsmanship...”

Su Huan’s eyes drifted slightly; he actually used the Tier Three locust wood as the main material once to make a small craft.

If he were to make it again, he’d surely be more skilled than last time.

But this thought only flashed briefly in his mind. Even with low emotional intelligence, he wouldn’t gift Lord Lian a coffin.

No matter how valuable the coffin’s material is.

”Then it’s fine, I’ll think about it myself.”

Seeing Su Huan deep in thought, Hu Shuo quietly withdrew.

As the doors closed, Secretary Hu’s steps grew lighter.

The current conductor is becoming more humanlike.

Not like before, always making him anxious; the more humanlike Su Huan becomes, the more stable and promising his role as secretary will be.

But Secretary Hu’s good mood only lasted a moment before being disrupted by some news.

”The next node was attacked?”

”How is the Traveler’s Tree?”

”Relay the details to Captain He, then coordinate with Longxi High-speed Rail for handover, quickly set off for the next node, and meanwhile, enhance protections on all nodes’ Traveler’s Trees. The time wasted in seed cultivation would severely delay our exit from the Plant Zone, thus each Traveler’s Tree must not be lost.”

”Forward this statement as well.”

Hu Shuo pressed a hand to his earpiece and hurried toward the front of the train.
