Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Su Huan frowned and instructed Li Han and the other to apply fertilizer and water.

The Plant Zone never lacks such things.

A large amount of high-energy plants and purified water were poured at the roots of the Crown Pear Tree, which excitedly shook its head.

Several yellow pears swayed along with it.

”What did it say now?”

Su Huan asked again.

Traveler’s Tree: ”Drink water.”

Uncle Xiaoya: ”Eat.”

Su Huan’s facial muscles twitched; is he raising a glutton?

With a wave, he continued feeding.

And asked again.

Uncle Xiaoya hesitated for a moment, ”Drink water.”

Traveler’s Tree, ”Eat...”

Su Huan’s face darkened, and he fed again and asked again.

”Eat.”

”Drink water.”

”Drink water.”

”Eat.”

”...”

The Crown Pear Tree was like a glutton; no matter how much purified water, how much high-density energy was poured in, it remained vibrant and lively.

Even Li Han was stunned. He thought the fertilizer he provided daily to the Crown Pear Tree was sufficient, but it could still consume so much!

Would the conductor think he had mistreated the pear tree?

Thinking of this possibility, the young man suddenly trembled, sweat beaded on his forehead.

”No more.”

Su Huan, filled with frustration, halted the two, directly channeling energy into the Crown Pear Tree, high-density energy engulfed the entire upper space like a tidal wave, even thinning the air due to its pressure.

The Crown Pear Tree stood like a lone boat in the sea, continuously absorbing energy.

Even Su Huan was somewhat shocked at the absorption speed.

Each minute it could absorb two-thousandths of his energy!

This was a tree that hadn’t even reached Tier One.

He had underestimated it.

The color of the Crown Pear Tree trunk deepened, new leaves sprouted on the canopy, accompanied by creaking sounds, the trunk began to rise at one meter per minute, and three green pears formed on the canopy.

After Su Huan infused it with one percent of pure Pan Energy, the Crown Pear Tree finally stopped absorbing, as if reaching some threshold.

Traveler’s Tree shouted, ”Full!”

Uncle Xiaoya, ”Sleep.”

Su Huan, ”Damn it...”

Traveler’s Tree comforted, ”It seems to be about to evolve; you can ask it again after it wakes up.”

Su Huan glanced at the three newly formed pears, not worrying about such trivial matters anymore.

He planned to tidy up and drag back the cow’s carcass; after all, it was a Tier Three Evolution Beast, wasteful to discard.

...

In the carriage, Xiaoya held a cloth, obediently following Yu Yue, gazing longingly at the buns steaming in the pot.

Yu Yue turned off the heat, picked the biggest one, wrapped it in paper, and handed it to Xiaoya.

”Try it, see if it’s tasty.”

Xiaoya looked at the bun in her hand, placed it back on the table, and timidly said, ”Today’s work isn’t finished yet.”

She then turned to wipe the floor, like a diligent little squirrel.

Yu Yue sighed heartily at the well-behaved girl, afraid of being bullied by Su Huan.

Since boarding, she dared not take or touch anything, only after working did she dare eat.

Recalling Xiaoya’s look when Su Huan took the last fruit, Yu Yue’s eyes involuntarily teared up, that...

”Hey, eating buns today?”

Su Huan’s leisurely figure appeared in the dining car, casually picking up the bun on the table.

’Bastard.’

Just as he was about to take a bite, Yu Yue expressionlessly snatched it back and put it in the steamer.

Facing Su Huan’s startled look, she calmly said, ”It’s cold, warmer.”

Su Huan felt the lingering warmth on his fingertips, resignedly sitting back on his sofa, not understanding how he had offended her, but as a conductor, he wouldn’t bicker with a pregnant woman.

Just as he sat down, Xiaozhao quickly entered, greeting Yu Yue first, then sidestepped Xiaoya, who was bent over working, saying, ”Conductor, Ge Mian wants to see you.”

”Not here.”

Su Huan replied without lifting his head or opening his eyes.

”Uh...?”

Xiaozhao was bewildered on the spot.

Su Huan waved his hand, ”I have to go out, let him wait.”

As he finished speaking, his figure already appeared outside the carriage.

Leaving behind a bewildered Xiaozhao.

Only Yu Yue, behind the counter, had a slight smile at the corner of her mouth, muttering ”trickster,” then calling Xiaoya to eat the bun.

...

Su Huan was gone for ten days; the train moved forward three more nodes, with sixteen outposts left to complete the safe corridor.

But with the Traveler’s Tree, the nodes were half built, only needing to clear nearby dangerous species and establish simple outposts.

Among them, a Tier One Traveler’s Tree already attracted many survivors, and with the train consistently advancing, it attracted numerous surviving humans, so they established an armed outpost in the Plant Zone around this Tier One Traveler’s Tree.

Due to limited survivor population, totaling over a thousand, this outpost was the smallest in scale.

No one on the train was willing to stay.

After this period of training, many ”new recruits” emerged from boot camp.

However, this time, aside from the Armed Corps, there was an additional combat group option.

The combat group was severely weakened since the Licking Rabbit was killed, with only about twenty people, barely enough for any task, plus the army system was more perfected, making it difficult to draw from within; all awaited this batch of new recruits to fill positions.

The combat group’s tasks mainly included defending the train and operating the train’s weapons, less dangerous than the Armed Corps, naturally attracting enthusiastic enrollment from the new recruits.

Lao San selected a few, then forcibly took Ding Hui amidst He Jie’s furious yelling.

At this moment, he’s checking people on the train’s roof.

The main residential spaces of the Armed Train’s two levels are four meters and two in height, but after multiple upgrades, the train stands over seven meters tall, with a nearly two-meter gap after deducting layers for water, electricity, communications, and other special installations.

This third level sits atop the train, housing neither people nor storing materials, purely a combat space.

On the roof, electromagnetic railguns, two hundred anti-aircraft guns, drones, and other equipment would drop down for maintenance, and when the locomotive or AI couldn’t operate, the combat group would handle these weapons here.

Besides weapons, other space-consuming equipment was integrated here.

The two-meter space was packed like a massive equipment room.

Usually, only the combat group and rotating maintenance staff could access here.

Fifty soldiers in black combat suits lined up, introducing themselves one by one.

Lao San walked past, hands behind his back, among the crowd.

”Sun Yi, Yuchuan People, Maker, skilled in mechanical maintenance, boarded after the Four Nations War...”

”Feng Mu, Jinfeng People, Tier One ’Trace Expert,’ skilled in reconnaissance, was with Donghuang Heavy Industry...”

Lao San took extra notice of Feng Mu.

The soldier next to him loudly declared, ”Zhao Zilong, Yuchuan People, Tier One ’Lancer’!”

Lao San was startled, giving him a light kick, glaring at him, ”Why are you yelling so loudly? What’s your name?”

The soldier chuckled, ”Reporting to the captain, Zhao Zilong!”

Lao San saw the three-section spear on the kid’s back, brushed his head, and looked skeptically at the surrounding people, ”He’s really called Zhao Zilong?”

The surrounding soldiers helplessly nodded, ”Yes, it’s that Zhao Zilong, and he really uses a spear, a Tier One ’Lancer,’ ranked third in our single combat rankings.”

”Third?”

Lao San was secretly amazed, knowing that a ”Lancer” was an ”Evolver” type using cold weapons.

Tier Two is ”Wandering God,” extremely fierce in close combat.

Back when the Storm Zone first landed, the one fighting Black Kite and evenly matched with Liang Kuan, Golden Kite, was this profession.

This profession ranking only third in single combat—what kind of monsters are in this class?

No wonder when he asked Lao Er, the latter confidently told him to pick with his eyes closed.

Turns out they are all Tier Ones!
