Armed Train in the Apocalypse

He’s seen too many similar situations, so it’s nothing unusual for him anymore.

Su Huan suddenly sensed something was wrong. The mutant plants around him didn’t flee this time; instead, they surged forward!

Although he hadn’t fully extended his Domain, even the most idiotic and memoryless mutant plants would instinctively fear him and stay far away, rather than recklessly walking into danger.

Clearly, something was driving them from behind.

”Hehe...”

Su Huan licked the corner of his mouth, a trace of excited smile flashed across his narrow eyes.

...

Storm Zone, a certain edge town.

The buildings have been ravaged by wind and sand day after day, and the stones in front of the square were battered into a pothole-ridden surface by flying gravel, which bounced off and hit the car barriers with cracking sounds.

”Bang!”

A Sand Armor Beast burst out from the street corner, trampling down the metal car barrier with one foot, staggering forward.

Two muffled noises followed, both precisely hitting the joints of the Sand Armor Beast’s legs. Blood spurted out, and the beast let out a mournful cry, collapsing onto the ground.

A figure clad in a pale green trench coat emerged from the sandstorm, holding a visibly modified shotgun with a barrel as thick as a goose egg.

He walked up to the Sand Armor Beast from behind, loaded the gun, aimed at its lower jaw, and fired.

With a thunderous explosion, the square suddenly rumbled like rolling thunder.

The Sand Armor Beast’s head burst open, creating a basin-sized hole, and it collapsed headfirst.

”Crack.”

The large shell, smoking, rolled away. During the reload, the tactical gear-clad figure’s attire suddenly extended like cautious military garb, covering his long neck and entire face with fibrous structures, creating the outline of a fierce tiger ready to devour.

”Bang!”

A 12.7mm bullet struck the man’s chest.

Amidst the deafening roar, the man was blown backward, the corner of his coat turned into two swirling smoke dragons.

As he passed by an abandoned vehicle, a skinny figure suddenly emerged from underneath, brandishing a dagger aimed straight at his lower back.

As the dagger touched the trench coat, the skinny figure’s eyes widened in surprise. No matter how hard he tried, the dagger wouldn’t penetrate; it was not like cutting through heavy hide—hell, it was more like iron!

This was his strongest attack, capable of piercing even the infamous defensive Tier Two zombies.

The man in front turned his head, his neck long like a dragon’s spine, the fierce tiger face scared the skinny figure who instinctively wanted to retreat. But the man had already turned around, and his clawed hand reached for the skinny figure’s head.

The skinny figure scoffed inwardly and ducked his head to retreat, but to his shock, the man’s hand sprouted five sharp blades, gripping his face tightly. Meanwhile, the right hand had already pressed the shotgun against his stomach.

’It’s over.’

A flash of despair crossed the skinny figure’s mind.

His vision turned black amid the thunderous roar.

The man tossed aside the shattered body from the shotgun blast and rolled swiftly into the nearby building’s shadows, just as a sniper bullet sparked at the spot where he’d been.

”Hold on, I’m almost there!”

The voice of Bai Lu came through the internal communication, steady. Giraffe pressed the fully enclosed helmet of his tactical gear and spat out a mouthful of blood, speaking with fierce determination, ”One o’clock direction, about five hundred meters, there’s a sniper, take him out first!”

”Understood!”

After cutting off communication, Giraffe opened his trench coat to inspect his chest.

The two magazines mounted on his tactical gear were destroyed by the sniper shot, but the gear itself remained intact. He’d just need to replace some tactical components when he returned.

”No wonder it’s the hide of a Tier Three Evolution Beast—damn solid!”

Giraffe sighed with lingering fear. If not for the train conductor equipping them with the military gear before they left, he would have fallen today.

He spat out bloody saliva and treated his wounds with the gear.

Though the gear was fine, it didn’t mean he wasn’t hurt. The sniper rifle hit had shattered his chest bone.

Regular surgery would take at least a week for full recovery. Fortunately, Black Kite’s serum was top-notch; just one injection and he felt much better, performed a few stretching exercises, adjusted the position of his chest bone, and left the rest to heal naturally.

The excess bone fragments would gradually be absorbed by his body, avoiding deformation.

As long as his Life Force was sufficient, his body would gradually return to peak condition—it’s the same reason He Jie, no matter how severely injured, could recover and be full of energy within days.

The sound of car engines roaring outside.

A group of Black Kite soldiers walked in with guns in hand, their expressions tense and observing everywhere.

”Over here, stop searching.”

Giraffe called out; his gear and trench coat were back on, fully covered mode activated.

Tier Three gear has great resistance against Pan Energy; as long as he doesn’t want it removed, no one can take it off him.

A dozen soldiers closed in, some taking out serums, others keeping watch, while some discreetly observed the bloodstains on the ground.

A cold smile spread across Giraffe’s hidden face; he ejected the deformed bullet and said nonchalantly, ”Got hit by a sniper shot, nearly got pierced.”

Everyone was surprised, a few eyes flickered.

Crisp footsteps sounded outside, Giraffe relaxed a bit, looking up to see Bai Lu and her soldiers.

Each had a straight posture, battle gear inside, pale green trench coats outside, and even the most ordinary soldiers had an aura towering at 2.8 meters.

Without a word spoken, the Black Kite soldiers made way.

Bai Lu’s face was solemn, her tiger face mask withdrawn, her calm gaze swept over, making several soldiers with ulterior motives shiver.

”Caught them?”

Giraffe asked.

Bai Lu shook her head, ”By the time we arrived, they’d already fled far.”

”Well, let it be. The sweep mission is done anyway, we’ll report to the secretary-general.”

”Okay.”

The convoy entered the wilderness and drove for hours into a sheltered valley.

Compared to the desolate wastelands outside, the valley was bustling with activity. Various engineering vehicles worked tirelessly, shaping the base.

Giraffe and his group drove straight towards the center, but they were forcibly stopped before reaching their destination.

The leader was a man in his thirties, with sharp features and bright eyes, wearing a shiny silver iris on his collar.

Seeing Giraffe inside the car, someone stepped forward swiftly, ”Commander Wang, this is the lady’s guest, from the Armed Train.”

Commander Wang scanned Giraffe inside the car calmly, ”I’m only following protocol, the lady will understand.”

He stepped forward and knocked on the hood, ”You’ve entered the core area; please disembark for inspection.”

The people brought by Commander Wang immediately surrounded the vehicles.

The Black Kite soldiers hesitated to get out.

The Armed Corps soldiers sat nonchalantly inside, their complete tactical gear with frightening tiger faces watching outside, their weapons ready, awaiting orders.

The overlapping auras of Tier One Evolvers made the surrounding Black Kite soldiers’ faces change subtly.

They had heard that those returning with the lady from the Armed Train were tough, but they didn’t expect them to be so incredibly tough, with the weakest being a Tier One Evolver, comparable to a team leader in special ops.

Inside the vehicle, Giraffe savored the metallic taste in his mouth, already in a bad mood from the shot, and now being picked on hardened his resolve.

With a cold smile, he stepped out, confronting the impersonally upright Commander Wang, ”What’s the meaning? Want to confiscate my gun?”

The fierce aura of a battlefield veteran surged over him.

”After a few days, even the little brats are getting cocky?”

A bold voice sounded from behind, Commander Wang’s men made way, letting a robust man stride forward.

At the sight of him, Giraffe’s face darkened immediately, the golden iris flower on the man’s collar stung him with fury.

The moment the Golden Kite man stepped forward, Giraffe’s aura was overwhelmed.

”What, forgotten the time I hung you two up and beat you?”

The man mocked.

Just as Giraffe raised his hand, his shotgun was pinned down, Bai Lu had already surged past, releasing like a fierce tiger from a cage.
