Armed Train in the Apocalypse

During the battle in Zhijin some time ago, he tried all of his abilities.

Only the combination of lightning and the physical body can unleash a 1+1>2 effect. After testing, in the state of being covered with lightning, his five-dimensional basic attributes will fully reach Tier Two, among which the speed attribute can reach Tier Three. In other words, Su Huan already relies purely on his physical body to reach the level of a Tier Three ”Defender”.

And it’s not the weakest.

After all, not every basic attribute of a Tier Three Evolver reaches Tier Three, only the main attributes affecting their profession advancement get elevated.

In terms of combat power, Liang Kuan, a Tier One Evolver with Tier Two strength attribute, can be referenced. Whether it’s Tier Two Zombies, Evolution Beasts, or humans, they are all overpowered by him, indomitable and unmatched.

Moreover, every time after being covered with lightning, his physical qualities will slightly improve. The coordination of different professional skills is becoming more and more fluent; initially, he had to be distracted by controlling, but now it’s almost thoughtless. Intuition tells him this isn’t the end, and there may be more possibilities for further advancement.

Suddenly, Su Huan, who was deep in thought, looked up ahead, five fingertips instantly burst into electric arcs, spreading seven or eight meters in an instant in the air, capturing a shadow and dragging it to the ground.

The shadow struggled madly on the roof of the train, still trying to attack Su Huan, but as the intensity of the current increased, the shadow stopped struggling.

Looking at the corpse on the ground, Su Huan was slightly surprised.

The shadow was a pigeon that hadn’t evolved; its size was no different from before the apocalypse. Upon close inspection, a bluish mycelium pattern could be seen wrapped around its body, like a fungus carpet enveloping the entire bird. It was precisely due to the manipulation of the mushrooms that this long-dead body could still appear lively and fresh.

Subconsciously, Su Huan looked at his left hand, where a similar fungal net was also present on the back of his hand. However, the coverage area was small, only spreading across the wrist and hand back, like a half-finger glove, and because of its flesh color, it was very difficult to detect without paying close attention.

This was a part of the fungal carpet splitting for maintaining communication, but the duration was short, requiring a return to the main body every day to recover energy.

Surpassing a kilometer, the mycelium would wither.

”Master, we have entered the territory of the Corpse Mushroom, but my mushroom army needs at least ten minutes to catch up with the train.”

The voice of the fungal carpet directly appeared in his heart.

”No problem.”

Su Huan said calmly.

The Tianze Alumni Association was initially a force in the Gravity Zone but later moved to the Spore Zone under Ma Hongyu’s leadership. Therefore, the base was also established in the north, now occupied by the Corpse Mushroom in front.

The biggest characteristic of this mushroom is preservation and manipulation, and the fungal carpet of the Corpse Mushroom has acquired skills in military command direction, leading to the Corpse Mushroom adding a strict discipline in its fearless stance, its combat effectiveness even surpassing that of a Lord-commanded horde of zombies of the same level.

After all, the Lord can only command zombies to attack or retreat on a large scale, similar to ancient armies. Yet the fungal carpet can shrink its command to every individual, its precision surpassing any command system, often achieving complete annihilation of other mushrooms several times its number with minimal forces.

This left Ma Hongyu, a Tier Two Evolver, at his wits’ end, with several close encounters.

Thus, sought cooperation with the foreign train.

”Conductor, a large number of high-energy reactions have appeared ahead. According to the information provided by Ma Hongyu, it’s presumed to be the entrance to the Corpse Mushroom territory, numbering around eight thousand, with one-tenth at Tier One and over fifty at Tier Two.”

The voice of the glasses appeared.

”Hmm, reduce the speed of the train.”

Su Huan ordered.

Hearing this command, the glasses paused a bit, even though he thought the best response now was to maintain speed and rush through, he still delivered the order without any discounts.

Su Huan on the roof also stopped inputting electricity into the train, the electric light at the train’s pointed head extinguished, and the mushroom forest instantly became deep.

Only the low roar of the engine could be heard.

In a state of oppression, two green glowing points appeared, followed by thousands of light spots, large and small, like a sack surrounding the train.

Ahead, two mountain-like Tier Two Butchers appeared under the train’s headlights.

Still with a fat belly, only the skin turned grayer, and the cunning and fierce little eyes became dull, holding dried mushroom sticks in their hands, like two gatekeepers.

But Su Huan seemed unaware of the tense situation before him, questioning the fungal carpet in his heart about the details of the digestion period.

Fungal Carpet: ”The digestion period doesn’t directly target the fungal carpet, but without the protection of a fungal colony, the fungal carpet can be stripped of the ’Stone of Enlightenment’ by other fungal carpets, then gradually wither, or be assimilated and swallowed by the big fungal carpet underfoot.”

Su Huan: ”The Big Fungus Carpet is conscious?”

The fungal carpet on the back of his hand inflated twice like breathing, ”Yes, but not as clearly as us. I tried contacting the Big Fungus Carpet, but its consciousness was so chaotic, full of disjointed information, that I was almost assimilated, so I dared not contact the Big Fungus Carpet again. I guess the last fungal carpet died like this, allowing me to take over the blank Stone of Enlightenment.”

Su Huan looked down, suddenly thinking of the stone in Professor Ma’s laboratory.

Obtained from the Flood Zone altar, it has an energy amplification effect and has now almost become the core ”hardware” of train communications; the reason for connecting to gunfire is also this stone.

At the beginning, he thought it was a coincidence of nature, but now it appears there might be some connection.

Inside the train, He Jie and others have already donned Power Armor and lined up in the armory, but they have not yet received any instructions from the conductor, and the reconnaissance drones had been withdrawn, with only a few observing outside, one of which was focused on the conductor.

Watching the picture of the motionless Su Huan, He Jie walked circles at the train’s head.

Just as he was about to inquire, he saw the conductor casually snap his fingers.

All monitoring instruments inside the train began to sound incessantly.

Although they couldn’t hear any sound through the train, He Jie felt as if the world had shattered for a moment, followed by a white light, endless white light surged out from the mushroom forest in front of the train, overshadowing the train’s bright headlights, shredding numerous giant umbrella mushrooms and the puppets controlled by the Corpse Mushroom.

There was no warning or room to retaliate, all the outlines of objects began to blur.

The white light was getting closer and faster, so fast that his neural reflex couldn’t keep up.

As he watched the two Tier Two Zombies ahead of the train instantly torn into a bloodstorm, He Jie suddenly realized something was wrong, his eyes widened, ”Get down!”

The voice echoed layer by layer inside the car compartment, like a tiger’s roar. It startled everyone into trembling, and those who reacted quickly followed suit by lying down.

”Boom——”

Hundreds of tons of the train’s head began to shake continuously, the parts at the connections of the carriage issued intense friction, like a giant shaking the train’s body outside, high-frequency strong vibrations flung everything not firmly secured out.

He Jie cursed and turned in the shaking train head, grabbing the researchers thrown without a foothold, pushing them under the table.

To prevent these fragile and valuable researchers from being accidentally killed by the conductor.

In Car 3, Wan Xing, nestled on a reclining chair watching old anime, suddenly lifted his glasses, scanned the carriage, found all materials hanging securely on the walls, and contentedly caught the drink floating at his side, muttering about the lack of new anime, while finding a more comfortable posture for himself.

In Lab 9, Zhou Qing, discussing mech improvement plans, suddenly raised his head in shock. Next to him, Tan Yunxi screamed as he made a flying rush to catch escaping parts. Preoccupied with the Power Armor, he found no leverage, and seeing the exoskeleton dangling before him, he shouted in panic. Once he regained his senses, he had already been dragged back by Dean Zhou.

In Auxiliary Car 10, what was originally a concealed small laboratory had its operation table turned from one to three.

On the left and right lay two puppets with terrifying auras, while the central operation table was the quietest, immersing a woman in honey-colored nutrient fluid.

The woman had a tall, slender figure, gracefully full. Her skin was as delicate as cream.

Every curve seemed like the perfect masterpiece of a top artistic master, sensual yet elegant.

When the vibrations reached here, ripples spread in the nutrient fluid, the vibrations grew more intense, the viscous nutrient fluid leaped up and was pulled back again.

The woman opened her sculpted phoenix eyes silently, her fair and lustrous fingertips resting on the table’s edge.

”Indeed, modifying oneself is the fastest way to evolve.”
