Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Wei Mountain repeatedly simulated various outcomes in his mind. Suddenly, a sudden brake from the off-road vehicle interrupted his thoughts, and he opened his eyes to look ahead.

Several vehicles with a clear modified style roared past in front, packed with armed soldiers. People also stood on the car roofs, their sharp eyes briefly scanning the Deep Blue convoy.

The driver explained, ”Looks like the armed train troops are returning to the city, occupying the road.”

”Let them pass, don’t create trouble.”

After speaking, Wei Mountain pushed open the car door and got out. Several people also stepped down from the other vehicles, standing beside Wei Mountain, each exuding deep and sharp auras, clearly three Tier Two Evolvers.

For this capture, Wei Mountain brought all his resources.

After the vanguard of the armed train quickly passed, the ”coach battle vehicle” followed, transformed from dismantled train carriages, equipped with independent kinetic systems, defense comparable to the train itself. Each battle vehicle dragged a huge trailer behind, piled with zombie corpses.

Terrifyingly, the minimum level of these corpses was Tier One.

When vehicles dragging Tier Two zombies appeared, the three calm Tier Two Powerhouses grew tense.

The trailers continued one after another, seemingly without end, and Wei Mountain’s expression changed, ”How many?”

A hooded man’s gaze flickered, ”Six heads, and all are Butchers!”

The horde couldn’t possibly contain only one type of zombie; Butchers are usually surrounded by a large number of Night Demons, implying more Tier Two zombies will follow.

As if confirming their speculation, the Butchers on the trailers turned into Tier Two Night Demons and Tier Two Hunters.

These zombies are small in size, so a few vehicles can carry them, but their quantity still made their hearts heavy.

Deep Blue Data does have combat departments, but to obtain such perfectly preserved corpses, they could only wear them down with small firearms; even over a week, they couldn’t kill such a number of Tier Two zombies.

Once a horde reaches a certain number, a qualitative change occurs.

With insufficient hard power, relying solely on firearm attacks can easily lead to large-scale defeat.

Judging by the spoils, the train is better at combating zombie tides, or perhaps has more evolved strong individuals.

Either scenario will increase the difficulty of their next task.

”But their soldiers don’t seem very high-quality.”

Another Tier Two Evolver in combat gear couldn’t help but voice doubt.

At that moment, an armed troop carrier passed by an intersection, a man and a woman standing on its roof speaking. The man holding a sniper rifle suddenly glanced at them, sand and wind swept past, gray-green hem fluttering.

The woman beside him also looked over solemnly, her golden eyes brimming with beast-like ferocity.

Wei Mountain felt like needles pricked his eyes, couldn’t help but squint.

”Tier One Sniper, Tier One Beastification Defender, just decent.”

The Tier Two in combat gear stepped forward, blocking the view for Wei Mountain, said calmly.

When the Officer Corps led by He Jie appeared, the expressions of the three Tier Two changed.

That iron-and-blood hardened aura swept over with impunity, carried the overwhelming smell of gunpowder, as if placing them on the front line of a battlefield, their bodies stimulated with killing intent, blood boiling.

Although some of these individuals weren’t highly evolved, none could be overlooked.

Like the burly man sitting on the side, his murderous aura as thick as an ancient general who besieged cities, brutal and fierce; another man chewing a cigarette with a restrained murderous intent, a mere slip made people feel the blade at their neck; the young man with fiery pupils standing beside, clearly a Tier Two Evolver.

None of them are easy opponents.

”Three Tier Two from Deep Blue Data.” Lin Jin said coldly, ”Should we manage them?”

He Jie glanced at those few, exhaled smoke, ”Probably here for the auction, according to Old Hu they’re all patrons. If you drive them away and the conductor lashes out, don’t blame me for not warning you.”

”Then forget it.”

Lin Jin scratched his head; the conductor left too deep an impression on him, instead of easing with evolution, it grew heavier every time.

Once the entire armed train convoy passed, only then did they exhale deeply.

The hooded man sighed, ”A bunch of killers!”

Wei Mountain’s face grew darker, ”Act low-key according to plan.”

The three dispersed, leaving Wei Mountain to board a car heading to the auction venue.

...

Chenxi Square, second-floor restaurant.

Hundreds of shops gathered nearly all businesses possible post-apocalypse, naturally not omitting basic dining.

Though pricey, still attracted many for a taste, residents occasionally coming to improve meals.

A young man sat in a corner, leisurely rotating a teacup, savoring tea aroma.

Hair slightly long, brushing shoulders, narrow bright eyes, at a glance resembling the conductor, but shoulders narrower, height slightly shorter, aura sharper, more delicate.

”Are you crazy, meeting me in a place like this?”

Across sat a woman almost completely wrapped in clothes, even eyes hidden by sunglasses, looking more suspicious compared to the man.

”The most dangerous place is the safest; finding a secluded spot would be suspicious, plus the train will definitely enhance monitoring on those areas.”

The man chuckled and said,

”Well, well...”

The woman’s voice faltered.

The man put down the teacup, waved his hand, ”Those aren’t important; mainly you, still loyal to the organization?”

The woman seemed provoked, reflexively replied, ”Of course, but isn’t acting now too reckless, so many people...”

The woman seemed to have a long tail, speaking while uneasily shifting.

”Deep Blue Data sent three Tier Two Evolvers to Zhijin, they will help us attract the conductor’s attention——”

The man suddenly paused, waited for the waiter to serve food, then continued, ”Talk as we eat, some dishes aren’t available at the company.”

But the woman showed no interest in eating, questioned, ”Isn’t Deep Blue Data uninvolved in actions against the train?”

”Specifically unclear, perhaps related to Genetic Primordial, maybe some other actions.”

”What if they don’t act?”

The man across stuffed food in his mouth, smiled deeply, ”Then I’ll report them.”

The woman trembled, fell silent.

Then as if recalled something, ”Will it be just me alone?”

”Only you, as I’m currently untrusted, monitored too closely.”

”But don’t worry, I’ll assist from the shadows; once everything is done, you can return to the company.”
