Armed Train in the Apocalypse

’Tianze University Alumni Association?’

’Ma Hongyu?’

Lin Jin found both terms somewhat unfamiliar. Even though he had delved into the list of major forces under Donghuang Heavy Industry, it was a list that had been updated numerous times and did not include any organization known as the alumni association.

Lin Jin’s hesitation was keenly picked up by the other party.

”You don’t know me? Strange, you can’t be from a minor force. Even top forces find it hard to construct such an extravagant train, and you also know those proud Black Kites. Could you be from a newly emerged major force? It’s impressive; within a year, you’ve evolved a complete industry. Could it be that the area outside is all a safe zone?”

Ma Hongyu’s self-talk showed no intention of avoidance, making Lin Jin sweat. A brief pause had allowed the other party to infer so much information.

However, the other party should not have been outside for a long time, resulting in some discrepancies regarding external information.

”Stall him, we’ve identified several suspicious locations.”

Mountain Goat said inside the power armor communication.

Lin Jin said, ”You can come out first, let’s have a proper talk.”

Ma Hongyu’s voice sounded somewhat resigned. ”I’m open to talks, but isn’t it disrespectful for you to conspire loudly in front of me?”

The sudden voice in Lin Jin’s ear caused alarm, as it wasn’t being transformed through the ambient sound collector next to him but was directly appearing in his ear!

Listening to the voice coming from the communication device, Mountain Goat’s expression grew serious. The train moved northward continuously battling, and Yu Yue’s evolutionary ability contributed greatly.

It’s precisely because of Yu Yue’s presence that the train rarely faced communication breakdowns or command chaos, even forces like the Steel Council and Black Kite had to find ways to suppress Yu Yue before initiating warfare. Smaller forces would simply be crushed entirely.

He Jie and the others privately discussed countermeasures, unless Yu Yue was isolated, overwhelmed with superior force, otherwise, they couldn’t win.

The influence of sound manipulators on warfare is immense.

Mountain Goat asked gravely, ”What do you want?”

”Is your leader still not coming out?”

Mountain Goat said, ”I am the train conductor. You can talk to me.”

Ma Hongyu sighed lightly. ”It’s just been a long time since I’ve seen people, so I am a bit talkative, but it doesn’t mean I’m stupid. From your earlier reference to ’us’, it’s clear several people of equal status to you are on this train, yet a mobile carrier like this can’t operate as a council, so there can be only one train conductor. But you are stalling here, making it obvious the conductor isn’t on board. Well, you two are also considered the higher-ups; talking to you is fine. I am looking to seek cooperation.”

Mountain Goat, while speaking, kept an eye on the battlefield on the screen. The train, relying on its flames, pressed the mushroom army into submission. Several green dots were searching through the map, checking suspicious locations in sequence. The furthest dot lost connection due to distance.

”What cooperation?”

”As a token of sincerity, I can tell you some information for free. Currently, you’re in the territory of Ghost Umbrella Mushrooms. Your current battle is merely against their production mushrooms. The reason their numbers are so scarce is due to their battle mushrooms currently engaging with Red-Hair Mushrooms, but they will soon head your way. Though Tier One battle mushrooms may not breach the train’s defenses, they can massively alter the landscape, leaving your train stuck here. I’m uncertain how much supplies you’ve stocked...”

”Huh, how did you find me?”

”Wait a moment, don’t move!”

”I’m chatting with your conductor.”

”Little girl, you’ve overstepped the mark, I’m a Tier Two Evolver!”

”If you dare, put down your gun!”

Hearing the man’s frightened voice, Mountain Goat and Lin Jin let out a heavy sigh. That’s what you get for showing off!

...

Amidst the mushroom forest,

A man with a mushroom cap comically raised his hands and walked forward. He wore a work shirt that seemed to be dug up from the earth, adorned with large patches of moss, almost growing with the shirt.

He spoke rapidly as he walked.

”Young lady, this power armor is quite decent. Judging by the model, it’s not of military design. Is it something you developed yourselves? Utilizing evolutionary materials? What’s its endurance like? I notice your barrel caliber seems a bit large. Is it 12.7? Such ammunition consumes storage heavily. If I were to develop, I’d surely remove such cumbersome elements...”

The soldier wearing power armor did not answer any questions, only silently nudging Ma Hongyu to approach the train.

Her way of urging him was rather unique; whenever Ma Hongyu lost his direction, she would raise the power armor’s arm. With the help of Truth, he could always precisely find the correct direction.

Though Ma Hongyu’s attire was peculiar, he was indeed a genuine Tier Two.

Just after passing through a purple-spore-emitting mushroom, Ma Hongyu remained unaffected as he moved through.

The soldier’s cold eyes locked onto him relentlessly. Should Ma Hongyu attempt escape, she was ready to empty the 720 rounds of 12.7mm bullets in the ammunition chamber.

Ma Hongyu attempted a few times, realizing the other’s energy was tightly focused on him, completely dispelling thoughts of fleeing. Whether facing Tier One Evolvers or heavy machine guns, he could manage, even if both were combined. But this was power armor worn by the soldier, attacks were executed just by lifting an arm.

Unless he could strike a fatal blow instantly, even a slight mistake would result in being torn apart by a violent stream of metal.

At such close proximity, even Tier Two Evolvers were gambling their lives, especially as he quickly discovered the power armor housed a ”Defender,” whose nerve reaction and abnormal status resistance were far superior to his kind, the ”Manipulator.”
