Armed Train in the Apocalypse

For my son to have achieved what he has now.

She was very happy.

Jiang Rong picked up the army-green backpack by her side and directly pushed the door open to enter the cockpit.

The RV driver, who had been quietly driving, tensed up the instant she came in. His whole body went rigid, his eyes glued to the rearview mirror, watching Jiang Rong walk step by step to the passenger seat and sit down, sweat soaking through his back.

”Watch the road.”

Jiang Rong reminded him.

”Oh, oh...”

The driver fumbled with the steering wheel in a panic and almost sent the motorcyclist following them flying.

”Training on the train must’ve been rough, huh.”

The driver froze in his seat, only snapping out of it when the car behind them honked a reminder.

He didn’t even dare look at Jiang Rong’s face, only seeing his own ashen eyes in the rearview mirror.

”...Captain.”

Jiang Rong shifted her backpack a bit, finding a comfortable position. ”Zhang Yi, this isn’t the train, you can use a different title.”

”Sister Rong... are you here to drag me back?”

The driver’s voice grew even weaker; this one-eighty-tall guy was like a mouse in front of a cat when facing Jiang Rong.

Because he was one of the two soldiers who’d run away back then.

Jiang Rong shook her head gently. ”It’s over already. Old Wu was punished by the Conductor, beaten into mince.”

At the mention of Old Wu, the driver’s face twitched, his eyes full of shock. ”He’s dead?”

”Died miserably. After that, no one ever abused their subordinates again.”

The driver’s eyes went blank; he opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say for a long while.

Suddenly he blurted, ”Then you... is the train planning to make a move on the convoys?”

”What are you thinking? I’ve already left the Armed Train. It’s not that complicated, I just had to tell the Conductor.” Jiang Rong’s eyes showed a hint of emotion. ”I’ll never see the train again in this life. From now on I’m just going to stay by Ah Long’s side. Oh, Ah Long is the leader of the Black Star Convoy and my son.”

Zhang Yi’s gaze grew complicated. ”Congratulations, Sister Rong.”

...

Because there were only a few main roads leading to Zhijin and the distance wasn’t far, the Black Kite Convoy just followed behind.

As one of the top four, the Black Kite Convoy wasn’t even as large in scale as Black Star, with only a dozen or so vehicles, but whether in equipment and vehicles, or in the mental state of their personnel, they were far beyond what Black Star and the like could compare to.

Precisely because of this, Black Kite could sit firmly in the top seat of the Four with only the tip of its strength showing above the surface.

Inside the vehicle, Bao Qingqing was wearing a black tactical suit, sitting on the chair with her legs crossed, her thighs overlapping and squeezing out a seductive curve.

The special service personnel in the vehicle would sneak a glance now and then at this adopted daughter of Board Member No. 2.

In the Battle of Yanbei Pass, the one who suffered the most wasn’t Board Member No. 3, Mr. Shu, but Board Member No. 2, who had even disappeared himself.

Bao Qingqing had lost her protection completely, not even getting the chance to wave the tiger skin anymore.

But she was very smart and had foreseen all of this long ago. Before things could ferment, she maneuvered herself into a position in the Special Service Department. It was only a Copper Kite rank, but it barely gave her some self-protection.

But it was only barely.

”I made an extra cup of hand-brewed coffee. Interested in a taste?”

A young man with a Silver Kite badge pinned to his collar walked over, holding a porcelain-white coffee cup. No matter how much the vehicle jolted, there was no sign of it spilling.

His heterochromatic eyes fell on Bao Qingqing’s curvy figure, his greed completely unmasked.

”No, Deputy Xing, I’m not sleepy right now.”

Bao Qingqing’s calm face was frosted over.

”No, what I meant is you can take a rest. I can keep an eye on these small things.”

Deputy Xing tentatively placed his hand on Bao Qingqing’s shoulder.

He could only touch the cold attachments on the tactical suit, but that feeling of nearly touching power got him excited. It was a feeling no other woman could give him; not pre-apocalypse female celebrities, nor the female subordinates assigned to him by the Company could give him as strong a sense of conquest as Bao Qingqing’s status did.

This was a true noble!

Even at the end of the world, she could still maintain her quality of life and hold onto her political status—a golden phoenix.

If Board Member No. 2 hadn’t disappeared, a woman like Bao Qingqing would never have fallen into his reach.

Not even the pleasure from playing those dozens of surviving women to death could compare to this one touch of Bao Qingqing!

”I’m going to check on the convoy’s progress.”

Bao Qingqing abruptly stood up and headed toward the front of the vehicle.

A mere Silver Kite—when her mother was still around, trash like him wouldn’t even dare lift his head speaking to her!

Now she could only tactfully reject him.

She couldn’t even say a harsh word.

And Deputy Xing was already one of the easiest ”problems” she had to deal with.

But Deputy Xing still followed close behind her.

Bao Qingqing buried her disgust deep in her eyes, subconsciously thinking of the figure who’d caused her to fall this far.

That domineering Conductor sitting in the middle of the Thunder Pool.

Her emotions churned inside, but it wasn’t hatred; it was a kind of indescribable shock and dread.

”Is the Armed Train still staying in Xinma County now?”

Bao Qingqing asked.

”Just a dying worm. Why do you care about him?”

Deputy Xing said with disdain.

Bao Qingqing’s mouth twitched. A dying worm?

She wished she could drag this idiot back into the scene in her memory and let him experience firsthand the Fear of facing the Conductor!

”According to intel, the Armed Train already left Xinma County today and is heading toward a Neutral Town, with the goal of attending the Scavenger Market.”

A staffer reported.

Deputy Xing flicked his crisp collar and smiled faintly. ”The Armed Train refused to participate in the Base City Project. What a pity, I really wanted to see what the Conductor looks like.”

Bao Qingqing’s pretty face flushed with anger; she wanted nothing more than to strangle this idiot.

Seeing what he thought was a shy look on Bao Qingqing’s face, he grew even more pleased with himself. ”Too bad we won’t see him in the future...”

”If we won’t see him in the future, then it’s not too late to see him now.”

A mocking voice appeared out of thin air in the carriage.

Hearing that familiar voice, Bao Qingqing’s head felt like it had been struck by lightning. In an instant, it went completely blank.

The coffee cup in Deputy Xing’s hand also fell to the floor. He cursed angrily, ”Trash, didn’t you turn on the jamming device?!”

The staff scrambled with their controls, the entire carriage descending into chaos.

Feeling the vehicle slow down, Deputy Xing drew his gun and cursed, ”Why are we stopping? A single line scared you into stopping?!”

”It’s the convoy up front that stopped.”

Bao Qingqing snapped back to her senses, her expression complicated.

The vehicles behind, not knowing what had happened, honked in annoyance, with some people sticking their heads out and shouting curses.

The Jinfeng Peak Convoy’s off-road vehicles cut in from small side roads off the main route. Before Old Xie could open his mouth to question anything, he noticed his four Tier One earth wolves all staring straight ahead toward the front of the convoy.

”Wooo——”

A horn blast like a whale’s call crushed all the other noises beneath it.

As if the background volume had been turned down.

A colossal behemoth, eight or nine meters tall and sixteen meters wide, manifested in the sandstorm, its treads clanking forward across the entire street. The Black Star Convoy’s vehicles bolted in panic toward the buildings on both sides, some smashing directly into the structures, causing a chain of car wrecks.

But that was already considered lucky.

The vehicles crushed under the treads could only give off a crunchy, grinding wail.

In the moment Jiang Rong hesitated, the Tier One Evolvers of the Black Star, Fuyuan, and Jinfeng Peak convoys had already rushed out.

”Is the Armed Train declaring war on all the forces in Zhijin?”

A burly bald man stood on a car roof, shouting angrily at the Armed Train.

The Jinfeng Peak chairman glanced at him and, seeing it was the spokesman for the Fuyuan Convoy, pressed down Old Xie, who’d been about to shout back.

Signaling him to wait and see.

”Declaring war?”

As this puzzled voice rang out, everyone suddenly noticed that the omnipresent sandstorm seemed to weaken a lot, then died down completely within seconds!

The several hundred meters around the main road of Zhixing cleared in an instant.

Only then did everyone see a black figure crouched on the train’s front, black long hair casually gathered behind his head.

A heavy, almost liquid pressure crashed down, making everyone instantly suffocate.
