Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 464: Chapter 295: Going Home (2)

”Would you dare to go if the train hasn’t left?”

Li Xinlong said in a deep voice, ”I’ve also checked their background, regular people who just became Evolvers, with good equipment. Even if the armed train is slightly better than them overall, can it all be at the same Tier One? In the end, it’s still a shootout, within a few hundred meters, his good gun can kill, and mine that’s a bit worse can’t kill?”

”At most, I’ll assign three people per gun, pile them up till they’re dead.”

”I heard from Black Kite’s people that they’re called Tier One Evolvers.”

”Just a title, what’s the difference.”

The woman frowned, ”Didn’t those deserters say? The train conductor is a Tier Two Evolver, and as long as there are more than ten Tier One Evolvers on the train, with Black Star’s power, they can’t possibly defeat the current train.”

Li Xinlong’s face turned fierce, ”Evolvers aren’t immune to bullets. With my current strength, facing five guns I’d still die. Tier Two is strong, but I don’t believe he alone can handle several hundred guns of mine.”

”By then, just find two snipers to target him, even if he’s a deity he won’t escape.”

The woman was completely speechless, wanting to tell him that people aren’t the same, but at this stage, aside from making him angrier, there was nothing she could do, so she swallowed her frustration.

Anyway, Black Star doesn’t really have any chance of encountering the train.

...

The noise faded away, Jiang Rong stood by the window leaning against the wall.

Only after ensuring no vehicles passed did she cautiously peek out, activating Level 5 ”Energy Conversion,” a dim glow appeared outside the window like flickering fireflies.

Though faint, it was enough with her evolved vision.

Using various reconnaissance techniques she learned in the brigade, ensuring no one was there, Jiang Rong quickly packed her backpack inside the room, pushed out a motorcycle from behind the house, and rode away.

In such large-scale migration, predators will surely follow.

By then, the survivors lagging on both sides will suffer.

She’d seen too much of this on the train, so she certainly wouldn’t take chances.

If their target is Zhijin, there’s no place to stay along the way; might as well stay up all night and head straight home.

Just as Jiang Rong left, a pair of scarlet ghostly fires wobbled toward the house.

Silent claws pierced the concrete road, sniffing at the house, suddenly standing upright against the window, dense clusters of eyes between its rib gaps stared inside.

Unfortunately, it couldn’t see any appetizing food.

The sound of rumbling vibrations had already started coming from behind.

The disappointed Tier One Night Demon was about to leave when a massive hand forcibly pushed its skeletal frame, smashing the window, as the Butcher shoved his hefty head, reminiscent of Maitreya Buddha, into the window, holding an unknown makeshift electric rod.

”Beep beep...”

A faint sound drew their attention, and clearly feeling it underfoot, the Butcher couldn’t find where it came from after looking for a long time.

A slender silver line on the broken window frame reflected the flashing red light from the window base.

”Boom——”

Hearing the explosion, Jiang Rong estimated the distance, her eyelids twitching slightly.

She initially planned to clear her backpack.

Who knew He Jie packed such a punch?

Twisting the throttle, quietly following the convoy ahead.

Halfway through, Jiang Rong found a small path to bypass the convoy, heading northeast.

Her home is 100 kilometers east of Zhijin City in Changxing County, while they are now on the main road from south to north directly towards Zhijin.

Although leaving the convoy might encounter some dangers, it avoids many troubles of exposed interactions.

Looking at the familiar buildings on both sides, memories surged like quilted feathers under a pillow.

A mere half-year felt like half a century had passed.

Some places were so worn by sandstorms she barely recognized them.

Even the shapes of her son and husband seemed blurry, leaving only a vague shadow.

Her home is in a residential area by an intersection, the alley below lined with shops, but only a couple of corner breakfast shops still have bustling business, the rest change every half year, now...

It was meaningless.

Jiang Rong looked towards the sixth-floor balcony, no light visible.

Though she expected this, she couldn’t help but check.

Running over an ordinary zombie, the motorcycle spun and stopped inside the yard.

”Rip——”

A sudden sharp crackling erupted on the rooftop.

A nonhuman tall silhouette leapt from the roof towards the woman in the yard.

Jiang Rong didn’t fire the gun, instead, she fumbled a pea-sized metal cone out of her pocket, aiming towards the leaper, a ghostly blue lightning appeared from void, the metal cone sounded a tearing in the air, the palm bounced high.

”Bang!——Boom!”

The leaper smashed into the ground like a heap of rotten mud, limbs flying about.

In her first-time using this trick, Jiang Rong raised an eyebrow in surprise; she hit precisely, but this was a Tier One Zombie, and she actually one-shotted it.

The noise alarmed the ”residents” in the community, several ordinary zombies crawled out from corners.

Jiang Rong wasted no more time, pulling out a gun to deal with zombies, slinging her backpack over, heading towards the second unit in the corner.

Although alone, every tactical move was extremely standard, not a bit lazy.

In this moment, the woman transformed into a formidable Captain of the armed train.

Surprisingly for her, all the way up to the sixth floor, Jiang Rong didn’t see any zombies.

Even the rampantly growing mutant plants showed signs of cleaning, igniting a faint hope within her.

Looking at the fingerprint lock on the front door, Jiang Rong took a deep breath, placing her hand upon it.
