Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Outside an abandoned neighborhood in Xinma County.

A girl wearing a white dress and a green jacket gently knocked on the door.

”Excuse me, is anyone there?”

Inside the messy room, a scavenger who just finished eating a compressed biscuit soaked in water was pondering how to scam some more supplies from the train tomorrow. Such a fat sheep is hard to come by, so he must make more while they’re still around.

The scavenger was momentarily taken aback when he heard the crisp voice of a woman outside the door.

A woman?

And a young woman’s voice?

Must be because I’ve rewarded myself too much recently, leading to hallucinations.

How could a young woman possibly come to the edge of the county this late at night?

There are only zombies and beasts here, and scavengers like us who are worse than beasts. Even the chickens protected by the convoy wouldn’t come out here for business.

The scavenger rolled over, with his left foot pressing on his right, indulging himself.

How long has it been since he’s touched a woman since his wife died?

More than half a month, probably.

The last woman, she was too old and scrawny.

Once he scams some supplies tomorrow, he plans to find a woman to relax properly.

”Knock knock!”

The knocking came again, and the scavenger’s bloodshot eyes suddenly widened.

There really is a woman!

A reaction rose both below and in his throat at the same time.

The scavenger cautiously made his way to the door, peering outside.

There, he saw a well-behaved and serene girl standing at the entrance, so clean that it made him feel as if he’d returned to times before the apocalypse.

Back then, he would have opened the door and asked, puzzled yet kindly, ”Miss, who are you looking for?”

But the stench lingering in his nostrils and the saliva in his mouth reminded him clearly he was in the apocalypse.

All he could think of now was pulling the clean girl inside, to bed first and then to the pot!

The girl raised her fair arm again to knock.

The scavenger’s hand quietly crept towards the doorknob.

Just as he prepared to fling the door open, the girl suddenly stopped and smiled coyly into the peephole, ”I knew it was here!”

”Boom!”

A tremendous collapse shook the entire building.

In the scavenger’s dazed sight, a young man in a specially made trench coat entered, his eyes brimming with metallic shades.

”Lieutenant of the Armed Corps, Qi Xiaobai.”

”How much was it again...” Xiaoba unfolded a piece of paper and read it formally, ”Principal plus interest, it totals to thirty cans of 340g luncheon meat, forty packs of 200g compressed biscuits, and thirty bottles of 550ml clean water. Please return them immediately, or I will resort to coercive measures.”

To ensure his persuasiveness, all the metals in the room were twisted by Xiaoba into thick steel bars, woven into a cage that enclosed the scavenger perfectly.

Meanwhile, a clear voice rang in everyone’s ears throughout Xinma County.

”I am Major Yu Yue of the Armed Train. All forces and individuals are to return the illegally acquired supplies before sunset. The list is too long, so I won’t elaborate here. We will visit each place to ensure the interests of the train aren’t harmed.”

The clear voice was wrapped in a layer of warmth, like velvet brushed by sunlight, yet it sent cold sweat down many people’s backs.

But more people immediately understood what the gunfire outside represented.

The words ”Armed Train” were engrained deep into everyone’s mind by the gentle voice at this moment.

Qu Hang, standing on the rooftop, listened for a moment, then turned his head and shot down their only Tier One Evolver with one bullet. The piercing sound carried a cold voice across the entire camp.

”Armed Train, Major Qu Hang, here to collect debts.”

...

It wasn’t just forces like Guangli and Da Guang.

All who had scammed the Armed Train, be it multi-person forces or individual scavengers, all were visited by the Armed Corps as long as they were in Xinma County.

After sunset, Xinma County was not dark; rather, it was exceptionally bright.

While some minor forces were still hesitating, two of the three large convoys had already been pushed back.

Two camps were half cleared.

A swift figure maneuvered through the camp, and before ordinary evolvers could react, they saw a flash of silver, and the only sound left before death was the roar of a lion.

He wasn’t particularly fast, not even keeping up with the nearby close-combat ”Defenders,” nor showing the casual elegance of gunslingers in movies.

He had six pistols in total: two under his armpits, two at his waist, and two on his legs. The Ming Lion’s magazine capacity was nine shots, totaling only fifty-four bullets with all six guns.

He needed to constantly repeat the actions of firing and changing magazines.

Yet these ordinary actions were accelerated countless times, to the point the sound of magazines hitting the ground and the slide being racked formed a sort of rhythm.

The precise, steady actions sharply contrasted with the frenzied leap of the Ming Lion’s muzzle.

The violent recoil transmitted from his fingertips to his arms, spreading through his body. At the peak of ”Dynamic Calibration,” Lu Xiao could even sense each subtle difference in the Ming Lion’s roars,

’Variations in gunpowder load’

’A weight discrepancy of two grams between the guns’

’A ridge in the right barrel’s rifling’

”...”

In an instant, insights surged into his mind.

He even felt as if he could swap parts on another gun in the midst of shooting!

That mastery over the limits of firearms sent his spirits soaring to the extreme.

The skills ”Combat Factors,” ”Dynamic Calibration,” and ”Overload Shooting” intertwined in the vibration, resulting in Lu Xiao’s firing rate doubling once more.

One man’s suppressive force surpassed that of three ”Firepower Hands”!

”Combat Factors” endowed him with formidable combat prowess, ”Dynamic Calibration” brought his firearm perception to its pinnacle, enhancing his shooting accuracy, and ”Overload Shooting” pushed the combined effects of the two skills to their peak.
