Armed Train in the Apocalypse

”This gun has a magazine that holds five bullets, but it can’t be detached.”

The Boss pointed at the black box on the gun’s body.

Su Huan took the bullet, sensing the residual energy fluctuations on it, thinking it must have undergone some physical changes using abilities.

Pressing the bullets into the gun one by one, Su Huan raised the rifle and aimed at the target right in front, ”I remember you were always researching pistols; why the sudden shift to old-fashioned rifles?”

The Boss stepped back a few steps, organizing his words, ”The previously produced assault rifles and submachine guns were all designed for humans, with fast firing rates but limited power. Now our main enemies are those thick-skinned mutant beasts and zombies, so I believe the next development direction for gunpowder weapons should be high precision and high power!”

”With the least bullets, achieve the most effective output!”

Su Huan, although aiming at the distant target, had a hint of surprise in his eyes.

”What books have you been reading recently?”

”Besides some books on firearms design and ammunition engineering, I’ve also read some about modern war history and such, all related to guns.”

”Not bad, keep it up.”

”Bang!”

The muzzle flashed with fire, and a bullet hole instantly appeared on the distant paper target.

The loud sound echoed layer upon layer in the armed hall, becoming increasingly deep, like a roar suppressed in the throat, capturing the soul.

Pulling the bolt, a crisp metallic collision sounded, and a faint gunpowder smell pierced the nostrils.

A familiar excitement gradually returned to the body.

”The trajectory is skewed left, precision needs adjusting, the bullet’s rotation speed isn’t enough, the gun barrel could be extended a bit more, the grip… very poor!”

Su Huan couldn’t help but lift the corners of his mouth.

But this was the firearm he was most familiar with!

Rough, aggressive, yet filled with the artisanal wisdom of a small workshop!

Pushing the bullet into the chamber, slightly adjusting the shooting angle, although he didn’t have firearms skills, with his current control over his body,

there’s no chance of missing at one hundred meters.

”Bang!”

The second gunshot sound was noticeably off.

Everyone standing behind Su Huan uttered a small surprised sound, and the distant target paper was empty.

Missed?

”The bullet exploded, it must have been too much propellant,”

Qu Hang said, walking over after hearing the sound.

As a master of wind, a professional sniper, his understanding of firearms and ammunition surpassed that of Bai Lu and others.

”I really like the sound of this gun.”

Su Huan put down the gun, turning his head to look at the newly arrived Qu Hang, who, as always, was holding a sniper rifle in his arms.

At this moment, his eyes were fixed on the gun in Su Huan’s hand.

Qu Hang’s past life was very dull, apart from drinking, he only executed missions.

He liked three things: guns, alcohol, and He Jie’s wife.

This life, he seemed not to drink much, probably reminiscing about the other thirsts via alcohol.

Train conductor He Jie’s wife couldn’t handle it, but a gun was no problem.

Su Huan tossed the bolt-action rifle to Qu Hang, ”Try it.”

The latter did not hesitate, declined Bai Lu’s offer of assistance, tossed the sniper rifle behind him, and took the rifle to check it, reloading and shooting.

This time the bullet’s state was very stable, accurately landing on the bullseye.

Three shots in quick succession, with the exception of the first shot being slightly off, the remaining two shots landed on the same spot.

”Is this a modified gun?”

”No, fully newly built.”

”The scope can be taken off, adjust the trajectory a bit, this gun’s precision can make it a sniper rifle, just the sound is too loud, easy to reveal the position.”

Qu Hang commented.

Then, frowning, he added, ”The grip does feel quite poor!”

The Boss standing to the side looked awkward.

”But the power is quite good, what’s the name of this gun?”

Qu Hang seriously asked.

”No name yet.” The Boss scratched his head, his gaze shifting to Su Huan, ”How about the train conductor give it a name?”

Su Huan pondered for a moment, ”Let’s call it Black Lion. This gun’s cold, rough feel can be preserved, while the rest you should modify.”

”Nice name.”

”Fitting.”

”Yeah.”

A few veterans seemed to want to praise the train conductor’s naming ability, but as they spoke, their words grew less and less. Finally, they shifted to enthusiastically discussing the pros and cons of the gun itself.

(Black Lion, approximate shape for reference)

After the gun testing ended, it was already evening.

When Su Huan leisurely returned to the dining car with his secretary, Yu Yue had already prepared the food.

Today’s dishes were all freshly stir-fried. Apart from the first few days after the apocalypse broke out, he hadn’t had such fresh stir-fried dishes in a long time.

Everyone ate several pots of rice in a row.

It’s worth mentioning that Shu Wei could also join the table, though she still didn’t receive a salary, her treatment was equivalent to that of the purser.

At night, the train conductor’s heart was in his throat, waiting anxiously for half the night. After confirming he finally got his long-awaited period of rest, he fell asleep at ease.

The whole night, no one came to bother him.

...

Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, they had been underwater for four days.

Every day there were endless tasks to complete, yet Su Huan didn’t feel stifled.

During this period, Su Huan mainly soaked in Director Xu’s laboratory, cooperating as a test subject for some experimental tests.

Director Xu, worthy of being the Steel Council’s chief research expert, smoothly advanced all experimental progress despite the harsh conditions on the train.

And produced many concrete results.

One of them was the development of the life potion from his past life; originally, a medium-sized Crown Pear could only extend a lifespan by one to two years. But after creating four life potions, each potion could extend life by one year, effectively doubling the impact.
