Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The most baffled ones were Tong Zizhan and Gao Yuan.

”Uh... how should we write the report?”

”Did you see that?”

”I wish I hadn’t...”

”I’m asking how the train captain advanced to Tier Two.”

Gao Yuan twisted the ring on his finger, clapped his hands with a complex expression.

Tong Zizhan frowned, ”What do you mean?”

”That’s how it’s done,” Gao Yuan clapped again.

Tong Zizhan leaned forward, mouth agape, ”Are you kidding me? Clapping hands and advancing on the spot, are you telling a story?”

Gao Yuan retorted, ”Do you think I would joke at a time like this?”

Tong Zizhan was agitated, ”Is this still serious evolution?!”

”The train captain is anything but serious!”

”The key point is, how should I write my report?”

Gao Yuan rotated the ring, fell silent for a moment, and then suddenly looked towards the distant battlefield. Besides the Black Kite Squad, which was too pressured by the Armed Corps to show themselves, there was also a group of sneaky guys mingling with them.

”How about we see how they write it?”

Tong Zizhan’s eyes lit up, ”That’s a good idea, but why are they mixing with Black Kite?”

”They must have been taken hostage...”

With all the commotion below, Haywood on the mountain heard it too, but didn’t pay attention and instead concentrated more on the search for Crown Pear trees.

...

Su Huan squinted at the sphere of light in front of him.

Judging by the weakening energy output, he was underestimating in his heart.

’Won’t he die from electrocution? It’s just 50% energy, theoretically, a little struggle would get him out... this guy must be all show, no go.’

Zhao Kuo listened to the madly flashing mechanical warnings by his ear, already engulfed in despair.

”Warning: Pain threshold exceeded, pain nerve blocked.”

”Warning: Skin tissue damage exceeds 80%.”

”Warning: Exoskeleton energy absorption module destroyed.”

”Warning: Four exoskeleton motors damaged.”

”Warning: Eight exoskeleton motors damaged.”

”Warning: Communication module destroyed.”

”Warning: Electronic scanning module destroyed, power module destroyed, weapons electronic module destroyed...”

”Warning: Exoskeleton damage exceeds 60%, only mechanical functions remain.”

”Warning: Subcutaneous defense tissue destroyed, internal organs damaged...”

”Warning: Detected energy exceeding threshold, shutting down brain tissue.”

”Exoskeleton power fully charged”

”Activate emergency protocol?”

”Main brain tissue shut down, activating emergency protocol.”

As he smelled a burning aroma, Su Huan decisively halted the energy output.

The next moment, a hysterical roar came from within the lightning.

A long blade over two meters split open the lightning.

”Boom”

Zhao Kuo, pulled forcibly into the air by electric current, fell to the ground, supporting himself with the long blade, only kept from collapsing by the exoskeleton.

But his condition was so miserable it was hard to even look at.

The insulation on the exoskeleton was penetrated by the current, covered with lightning-shaped marks like frost.

All exposed flesh was charred black by the electric current, the acidic rain hitting it sizzled like landing on burning embers, producing crackling sounds, and the charred powder slid down with the rainwater.

Su Huan was momentarily taken aback by this state.

In his two lifetimes combined, it was the first time he wielded Tier Two power, unfamiliar with his own strength.

”Should we... do it again?”

Zhao Kuo, standing opposite, didn’t react at all.

The human parts of his flesh were completely numb.

If not for having over 40% body modification, Zhao Kuo would already be finished.

”Crack” went a crisp sound.

A spark flashed across Zhao Kuo’s right eye, the blue light vanished, turning into a cold metal sphere.

He lifted the narrow two-meter-long blade in his hand and charged at Su Huan.

Su Huan sensed something was off with Zhao Kuo, hesitated to electrocute him again, casually drew out a carbon fiber long blade to hold in front of him, his feet sliding backwards.

His ”Defender” rank was still at Tier One, melee combat wasn’t advisable.

”Huh?”

Su Huan looked up in surprise.

The wind brushed past him, the imposing Zhao Kuo merely swung his blade in the air, forcing Su Huan back, then ran towards the distance.

No inclination to look back.

’He must be electrocuted brain-dead...’

But it made things more convenient.

He was worrying about how to drive Black Kite into the mountains.

Now it was settled; he ran in by himself.

Controlling a few lightning strikes from the sky, Su Huan steered Zhao Kuo onto the right path.

Although Zhao Kuo’s conscious mind was lost, his escape speed still exceeded most Tier One Evolvers.

In just a few breaths, he disappeared into the mountains.

Leaving behind the Black Kite Squad members and the Armed Corps technicians staring wide-eyed at each other.

Squad members started asking the deputy commander about the next steps.

HT-426 felt a chill seeing Zhao Kuo flee, and cursed under her breath calling him a waste.

Just then, noticing Su Huan approaching, fear climbed uncontrollably into her gray-blue eyes.

She immediately issued the order.

”Withdraw towards Wangjiang Peak!”

”What about the Deep Blue Data hostages?”

”Abandon them all!”

Immediately, Black Kite launched an even more ferocious attack.

The seasoned He Jie and other elite soldiers instantly understood the opponent was trying to retreat, but recalling the train captain’s orders, they feigned efforts in their skirmish.

Except for one unlucky fellow taken down by Su Huan’s electric spear, most managed to run up to Wangjiang Peak.

In the pouring rain, He Jie habitually yelled orders with his raspy voice, calling soldiers to clean the battlefield.

Rainwater rushing down the mountains formed near-rivers, sweeping past their feet. An ordinary person wouldn’t even be able to stand.

Su Huan speechlessly dragged the guy he knocked out with his electricity.

Ignore him, a dignified Tier One Evolver can’t drown here.
