Armed Train in the Apocalypse

”Completely effortless, just because one is in this mountain!”

Listening to the deep voice, accompanied by a faint sneer, HT-426 clenched her silver teeth, almost crushing them.

With despair, she watched the train coming towards them, breaking through the waves.

The heavy head of the armored train was half-submerged in the water, with only about three meters remaining above the surface, like a fully armored knight. The waves inadvertently lifted by it caused the gigantic log beneath their feet to sway incessantly, and the soil attached to its roots crumbled and broke apart.

HT-426’s heavy exoskeleton fell directly into the water, but fortunately, she grabbed hold of the floating tree roots beside the water, preventing herself from completely falling in.

Her crow-black hair spread across the water’s surface, her pale chin submerged.

Only her gray-blue eyes reflected the train and the tall figure standing atop it.

The equilibrium of the small island was disrupted, and the group awkwardly adjusted their positions, searching for a new balance.

The man standing on the train’s roof didn’t even have a speck of his clothing wet.

Even HT-426 couldn’t help but think how wonderful it would be to have a sanctuary as solid as this armored train.

The two days of water survival had completely worn down their resolve.

The hatred for the train even took a backseat to their survival instincts.

”Tsk tsk, seeing your train captain again makes me happy. You are allowed to make one reasonable request.”

Su Huan spoke with a teasing tone.

On the floating log, only six members of the Black Kite Squad remained. Initially, there were thirteen, including Zhao Kuo; two were killed, one was captured, and seeing the dwindling numbers, it was clear what they had endured over the past two days.

Surviving in a flood isn’t as simple as just being able to swim.

Ubiquitous debris, floating stones, building wreckage, and mutant beasts that could appear at any time threatened their lives.

If these individuals weren’t elite evolvers heavily trained by major companies, they wouldn’t have lived to see the train.

Coming down the mountain was a death sentence.

”Have you decided on your request yet? Although you aren’t sinking for now, it seems like something is approaching.”

Su Huan urged.

HT-426 hated him to the bone; they were in this predicament all thanks to him.

All the venomous and cursed words flashed through her mind, but what stood out was the maniacal smile reflected in the thunderstorm, superimposing onto the present smug face.

She dared not.

She knew full well he might be toying with her.

But she had too much to accomplish; even if humiliated, she didn’t want to die here in vain.

”Are there any restrictions on the request?”

Su Huan pinched his chin, his gaze playful, ”No restrictions, I reserve the right to refuse based on my mood. Just say it.”

HT-426’s heart sank to rock bottom; the worst-case scenario had occurred.

No matter if Su Huan was lecherous and greedy or cold and selfish, she had confidence in persuading him, but how to deal with someone evidently mad?

The atmosphere fell into a deathly silence.

Only the sound of waves crashing against the train resounded, and the wind grew stronger.

A powerful energy fluctuation swam from afar, but it hesitated to approach the colossal train.

Other members of the Black Kite Squad anxiously watched HT-426, fearing they’d squander this opportunity.

But they didn’t know what to say to escape their current plight.

Time ticked by, and just as Su Huan began to lose patience, HT-426 spoke up.

”What the train currently needs most is information about different powers and secrets from before the apocalypse. As long as you let me live, all resources, connections, and information I hold will be yours to command.”

Her tone was earnest, carrying a solemn note.

”It’s the apocalypse; what use are connections and resources? Can they save you?”

Su Huan nonchalantly responded.

A glint of brilliance instantly shone in HT-426’s eyes, ”Due to my family background, I know a lot of high-level talents, even have many favors exchanged. Although these are shelved because of the apocalypse, as long as I’m alive, these debts exist. With equivalent power, we have a foundation for cooperation.”

”Before the apocalypse, I personally established a company valued at over a billion. I know how to screen and manage talent, how to set rules, and how to exploit them to acquire resources. Compared to ordinary people, I know more high-value information.”

”That slut 428 should be in your hands, right?”

Su Huan pondered HT-426’s words, replying faintly.

”She might know some information, but far less than I do. Moreover, I am a Tier One manipulator, ’The Touch of Vacuum,’ capable of creating regional vacuums. As an evolver alone, my value surpasses hers.”

”As long as you let me live, all this will become your strength.”

As her voice fell, a silence enveloped the train inside and out.

Those onboard naturally heard HT-426’s words. Liang Kuan leisurely enjoyed the powerful support and massage function of the new chair.

As for stories about pre-apocalypse tycoons and fallen second-generation elites, he had no interest whatsoever.

Back in Shun’an, he personally captured a major tycoon.

No matter how much they knew, what could they do? Before the absolute force of the train captain, they still had to grovel.

As the apocalypse deepened, such occurrences would only increase.

Many aboard shared the same thought as him.

But for the other five members of the Black Kite Squad, seeing HT-426 bow down was no less shocking than the day the apocalypse arrived.

Who was Shu Wei?

Her family had been amassing wealth since her grandfather’s and maternal grandfather’s generations. By her parents’ generation, their wealth was enough to last for generations, true top-tier society elites, not nouveau riche or second-generation internet celebrities, but emerging entrepreneurs often reported in local news.
