Armed Train in the Apocalypse

”Quite unexpected, I thought she was an emotionally distant person.”

Su Huan exhaled a breath, like a long white dragon, passing through the barrier, blowing away the rain, and finally merging into the dark sky.

”Wan Xing is indifferent simply because she doesn’t care about these things, but you really hit her sore spot this time.”

”What sore spot?”

Su Huan was somewhat curious.

”She hasn’t eaten grains for a long time, recently spent a lot of points exchanging materials, planning to make grains herself.”

”What does that even mean? Grains? Rice?”

”A term for some secondary world merchandise, she likes it a lot, but the previous ones were all lost.”

”I thought she might like children.”

Su Huan sighed softly.

Yu Jing shook her head, ”The orphanage was something her parents wanted to do, she isn’t interested in most things, just an ordinary girl who loves immersing herself in the secondary world.”

”A twenty-six-year-old girl... but it’s not wrong after human evolution, let’s talk about your ability.”

Su Huan brought the topic back on track.

Yu Jing said seriously, ”The reason I said you were half right is because the puppet indeed only has the level of entering Tier Two, but I am not without combat power. I am now equivalent to a combination of machinery and flesh, not machinery replacing some flesh, but the mechanical nature thoroughly integrated into flesh.”

After speaking, she punched Su Huan with her exoskeleton.

Su Huan squinted his eyes, slightly turned sideways, lifted his knee and turned his hips, kicking the sneaky puppet away.

Then he straightened his body, raised his hand to catch Yu Jing’s fist.

The collision of fist and palm made a muffled ”bang” sound.

Su Huan said lightly, ”The strength is average, the coordination between you two is still a bit poor.”

The next moment, Yu Jing, who was firmly grabbed, suddenly took off the exoskeleton on her body, like taking off an ordinary coat, the speed was so fast that Su Huan did not react.

Then she huddled and burrowed into Su Huan’s arms.

”Bang!”

The woman groaned and kneeled on the deck, a trace of blood seeping from the corner of her mouth.

Leaving Su Huan surprised in place, ”Your body defense has improved so much? Normally this punch should keep you down for a day.”

Even the always calm Yu Jing was somewhat broken, clenching her silver teeth, ”Isn’t it just that I offended you a few times, you want to kill me?”

Su Huan bent down and patted the woman’s head, smiling as he said, ”Not to the point of killing, but the thought of crippling is there.”

”So this is your main ability after evolution? Able to drive machinery in a special way, manipulate a puppet, and significantly improve physical quality.”

Yu Jing raised her head helplessly, ”Not just that, also has a certain degree of flesh-devouring ability, just that your skin is too tough... can’t bite through.”

Only then did Su Huan notice a small blood spot on the surface of his fist, like a small figure, baring fangs and brandishing claws, wanting to take a bite of his flesh, but the force was so weak that he would overlook it if not careful.

With a flash of electricity, the blood bead on the back of his hand turned to dust.

”Flesh manipulation as the main, machinery as the supplementary.”

Su Huan pondered, if the danger could be transferred to the puppet, the path of flesh and machinery wasn’t unfeasible, like an alternative ”mechanic.”

”But there’s no one to help you trial this path, whether you can reach Tier Two is uncertain.”

”I have been prepared for a long time.”

”Since it’s a whole new path, let’s give it a name.”

Su Huan’s eyes showed a bit of admiration, extending a hand, ”The pioneer has the right to name the new path with her way.”

Yu Jing was slightly stunned, holding Su Huan’s hand and standing up from the deck, her expression returned to calm.

”Skin and rusted bones, all are Bodhi tools, from now on, all metal and flesh shall bow down before me, let’s call it ’Bodhi Tool’.”

”Tier One ’Bodhi Tool’ huh...”

Su Huan looked at the puppet standing in the rain, the metallic body, with arms half exposed, indeed had a bit of the flavor of a mechanical colossus.

Suddenly, he heard some noise in his ear.

It was as if a world was quickly drawing near his ear, just by the sound, he could feel a woman in a stockings jacket with wide-leg casual pants, holding a spatula standing at the train’s command platform, surrounded by the sound of staff typing on keyboards.

Only Yu Yue’s ’Shared Acoustic Field’ in the whole carriage could manage that.

Soon Yu Yue’s soft voice, like fingertips brushing across a quilt, transmitted, ”Su Huan, right in front of us is Guan Chong City, they say it’s already flooded, the fastest route is directly through the middle of the city, should we go through, or take a detour?”

Su Huan squinted his eyes, looking at the indistinct cluster of buildings in the distance, ”Of course go through, the train’s speed in water is slow anyway, who knows when we’ll finish detouring.”

”Okay, according to drone detection, it seems there are people calling for help ahead.”

”People calling for help?” Su Huan was taken aback, ”In the water? I can’t see.”

”I’ll adjust the distance.”

Soon, Su Huan felt his hearing passed through the layers of waves, reaching the front of the train, hearing the sound of someone splashing the water, judging by the figure, they indeed looked like humans.

”Haven’t drowned after so long, could they be zombies?”

Su Huan said suspiciously.

”Xiaozhao says the rain is too heavy, the drone can’t fly, we’ll know when the train gets a bit closer.”

The light rain quickly turned into a downpour, compared to torrential landside rains, with the flood as a backdrop, this deluge was even more terrifying.

The entire body of water seemed boiled, the crests shattering into pale foam under the whip of raindrops, which were then swallowed by deeper ink waves.

In an instant, the stark whiteness outlined the twisted peaks of the waves, like the scaly back of a giant beast.

The train gradually drove into the city.

The once bustling city still stood, but it was already submerged underwater, while the train glided over the city.

Occasionally overpasses and signal towers emerged from the water, signs of certain international financial centers were still above the waterline in the distance.

The train even sailed over a massive sports stadium.

It was also Su Huan’s first time viewing a city from such height, waves surging, various debris floating on the water surface, like garbage being brushed aside by the train.

The towering buildings around also became more numerous, signal towers, high-rise residences...

Su Huan even saw a skyscraper crowded with zombies, upon seeing the train floating on the water, they rushed out one after another.

Dropping into the water like dumplings, floundering twice then sinking.

Su Huan frowned, detecting a massive generalized energy reaction beneath the water.

A few blurry, struggling forms also appeared in front of him, they couldn’t swim out nor sink.

”Do we have any equipment for underwater operations, to see what’s inside, I’ll go down immediately.”

After saying this, Su Huan, along with Yu Jing, headed toward the front of the train, getting closer to the struggling silhouettes ahead.

A fleeting glance before entering the train’s command platform, Su Huan saw a few rotten faces.

No surprise, he entered the train’s command platform.

Yu Yue looked at the mechanical puppet closely following her daughter, slightly puzzled, and before she could inquire, Xiaozhao walked in.

The people behind him holding two cylindrical devices.

”Because the direction of retrofitting the train is mostly oriented towards water domains, the teacher particularly had us develop some equipment for underwater exploration, this is a small submarine, since the volume increased quite a bit, the transmission method switched from fiber optic to generalized energy communication, equipped with a lightweight communication device inside.”

Su Huan took it and examined it, ”So this thing can explore separately from the train, without tethering anymore?”

Xiaozhao nodded, ”Yes, it just hasn’t had space for testing, today is the first use.”

”Then let’s give it a try.”

Su Huan waved his hand.

Xiaozhao and the others debugged the equipment, soon, following the submersion of the exploration gear, slightly fuzzy images appeared on the display here.

Xiaozhao calmly instructed, ”Activate low light illumination.”

The screen’s muddy and dark images also cleared up.

”What is that?!”
