Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The drone operator, who was assigned to the research group with him, glanced at his screen and suddenly snickered.

The scouting soldier unhappily said, ”What are you laughing at? If it were you, you’d crash the drone too.”

”At least I don’t have to write a crash report.”

”Damn you, let’s have a one-on-one on the deck tonight!”

”You’re an idiot, the deck is flooded.”

”Then the armored hall it is!”

...

Although the direct image from the detector was lost, it was still possible to see through the train’s compound detection methods that the train was steadily sinking.

Because the output voltage was too high, electric currents occasionally flickered around Su Huan.

His robes fluttered, and his long hair hung down backwards.

His sharp eyebrows furrowed, based on the intensity of the current he produced, even a Tier Two Butcher would be roasted by him.

Why was there no movement outside at all?

”Is it still descending?”

”Still accelerating in descent, the outer tube of the deep-sea worms is made of chitin, with resistivity close to that of plastic insulators, so current doesn’t do much damage to them.”

Shu Wei whispered as a reminder, looking at the electric current around Su Huan with a hint of fascination even she couldn’t fully notice herself.

”Oh, I see.”

Su Huan stopped his hand in sudden realization.

This was the cost of a lack of education.

”High resistance to electricity, then what about high temperature... why are you standing so far away?”

Su Huan turned his head around, discovering his secretary at the back of the crowd.

Shu Wei nonchalantly stepped forward, ”If I remember correctly, the chitin tubes of deep-sea worms soften and collapse at 75~85°C, causing the internal hydrogen sulfide gas to expand and burst, but with mutations, who knows, the heat resistance may have reached terrifying levels.”

Su Huan cast her a sidelong glance and looked at Xiaozhao.

Xiaozhao scratched his head and said, ”I’m not specialized in this direction, I haven’t really studied biologically related knowledge since college, we’ll have to ask other experts, but considering this is underwater, normal heating methods might not work...”

”Lin Jin, you give it a try.”

Su Huan directly called on Lin Jin.

He wasn’t sure about other types of fire, but in a previous life, Lin Jin’s fire, which couldn’t be extinguished, was feared by many, whether it was submerged in water or buried in soil, Lin Jin’s flame would burn like a bone-devouring maggot.

He just didn’t know if it still had those characteristics now.

Hearing Su Huan call his name, Lin Jin nervously stepped forward.

To be honest, he still hadn’t found his place in the team, his abilities weren’t as practical as Xiaoba’s, and his talent in firearms shooting was not as good as the Armed Corps’ mongoose.

His combat skills were far behind those elite soldiers like He Jie and Qu Hang.

But the train conductor seemed to value him highly, which put a lot of pressure on him.

Su Huan patted his shoulder, ”Just do your best.”

With everyone witnessing this scene, their feelings were mixed, as Su Huan’s words were either sarcastic or cold, apart from Xiaoba, only Lin Jin received such placid treatment from him.

Even Yu Yue felt a twinge in her heart.

”Check to see which external cameras are still functional?”

Xiaozhao said to the staff nearby.

The staff immediately checked and quickly pulled up a view from the mechanical arm outside car No. 1. Although the mechanical arm’s movement was restricted, its end joint could barely see the situation.

The dense vines had already entangled the car and were writhing to tighten further.

”Stop powering the system, so the power system won’t be destroyed.”

Seeing this situation, Su Huan said.

”Before submerging, all activities were already stopped, and the reason we haven’t sunk to the bottom immediately is due to adequate air in the car, creating significant buoyancy, giving the deep-sea worms difficulty dragging us down instantly.”

Su Huan nodded in satisfaction, that’s the benefit of having many talents.

As long as the system was appropriate, they could take initiative to solve problems which Su Huan hadn’t yet considered.

”It’s up to you now, Lin Jin.”

The latter opened a car window, looking at the blue vines clinging to it, a tinge of orange flame gradually rose in his eyes.

Through the window, it illuminated the deep-sea worms outside in the water.

The chitin outer tube gradually turned orange-red after a few breaths, with fine bubbles rising around, and the deep-sea worm seemed to have sensed something, jerking that vine quickly.

The outcome was the outer tube of the red node collapsing and breaking.

”It’s working!”

He Jie excitedly exclaimed.

Before his voice even faded, another vine squeezed over, occupying the previous position.

The flames in Lin Jin’s eyes grew hotter, with the entire car window area vines turning red, and real flames appearing underwater!

Su Huan pondered as he observed Lin Jin, as the energy within him fluctuated briefly.

It seemed he awakened a new skill.

A truly commendable talent.

”Burn them all!”

”Fire that can burn underwater, is this the Three-Flavored True Fire?”

”Well said, human evolution could indeed remake myths.”

As Su Huan gathered his thoughts, the worm’s outer tubes were carbonizing and decomposing in the high temperatures, with residual sulfur crystals and metal sulfides flushed away by the water.

Yet before more light could be seen, a zombie was already being pressed against the car window by a vine, rubbing back and forth like a sponge.

The flames were completely wiped out.

Everyone fell silent immediately.

Shu Wei calmly calculated beside him, ”It took forty seconds to burn through six vine segments, each ten centimeters thick. With this efficiency, burning at full throttle for about twenty hours could take care of tens of thousands of vine segments, with luck, we might get out in around twenty-four hours.”

Lin Jin opened his mouth awkwardly, ”The underwater environment consumes more energy, at full power, I might not last an hour...”
