Armed Train in the Apocalypse

With a resentful turn, they began the search with the team members.

Twenty minutes later, in a corner at the top of the mountain, they found Zhao Kuo frantically excavating the ground.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Haywood had already brought over a few experts.

”Did you find it?!”

”The high-energy reaction is on the mountain, but there’s only a general area...”

The two groups looked up.

And bumped into each other again.

Haywood’s eyes fell on Zhao Kuo, who was digging madly.

...

Su Huan looked at Zhao Kuo, who was digging in the pit, oblivious to everyone around him, with a frown. As he took a step forward, Zhao Kuo darted away like an alarmed rabbit, dodging over ten meters and causing a soldier to accidentally discharge his gun.

However, the exoskeleton on Zhao Kuo’s body blocked all of them.

Even a seriously injured Tier Two Evolver was not something ordinary soldiers could easily subdue.

The Black Kite members showed angry resentment, but dared not act rashly under the gun barrels.

Su Huan ignored them and looked at the deep pit on the ground, where intense energy fluctuations reverberated.

With a trace of doubt in his heart, ’The Crown Pear Tree... could it be underground?’

Though he couldn’t make sense of it, based on Zhao Kuo’s abnormal behavior and the dark blue data expert’s analysis, there must be something here.

Without much thought, Su Huan issued the command.

”Dig!”

He Jie waved a large hand, ”People, blow it open for me!”

Soldiers quickly moved forward to load explosives, the advantage of numbers meant that all combat-related resources could be brought along.

”Boom——”

In an instant, the ground shook, and the Mountain Goat holding the fuse looked around in confusion.

He hadn’t even pulled it yet!

”What’s happening?” Everyone looked around.

Outside Wangjiang Peak was pitch black.

Even searchlights couldn’t shine far.

”The sound of water is getting louder!” Yu Yue said in Su Huan’s ear.

”Water?”

Su Huan frowned, a bolt of lightning slashed through the rain from the sky and exploded instantly.

The entire mountaintop of Wangjiang Peak was suddenly enveloped by an electric grid, with thousands of electric javelins radiating outward, for a moment the landscape was vividly illuminated by electric light.

In the distance, Mojiang had long disappeared, replaced by a rolling ocean, a mighty torrent engulfed the river channels and valleys, destroying buildings within with a roaring crash.

Muddy giant waves churned, carrying broken trees, shattered houses, and even whole submerged cars, forming a flowing ruin in the darkness.

It was as if the gate of the Milky Way had burst open, and the whole world groaned under the weight of the flood.

Pale electric light cast distorted shadows beneath the water, like some colossal creature swimming in the abyss.

Accompanied by the storm’s howl, the flood raged towards Wangjiang Peak.

In the face of this terrifying force of nature, everyone stood aghast, like a chicken with its neck squeezed shut.

Even the most fearless He Jie was pale.

”Rumble——”

The peak crumbled, the earth shook and the mountains swayed.

Overhead, the electric grid still crackled, and everyone instinctively looked at the conductor.

Beneath the long hair, the narrow eyes were shadowed, like a silent, dead pool, with no emotion rising.

”Continue.”

Su Huan said coldly as the flood roared.

The sudden flood surprised him, but Wangjiang Peak was at the edge of the Flood Zone, and it had been raining heavily for many days, so it was not surprising for the floodwaters to overflow.

If he couldn’t find the Crown Pear Tree, he wouldn’t survive more than two months.

So what if there’s a flood?

After my death, who cares if it floods the skies!

Even if the sky collapses today, that Crown Pear Tree must be dug out!

Only by surviving can one consider what comes next.

”Boom!”

The sound of an explosion echoed on Wangjiang Peak.

The ground trembled, even the soldiers of the Armed Corps began to feel fear.

But looking at the conductor standing there with a calm face, their hearts were steadied.

”The charge isn’t enough, add more!”

He Jie shouted hoarsely.

”We can’t add more, we can’t add more, if we do, it will collapse, Wangjiang Peak’s mountain body has fissures, if it collapses, we won’t survive!”

The experts under Haywood shouted wildly.

Everyone loading the explosives paused simultaneously.

Mountain Goat and others looked back at He Jie.

The expert hurriedly said, ”Whether we blow it up or not, under the impact of the floodwater, Wangjiang Peak could collapse, we should go down the mountain while we still can.”

The latter noticed the conductor hadn’t said anything, gritted his teeth, picked up a sapper’s shovel, and jumped into the pit, ”Then dig!”

Seeing everyone starting to move again, those from Dark Blue Data and Black Kite were dumbfounded.

”Does this tree have to be found?”

”Staying here will get us killed!”

”Can’t we come back and find it after the flood is over?”

”...”

HT-426 stared at the man standing at the edge, with a hint of absurdity asked, ”Don’t you care about your subordinates?”

Su Huan’s black hair was neither tied nor gathered, billowing like black raging waves in the strong wind, a few strands stuck to his cool pale face, accentuating his icy skin, his thin lips pressed into a straight line, his expression indifferent.

No intention of answering.

Xiaoba silently made a batch of shovels out of metal.

Liang Kuan picked up the largest one, walked to the edge of the pit, glanced at HT-426, ”First comes the conductor, then the train.”

Then he jumped into the pit, digging hard.

Then came Lin Jin, Xiaoba, Qu Hang, even Yu Yue went down.

Aside from the soldiers on guard, only Su Huan remained standing.

The rain poured down, thunder rumbled and lightning flashed.

The sound of digging rang in the pit.

That sound of digging was more terrifying than the approaching flood, gnawing at the heart of HT-426, watching that cold profile illuminated by lightning.

HT-426’s eyes filled with incredulous fear, ”Tyrant!”

Haywood beside her agreed with this statement very much, when the soldiers rushed at him with guns, he even felt the people of Black Kite were not so abhorrent.

”Beep beep...”

The timer in his hand rang.

Su Huan’s eyes moved slightly, ”Xiaoba, Yu Yue, Mountain Goat, start leading the soldiers down the mountain.”

...

At the foot of the mountain, inside Armed Train Car Number 9.

Six or seven attendants from the manufacturing group were hurriedly sorting various materials and equipment.

Through the train’s communication system, Yu Jing was issuing orders to the entire car, though a small mishap occurred.

”All experiments stop, energy supply suspended, all activities on the train pause... await orders.”

Yu Jing ended the communication, looking at the man before her with her phoenix eyes, ”What did you just say?”

The man was somewhat fearful, yet also somewhat exhilarated, his excited hands were trembling.

”The floods outside, the conductor is done for, let’s leave, we can drive away now, the whole train will be ours, and no one will oppress us anymore, the supplies on the train will be enough for us to last decades...”

This guy had been assigned to the manufacturing group during the reformation, currently considered part of her lab, he was fine before, but seemed to crack up today.

As Yu Jing packed up her tools, she eyed the other few people.

Five showed shock, one’s face alternating between fear and excitement.

”Is this just your own idea?”

”Of course not!” The man’s pitch suddenly rose, excitedly, ”We have many, although we were at the bottom before, we were involved in manufacturing the entire train, every function on the train involved us, every department has our people.”

”So, you’re a collective organization?”

Yu Jing took off her gloves, pulled a tissue to wipe the grease from her arms, Su Huan’s sharp nose would snipe her again if he caught a whiff.

”Of course, our Tongzhou Association was formed by ordinary people like you and me oppressed by the train.”

”What are your organizational principles?”

The man was dumbfounded for a moment, recalling Liu Ming’s words vaguely, ”Roughly it’s about replacing the conductor, creating a better train, where everyone won’t be oppressed.”

”Pity...”

Yu Jing sighed.

”Pity what?”

The man was stunned.

”You’re unworthy.”

Yu Jing casually pulled out a pistol, pointed it at his head, and pulled the trigger.

”Boom——”

A muddy wave crashed over, the train swayed slightly, outside the windows plunged into darkness.
